Happy New Year Everyone

I'm sorry Pharvest but that is not hot. This is hot.........

I think I have posted this before

Extract from the Diary of an Englishman

August 31st

Just got transferred with work into our new home in Karratha, Western Australia, now this is a town that knows how to live!!

Beautiful sunny days and warm balmy evenings.

What a place! I watched the sunset from a deck chair on the veranda. It was beautiful. I've finally found my my home. I love it here.

September 13th

Really heating up. Got to 35 today. Not a problem. Live in an air-conditioned home, drive an air-conditioned car.

What a pleasure to see the sun everyday like this. I'm turning into a sun worshipper.

September 30th

Had the backyard landscaped with tropical plants today. Lots of palms and rocks. What a breeze to maintain. No more mowing lawn for me.

Another scorcher today, but i love it here.

October 10th

This temperature hasn't been below 35 all week. How do people get used to this kind of heat.

At least today it's kind of windy though. But getting used to the heat is taking longer than I expected.

October 15th

Fell asleep by the pool. Got 3rd degree burns over 60% of my body. Missed 3 days of work. What a dumb thing to do.

I learned my lesson though. Got to respect the ol' sun in a climate like this.

October 20th

I missed Kitty (our cat) sneaking into the car when I left this morning. By the time i got to the hot car for lunch, Kitty had died and swollen up to the size of a shopping bag and stank up the $3,000 leather upholstery.

I told the kids that she ran way. The car now smells like Whiskettes and cat shit. I learned my lesson though. No more pets in this heat.

October 25th

The wind sucks.

It feels like a giant fucking blow dryer!! And its hot as hell.

The home air-conditioner is on the blink and the AC repairman charged $200 just to drive over and tell me he needed to order parts.

October 30th

Been sleeping outside by the pool for 3 nights now. Bloody $900,000 house and we can't even go inside.

Why did I ever come here ?

November 4th

Its 38 degrees. Finally got the ol' air-conditioner fixe today. It cost $1,500 and gets the temp down to 25, but the bloody humidity makes the house feel like its about 30. Stupid repairman.

I hate this stupid fuckin place.

November 8th

If another wise arse cracks, "hot enough for you today" I'm going to fuckin throttle him. Fuckin heat!

By the time I get to work, the car's radiator was boiling over, my clothes are soaking fuckin wet, and I smell like baked cat!!

November 9th

Tried to run some messages after work. Wore shorts, and sat on the black leather seats in the car.

I thought my fuckin arse was on fire.

I lost two layers of flesh and all the hair on the back of my legs and my fuckin arse bunt off.

Now my car smells like burnt hair, fried arse and baked cat.

November 10th

The weather report might as well be a fuckin recording............... Hot and sunny. Hot and sunny. Hot and fuckin sunny.

It's been too hot to do anything for 2 damn months and the weatherman says it might really warm up next week.

Doesn't it ever rain in this damn fuckin place?

Water rationing will be next, so my $5,000 worth of palms just might dry up and bow into the fuckin pool.

Even the palms can't live in this fuckin heat.

November 14th

Welcome to HELL!!!!

Temperature got to 41 today. Now the air-conditioner's gone in my car.

The repairman came to fix i and said "hot enough for you today?"

My wife had to spend the $2,500 mortgage payment to bail my arse out of jail for punching the stupid fucker.

Fuck Karratha!

What kind of sick demented fuckin idiot would want to live here?

December 1st

WHAT?????

This is the first day of Summer???

You are fuckin kiddin!!!
You didn't.
Believe it or not, a very long time ago I had at school an exam in an advanced geography course. It was about using weather data to determine the corresponding location in the world. There was a choice and I decided in favour of Karratha and it was right.
What hardships people don't go to for raw materials!
I've never heard the heat described so drastically.

"SMHI: Coldest record of the century broken in Vittangi
Updated 16 January 2024 Published 15 January 2024

The lowest temperature of the 2000s so far in Sweden has been measured in Vittangi. This was announced by SMHI, whose climate station showed 44.6 degrees below zero on 5 January. With some delay, the record has now been recorded.

It was the climate station in Vittangi that after a break came in with a total minimum temperature of ❄️-44.6 degrees❄️. This new minimum has been recorded on 5 January 2024.

- Since it is a value from the regular measuring equipment, we have no problem accepting it. It will thus be both this month's and the entire century's lowest temperature so far in Sweden, writes meteorologist Sverker Hellström on SMHI's website.

‘Order restored’ - Lapland coldest
The previous coldest record in the 2000s was from 2001 in Storbo in Dalarna. Now the record has been broken.

- You could say that order has now been restored with a station in Lapland as the coldest, writes SMHI.

Broke the climate station in Karesuando
SVT has previously reported that the climate station in Karesuando could not cope with the cold during the latest cold snap.

It gave up at 43.6 degrees below zero.

- On good grounds, we can assume that it was even lower when it was at its coldest. But whether it was lower than in Vittangi cannot be said, writes SMHI."

Sounds bleak. Considering that I was really mad that I couldnt invest in Nordvolt some years ago... I am very glad now. Fingers crossed for Talga. I dont want to say good bye to this company and investment. Its too good to turn into reindeer piss.

I suspect that either MP and MT are tired of explaining the same thing over and over again, or they no longer consider it necessary because we are just waiting for the damn government to finally do their jobs in the ministries, or Talga is leaving the playing field out of compassion because of Syrah's current problems?

With the exception of Syrah, the ~'competitors' are very small. Perhaps the focus of this conference is rather different?

These idiots seem like secessionist to me now. Like the group a future without mining we all know. LoL - someone in that group keeps asking the same simple question over and over again to their guru from Kiruna and everyone else: What does the future look like without mines?
Nobody wants to answer his question.

What absolute horse-shit. Just because for decades miners were allowed to operate in a way that was dangerous and polluting, doesn't mean they're fundamentally aspects of mining.

Salzburg - a city that grew on an industry of mining, you guessed it, salt. Famous for it's terrible quality of life, and scarred, degraded landscape....
...or not. Lets all now just gloss over the fact that in Europe, like most places in the world, mining has been a part of society for literally millennia

But it does highlight the reputational damage that's been done to the industry and how much of a hurdle there is to overcome now.

There are two aspects. One is solved by their own behavior and is therefore uncritical. No one who makes responsible decisions takes these arguments seriously any more.
The other aspect is critical. Since we are a free society, these sectarians can spread their lies as they please. All the media have to do is keep repeating the fears and their group will gain followers. This leads to the huge problem in Sweden that everyone is allowed to object as they please. There will always be someone against something. This is a dead end in our society, a 'high culture in free fall'. The reasonable majority is almost powerless against splinter groups in a pluralistic society.
But Talga can still be happy not to have a diverse and colored Sami in a wheelchair and without running water with an endangered bat species under the roof as a neighbor. Then it would be hopeless.

It's a good thing I'm here in the bar – looking over my shoulder

That's exactly why I posted the thing from the anti-group. The title of the group is Yes! to a future without mines. And the question, What does the future look like without mines? cannot and will not be answered by any of them. They live in their bubble and echo chamber and do not want to imagine what their lives would be like without raw materials out of a mine. The bad thing is that, like every splinter group of opinions, they have power over society.

It reminds me of the Sami girl about four or so years ago. She was against everything in 'their' country, wore plastic clothes from China and was armed with an iPhone whose raw materials came from human rights-violating and environmentally harmful mining.

By the way, I think Salzburg is beautiful. I was just in the Salzkammergut in late fall.

Yeah the comment on Salzburg was sarcasm. It's a beautiful city and stunning landscape. But it is also, a town that literally grew from and is named after mining. That's why I thought it was a good example of mining as a part of cultural heritage that clearly hasn't been as disastrous as people make it out to be.

Ok, lets have a little game! Now we have all Permits in place (or under way to be in place) for offtake agreements. I think it was the case before the detailed plan but now I think its undeniably so. So lets have a little game.

* Question: What will be the volume of the first off-take agreement for Talga in terms of fraction of total production capacity? Closest to the real value can choose the music for the party!

I say 60%, i.e. about 12mtpa Talnode-C

* Question: what will be the offtake price per mt for the first offtake of Talnode-C? Closest to the real value gets to open the bottle of Champagne!

I say about 8000 USD/mt

Ohhh, ohh ohh, I have 2 more guessing games:

* Question: who is going to be our first customer? Correct answer wins the Champagne shower of the bottle opened above!

I personally have no clue. I say its going to be Panasonic!

* Question: When do you think the off take is going to be announced? Day of the ASX ANN counts here, not rumors in the news or actual day of the signature. Closest to the real date AFTER the date passes wins. Anyone guessing too early is out! Winner gets to be king of the clowns! :D

I say: February 20th!

What are your guesses?

Slight correction- that should read 6ktpa as Stage 1 is 19,500tpa of finished anode. So, roughly a third to the first customer and then the balance shared amongst another 2+ customers to diversify risk.

Look forward to the next investor webinar, particularly financing & scale-up plans now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel on the permitting front

....and found it.

The Supreme Court or HD, as you no doubt already know, did not allow the Sami reindeer Co-ops to raise their final legal objections but ratified the decision already reached by the Miljö and Mark Domstolen or MMD, allowing conditional mining of graphite. The HD announced its decision in October 2024.

So as far as I can see both the political and juicidal processes have now run their course to the end. At least in Sweden.

The only possible remaining recourse of the anti mining supporters and the Sami in particular now rests with the European Court of Human Rights.

There is a case in front of the ECHR regarding the continuing exploration of oil and gas in the Arctic Norwegian sea and its possible effects on climate change.

It is argued that Arctic indigenous peoples, including the Sámi people, are disproportionally impacted by the effects of climate change due to their high level of dependence on climate-sensitive ecosystems for their health and wellbeing, food security, transmission of cultural knowledge and traditional livelihoods, including reindeer herding.

So Sami and reindeer husbandry is deserving of special protection, or so it is argued, but in our case the graphite extracted will reduce the reliance on oil for the transport sector.

And ultimately benefit the Sami livelihoods and their reindeer. It should be easy for the lawyers to argue the Talga case if it goes this far.

-- beserk

As I said in the other thread I'm fed up with the incessant lies, distortions, blanking out parts of reality and, above all, the fear-mongering.
Actually, they themselves should be sued for sedition. I am simply fed up with it.
The Sami are lying when they repeatedly claim that this mine would block the migration routes. To supposedly prove this, they use the SGU drawing with the red line mapping the national interest. They deliberately ignore the planned and declared dimensions of the mine. It is also not true that grazing will be obstructed. We here know their own maps which I have shown for you. It is fear-mongering to speak of genocide. It is incitement to claim that this project threatens the existence of the Sami culture. The perfect breeding ground and dissemination platform is Amnesty, which actually makes a lot of sense, but makes no effort to filter out lies, misinformation and fear-mongering. I saw this many times also in other cases and countries. Not only once did I have the feeling that this good and sensible organisation had been undermined and hijacked. The term genocide is thrown around inflationarily. Genocide stickers are everywhere.

It is fear-mongering and agitation and lies by some local residents and environmentalists to claim that mining will pollute the rivers. Water quality is closely monitored and if limits are exceeded, the appropriate action is taken. If the values are too high, that's it for Talga and their mining. It's as if they were against a new company because the working conditions could violate human rights. It is also untrue that this project is only a financial burden for Kiruna (see article by Svemin for example). He seems to have never heard of the concept of supply and demand. Soon Talga will be offering jobs. And the employees will certainly not be sleeping in tents. And they certainly won't be stockpiling their food.

Fortunately, it is of national interest and must be protected.

We are living in extreme times, as we can see from the events in the USA. Fears were also fuelled there in order to influence the election, from both sides. They have only two.
Somehow, more and more people seem to be throwing common sense overboard and giving in to lies, misinformation and distortions of reality, consciously allowing fear to take control over themselves.

👆 It had to be said 🤣

I hope that doesn't come across as exaggerated or spiteful. A lot has built up over the past few years. I would never have reckoned with these opponents of active climate protection and certainly not with the means they are using.
I was and am convinced partly green too. But they are destroying the good purpose of this otherwise sensible movement. And a few Sami are destroying my image of a functioning society up there.
