Vegemite and chip (preferably salt and vinegar) sandwiches are pretty delicious 😋
OMG JoMo - that is an insane combination! I’m Australian-born of Greek and German parents, but some exposure to Vegemite. Are you of English origin? I think they put potatoes in sandwiches.

😆 I grew up in NZ - kiwi parents. As kids we used to have marmite (I prefer Vegemite now though) and chip sandwiches for a treat. Hot chip butties (with Watties tomato sauce of course) were the go with fish and chips though. Pretty healthy stuff!!

Move on, nothing to see.
I still can’t get over the recent quarterly in which it was stated that Graphene production will be of secondary interest—only turning by-product Graphite (that which is not suitable for battery grade processing) into Graphene.

I wish Talga would continue working, in earnest, on productising their unique and cost effective method of generating Graphene. Unique qualities of Talga’s natural graphite, and proprietary processes, means Talga can create Graphene without the error-prone, and expensive, exfoliation process. Although I do understand their immediate need for revenue and hence the graphite and Talnode-C route. But if they drop the hat completely on Graphene, IMHO they will be letting potentially their biggest money maker get away from them and will be doing a disservice to the world.

Here are some tidbits gleaned from the internet about Graphene:

What is the most powerful substance on Earth?
Graphene remains the strongest material ever measured and, so strong that "it would take an elephant, balanced on a pencil, to break through a sheet of graphene the thickness of Saran Wrap.”

Why isn’t Graphene used more?
The sole reason for the absence of graphene in, well, almost all our products is because there isn't an efficient and cost-friendly way to mass-produce it.

Imagine a world in which cheap Graphene is readily available. As very simple use cases:
  • EVERY item of clothing can become a suit of armour by incorporating Graphene into the thread, or even as a spray on similar to Scotch Guard.
  • Adding Graphene to glass to make lightweight impenetrable and scratch resistant glass. A mere coating of Graphene added to existing glass will do. Just spray it on!
  • Creating bearings, either incorporatIng Graphene into the metal, or coated with it, that don’t need lubrication and last longer - this alone may solve the problem with wind generators catching fire. It’s the lubricating oil, required by their bearings, that catches fire.
The uses are limitless.

Hopefully when the cash coffers are full from selling graphite, the company can re-visit Graphene as a primary product. I do hope so.

I don't interpret it so sharply. It was always clear that graphene is a byproduct of Talgas graphite production. Look at FGR. They have bags of graphene piling up. It's still early in the process, so be patient. I think Talga's statement is prescient and well taken. I also wish that graphene would come faster but development takes time. Full spot on opening the mine and anode production. If graphene falls out and it is needed it is good.

They did state though that they use graphene in Anode to replace carbon black and in cathode to improve performance. Also they are working on recycling battery anode to graphene which is a superb use case for exhausted anode. It's not in the front and center of Talga because the market is too small and uncertain at moment.

Since I have now written a lot, this is an emotional topic and I describe my opinion, it fits better in the bar than in the Sweden thread or media.

Here comes a little update from those who are against it. I translated the video with Google Translator and the phone camera. But maybe lellep can translate it for us. Maybe you can get the whole article too?
We know this topic and have illuminated and discussed it a lot. Nevertheless, it is important to stay on the ball. And it's important to me that Talga addresses all the concerns.

Only what we already know is said. What I would like to note are the fears of the indigenous people like the girl who wants to preserve the heritage of her grandfather. While she is saying this she is filming the scenery with her phone camera without thinking about who and what is enabling her to do this. You can't blame her for that, she's still young. A Sami girl feared because of Kallak that a great flood will come and many people die. Where she got the information to develop such a fear..? Here the carpenter points out that the demonstration in Vittangi last year was initiated by young people. What I want to get at are my concerns about instrumentalizing young people for one's own interests. You can't accuse them of not seeing the big picture because they are young. Many old people hide their ignorance by sending children ahead to emotionalize the issue and distract from facts. All scientific but the science sharply selected. But that's just my opinion and I'm drifting, just wanted to go into the plastic clothes of a famous girl and who she makes responsible for it.

"Vittangi can be a guide in the transition from fossil to electric cars with batteries. But on the other side of the battle for minerals are reindeer husbandry, drinking water and nature in Vittangi."

"In Vittangi, the battle between minerals and reindeer herds is at its peak"

The headline dramatizes a bit, the last action was eight months ago. Gradually they become nervous.
https://www.dn.se/ekonomi/i-vittangi-stalls-striden-mellan-mineral-och-renskotel-pa-sin-spets/

"When you belong to those who have to pay the price for it, then it will not be so fun with the change, says Vittangi resindent..."
China... and rather fun than responsibility 🤔
I had to think about this statement. It is clear to me what he means. But I can also think of a NIMBY who is not willing to take responsibility, not wanting to do something against global warming, no green transition. The problems in China are far away. I still have the phone in front of my eyes.

The statement that the path is cut off is not correct from my point of view - the authorities will certainly see it the same way. Look at my first post here in the bar. Of course, this may sound to you like lobbying from me. But I would like to emphasize that I always try to balance neutrally between extreme opinions. I also try to weigh things up. Half of Sweden falls as a territory under the Sami. And the Sami, besides being indigenous, are also part of the social system and part of the global warming and pollution. I think that's correct. Think of her phone or the Telsa of the Sami who fought against Kallak. The sunglasses of the girl - Blitz Future Eyewear Group: "...and manufacture in our contracted factories in Asia". Or I just see the PA system on the demo, which was certainly not sustainable and locally manufactured.
What I'm getting at is my opinion that we can only achieve the green transition together and not against each other. How can this work if 78% of the wind turbines were prevented in 2021 and at the same time nuclear power was abandoned? How can this work if many people do not care how and where their products are produced, one click Amazon and eye closed? And how can it work if children are instrumentalized who do not yet think about or understand what their own actions mean.

I wonder if the protagonists in the video care that Talga asked the European Commission not to delay environmental protection, that our anodes are 94% more sustainable, that Talga was the first to commit to the EU principles for sustainable raw materials.

I wish that the Sami and Talga cooperate, compensation.
I think keeping reindeer is also an economic interest (they are slaughtered and sold; maybe also sometimes to buy an EV and best a local Chinese Volvo.) and when it comes to business, you can always negotiate. Apart from the fact that the water will not polluted as the carpenter fears. He should have simply talked to our environmental engineer on the open day and not demonstrate the same time.

Enough, I just wanted to forward you the insight and write about my opinion. Maybe I get a bit polemical sometimes with this emotional topic, but that's why I went to the bar. Make each his own picture and own research.

I link the question of what the community and people from the Kiruna area can do about global warming to the statement from above. I clearly think of something like all of you. Deal with the obvious and consult how you can get the different groups together at the same table.

"When you belong to those who have to pay the price for it, then it will not be so fun with the change, says Vittangi resindent..."
with that:

"The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation's Kiruna climate survey ahead of the election

June 2, 2022by the Nature Conservation Association Kiruna Comment
FOR A CLEAR CLIMATE POLICY IN KIRUNA MUNICIPALITY
Global warming is increasing most at our latitudes. We are already seeing clear signs of this. Winters are shortened, the ice becomes more uncertain, the char does not thrive in warmer water.
In order to achieve the Paris Agreement's goal of a maximum of 1.5 degrees global warming, all levels of society must make a strong contribution to what they can. A very important player is the municipality, which has the opportunity to directly influence CO2 emissions.
That is why we have sent a climate survey to all political parties in Kiruna municipality before the election.
Here we follow up with a survey for you as a municipal resident to get your views .
The answers will be reported in Kiruna Annonsblad, here on the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation's website in Kiruna and at a climate coffee in September where representatives of the parties in Kiruna and the general public are invited."

I agree with the largest nature protection association in Sweden, all levels or groups in society must participate in order to be able to change something. I look directly in the direction of our dear neighbors, what can you contribute, what price are you willing to pay.
Now I become polemical or cynical again and rather shut up ;)
By the way, the guy who is making a stand against it and sending children ahead made the demonstration look bigger than it was. He tripled the actual number. I have already counted with all the toddlers/children.

By the way, my Vegemite is already half used up;) The best combination so far is with the sweetness and acidity of the tomato it also works great with peppers. I will cook the BBQ sauce soon times. With sweetness and acidity it combines perfectly. There is here a simple people dish that is perfect for the summer because you can eat it even cold. The Solyanka/Soljanka is based on the play of acidity and sweetness (e.g. pickles, tomato and letcho). It goes perfectly with Vegemite. And I still find that Vegemite can also be combined with cheese and better not alone, maybe with fresh tomato or just a sweet mustard or jam.

Good to hear of your culinary adventures with Vegemite :)

It was also good to see Mark is in Sweden. Of course it is always good manners to sign foundation commercial agreements face to face....................................just saying

Just came across this alternate use for graphite. I suspect it is not competitive with battery storage, but interesting nonetheless as very relevant for Europe who need to consider every available option to reduce dependence on Russian gas going forward.

Funny! Exactly this was brought to my attention yesterday by a friend.

This is a very small facility but let's see when they scale it higher. The challenge is the low energy output (sand) not the capacity. I then answered him with this project. Very few people even know about this here in Germany, but it is ingenious and they are the biggest. The wind turbines store the excess energy in large water basins at the base. The capacity is 10*.

Then I have this info where I am already here:
"Tesla signs contracts worth $5 billion with nickel suppliers
11 aug, 2022
The American electric car manufacturer Tesla has signed supply contracts for nickel products with two Indonesian companies. This was announced by Indonesia's Minister of Investments, Luhut Pandjaitan, the other day, according to Reuters. The negotiations are continuing, the minister said.
Pandjaitan traveled to the United States in April with a delegation of industry representatives to personally meet Elon Musk, the head of Tesla and SpaceX. The following month, the Indonesian president, Joko Widodo, was invited to Boca Chica, Texas, where the future SpaceX rocket will be launched into space, for discussions with the American billionaire about his future projects in the country.
Indonesia sits on the world's largest nickel reserves and is determined to capitalize on it, developing electric car and battery industries high up the processing chain. Therefore, for several years, the export of nickel ore has been banned and instead invested in attracting investors to the country."

Somehow I read this with Dr. Evils voice just before he puts his pinky to the corner of his mouth... 😂
Speaking of Dr Evil well done with your ongoing efforts to get some posters from Hot Crapper to come over here. The absence of a mobile App for TSE probably makes participation for some quite difficult.

HC is now Beach's domain although I'm sure more on this forum than just me have strong suspicions as to who Beach42 really is

I use the TSE mobile app a lot. I find it especially handy because of the pushups that are much faster and easy to open with the app. I found it at the beginning some month ago in the dropdown menu when I pressed top left. Then looked in the menu that pops up in the bottom right. There was an icon for me. But I can't find it again. I write zeeb0t since the question. Strange that I have installed it but can not find the installation button.

😂 Yeah, Tigs and beaches response were quite comical :) you can't argue with people that simply try to interpret anything in a negative way. Well, they found their place.. good for them.

But since I am the "CEO of TSE" and "control what is allowed to be posted"... Go lick my feet, minions!!!

The app is not available in the store. I have written to zeeb0t because I can't explain why I installed it and can't find the menu item. So we just have to be patient until he answers.
Among his statements I found this:
But this is also strange as I have changed my phone in the meantime and migrated all apps. But with the new one I can't find the menu item even though my phone supports the app correctly. Let's wait and see...

Welcome @ACinEur glad you found your way here! The bar can really use guests... is a bit dusty.

But feel free to post in the other threads too, that's what they are for. We try to organize ourselves but that doesn't always work out perfectly so many posts are also sorted in annb0t's announcements. If you feel that a thread does not reflect your topic then write to Semmel he is very good at creating new threads. So, now come first in peace. I give you a cidre from Brittany then one from Normandy. I cannot decide and it doesn't hurt. Welcome and cheers!
