AI is about to significantly change your computer: HP CEO​

HP Inc. (HPQ) CEO Enrique Lores says consumers and businesses are poised to see big changes to their computers within 24 months due to new advances in artificial intelligence.

"What we are working on is to build AI capabilities into the PC," Lores told analysts on a late Tuesday earnings call. "So, consumers or professionals will be able to run AI applications at the edge and will not have to run them on the cloud."

"The benefit this will bring is that if you're a small company and you want to use some of your private data in an AI application, you will not have to upload it, you will be able to run it locally. And also there will be advantages in cost and advantages in latency," he said.

Lores added HP is working closely with chipmakers to integrate to new AI designs into its computers.

Let’s try hire people who have experience in AI and neuromorphic…..oh wait, they don’t exist because Brainchip is THE WORLDS FIRST.

Antonio said at the AGM that the pool of people is already so small within the AI space, so it’s hard enough to get people let alone the area where Brainchip occupy.

I am 100% confident paying the staff we have with bonuses.

Does anybody think Nanden or Rob or any others need to work at Brainchip with their experience? They can go and get a job with one of the top companies and have a cushy job, but they’re here at Brainchip because they’ve seen under the hood and are passionate and excited and motivated and see the potential, and want to be a part of something truly disruptive.

See what would happen is, people vote to not pay people what they’re worth, then let’s say Nanden and Chris stephens and Sean leave, and we adopt the notion of paying bonuses until after something material has surfaced to shareholders, then share price goes down even further because we don’t retain the amazing staff we have who are literally the best of the best, then people will complain that they haven’t achieved anything.

This is a really interesting video to watch for anyone who has the time. Filmed 3 weeks ago with Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon and Wall Street columnist Joanna Stern. Significant points for me were:

• Cristiano is convinced the largest growth opportunity area for AI is NOT in the data centre
• Discussion around stable diffusion, faster speed, real-time contextual understanding
• Shipping of Qualcomm's new SOC for custom CPU expected in September of October with products coming out in late 2023 and more products to be launched at CES 2024
• Cristiano mentions that of the 60+ virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality devices that are out there, the ALL use Qualcomm silicon
• Software defined vehicles are the "must have" in the automotive sector

On a side note, it's hard not to believe that we'll be working in with Qualcomm in sone of these 60+ AR, VR, MR devices at some point, seeing this is our sweet spot with Prophesee.

In terms of the focus on the software defined vehicle, I am reminded that Mercedes EQXX is the most advanced and efficient software designed vehicle ever built and it utilized BrainChip's Akida neuromorphic prowess for keyword spotting.

We are a global company yet we had $200 k revenue over the past 6 months and likely similar amounts over at least the next 3 or 4.

If they could go work in a cushy job with great salary yet they believe in the potential of Brainchip then put their money where their mouths are. Back themselves by taking a salary now and enjoy the spoils and bonuses once we start making billions (if that's what they truly believe). We forked out our hard earned to be a part owner in the company. Sell some IP first before they dilute the company further.

Well, I think we should see the big picture like chapman said.... because of the Quality of staff working for the company. I also think, that the last patent, that was given to the company a few week(s) ago, maybe much more important as some imagine in case of acquiring IP customers...
it`s just a felling in my stomach...sorry I don`t know how to explain it in an other way..

  One of the most important factors in the success of the treatment of a disease is early diagnosis, but what happens when the patient does not feel bad and there are no external symptoms of the disease? There is a huge gap today between the importance of early diagnosis and what actually happens, a lack of continuous contact between the population and the medical centers. In our laboratory at the Technion we are trying to bridge the gap between the clinics and the patients through technological developments. How do we do this? Devices and facilities that can be kept in the clinics, but can reach the patients and perform data analysis online," said Professor Hossam Haick, Dean and Head of the LNBD Group at the Technion, speaking at the Israel-Japan Conference.

  "One of the things we have developed are breath sensors that know how to identify diseases and the stage of progression. The device detects a kind of odor signature of the disease. A breath sample of the patient is taken for 30 seconds non-invasively and a result is obtained within a minute," Haick continued. "We have already done studies in 23 medical centers around the world. We know how to distinguish between 17 different types of diseases, including cancer and various inflammations. Beyond the diagnosis of "healthy" or "sick", we also know, for example, whether the tumor is benign or malignant, without the need for a biopsy or surgery. Experiments with our device have even shown the ability to detect very preliminary signs of cancer. These are people who are healthy today, but may very likely get cancer because of cells that are already detected in their body."

• Haick added that along with the breathing sensors, his lab is developing a kind of sticker that transmits to a smartphone application. "The sticker is reminiscent of children's temporary tattoos. It sticks to the body for several weeks or months and transmits information about the patient's health status. Another challenge we face is imaging devices and technologies. In this framework, we developed an imaging device that includes a sensor and is the size of a credit card. You can use it to distinguish between healthy molecules, breast cancer and a condition that is experienced just before malignant cancer."
  Haick concluded by saying that the next step in the development is the integration of the devices with historical data that will allow not only identification, but also the prediction of a patient's health status.

New SC1260 Series Detects Position, Movement of Vehicle Passengers with Maximum Accuracy​

Yokohama, Japan and Milpitas, Calif., May 30, 2023 --- Socionext Inc., a global leader in high-precision sensor technology, today introduced the SC1260 Series radio-wave ranging sensors for automotive applications. This new series utilizes the 60GHz frequency band and time-division multiplexing (TDM-MIMO) processing with multiple transmitting and receiving antennas that can detect the position and movement of passengers in a vehicle with maximum accuracy.

This SC1260 has an all-in-one configuration incorporating antennas and radar signal processing circuits to achieve maximum detection accuracy in an ultra-low-power, ultra-compact package. The high-precision sensors use a wide band of 6.8GHz (57.1 to 63.9GHz) with an expanded number of receiving antennas by TDM-MIMO processing and built-in radar signal processing circuits for range-finding and angle calculation. The devices enable easy acquisition of three-dimensional (3D) position information without requiring advanced expertise in high-frequency devices and signal processing. combines antennas, wireless circuits, AD converters, FIFO memory, SPI interface, and intelligent power control sequencer for flexible duty cycle control. The power required is only 0.72mW at 0.1% duty cycle operation.
These capabilities make the series optimal for applications such as tracking the position and movements of passengers in a vehicle while suppressing the load on the vehicle battery when the engine is off.
The SC1260 Series complies with the global broadband 60GHz radio equipment standard. Sample and evaluation kit shipments are scheduled for June, with production volumes to be available in Q1 2024.

Moreover, TDM-MIMO processing enables high-precision sensing, such as the detection of passengers when three people are sitting in a row inside the vehicle.
Following the debut of its SC1260AR3, Socionext will continue to develop products that meet customer needs and applications.

i agree. Being present at the Agm allows me to meet some of the most passionate people behind this company. For one, having Duy Le, upfront you may not know but Antonio made it very clear that she is a real asset on the team and behind the scenes im sure she is. (very powerful lady).
So with the new patent and quality of staff yr stomach has every reason to be doing somersaults.

Let’s get rid of Rob Telson who was a Senior Director at Synopsys & also at ARM for 11 years as Global VP of Foundry Sales, also VP of Sales.

Let’s get rid of Sean Hehir who is a Silicon Valley Board Member and also at HP as VP of Strategic Allicances, VP of Microsoft Strategic Alliance, VP of Cisco Strategic Alliance, VP of Accenture Strategic Alliance.

Let’s get rid of Todd Vierra who was Director Field Sales Engineers at ARM for 14 years.

Let’s get rid of Chris Stephens who was at Syntiant as VP of Sales and sold edge devices.

Let’s get rid of everybody at Brainchip who works there, we need a complete reshuffle of our sales, board and management and let’s hire people who have just came out of uni, who have never sold any IP/chips in their life, who haven’t built up any professional relationships throughout the years, have no idea about the importance of an ecosystem , despite the fact that every semiconductor company has an ecosystem.

Let’s try hire people who have experience in AI and neuromorphic…..oh wait, they don’t exist because Brainchip is THE WORLDS FIRST.

Antonio said at the AGM that the pool of people is already so small within the AI space, so it’s hard enough to get people let alone the area where Brainchip occupy.

I am 100% confident paying the staff we have with bonuses.

Does anybody think Nanden or Rob or any others need to work at Brainchip with their experience? They can go and get a job with one of the top companies and have a cushy job, but they’re here at Brainchip because they’ve seen under the hood and are passionate and excited and motivated and see the potential, and want to be a part of something truly disruptive.

See what would happen is, people vote to not pay people what they’re worth, then let’s say Nanden and Chris stephens and Sean leave, and we adopt the notion of paying bonuses until after something material has surfaced to shareholders, then share price goes down even further because we don’t retain the amazing staff we have who are literally the best of the best, then people will complain that they haven’t achieved anything.

I fail to see why people cannot see the bigger picture. Brainchip is a global company competing in a global space, we need to keep up with the big boys.

They will still get their remuneration and will still get the vote and be re-elected to hold their directorships.

If BRN tech is the best thing since sliced bread, does it not attract the best people to work there?

What is the bigger picture relating to signing new licensees? Currently sitting at 18months without a new one. That’s $12million in executive fees for no new engagements.. Hard times they say more so than the dot com crash. Not so hard with their remuneration.

Prove us wrong with performance.

I know it's an Inivation camera and from memory SynSense involved with them.

Haven't dug too deep yet on the Thor project of which some recent details are below.

I did find that what appears to be the same camera is available with the details end of the post. Found it interesting that's it's designed to connect to neuromorphic hardware such as FPGA or Loihi.

Love to see how we'd go connected to it if not attempted already.

THOR-DAVIS: A neuromorphic camera to observe thunderstorms from inboard ISS.

The technical purpose of THOR-DAVIS is to test a new camera concept in space for observations of thunderclouds and their electrical activity at up to a resolution of 10 µs. The scientific purpose is to
conduct video camera observations of thunderclouds and their electrical activity.

The focus is on altitude-resolved measurements of activity at the top of the clouds and the stratosphere above.

The camera type is a so-called neuromorphic camera (or event camera) where pixels are read out asynchronously when the pixel illumination changes. The goal is to understand, under realistic
conditions, the use of such a camera for future use in space for observations of processes in severe electrical storms. The camera has a high temporal resolution 100.000 equivalent frame per
second and a huge dynamic range of about 120 dB and is particularly well suited for this kind of observations. The camera weights about 200g and consumes about 1.5A in operation and is
particularly well suited for space applications.

In this presentation we will give the status of the development of the THOR-DAVIS experiment to be conducted by the Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen during his upcoming ESA mission
Huggin onboard the International Space Station (ISS). We’ll present the design of the payload based on a Davis 346 neuromorphic camera mounted on top of a Nikon D5 camera for handheld
operation. The 2 cameras are controlled by an AstroPi unit based on a Raspberry Pi computer board.

Finally, we’ll give preliminary results of laboratory measurements made with the flight model.

[New product] DAVIS346 AER​

A model equipped with a connector for the AER (Address Event Representation) protocol in the popular DAVIS346.

Designed specifically for advanced neuromorphic hardware research, it allows direct interface to custom neuromorphic hardware such as FPGAs and Intel Loihi.

DAVIS346 AER Features​

• 180nm CIS technology DAVIS sensor prototype
• Simultaneous output of QVGA or higher (1 x 346) resolution events and frames from a single sensor (via USB)
• Event-only output via AER connector
• Event output provides up to 120dB dynamic range, <1us latency, 1us time resolution, and up to 1200 million events/second throughput
• 6-axis IMU, up to 8kHz sampling rate
• Less than 5mA power consumption with 180V supply

About the AER protocol​

The AER protocol used a variable number of lines (buses) to transmit data and two lines (REQ and ACK) to synchronize the data at the sender and receiver asynchronously with a four-phase handshake. A simple protocol (also known as an asynchronous protocol).

If I have to label every single achievement made in the last 12 months ranging from ecosystem, new chips being taped out, recognition from industry and much more, then some shareholders have tunnel vision.

Not 1 single person is happy that there hasn’t been a single license sold since November of 2021. But it’s also pretty clear that customers that they’ve been engaged with are waiting for 2.0 due to the adjustments and tweaks made at the customers request.
Now should we blame Peter and Anil for making a product (akida1000) for only a few products? Or should we take onboard what our engagements and customers are saying so it’s tailored to their applications.

At the AGM Sean said (or Antonio) that they don’t just announce every NDA/partnership because not every partnership may lead to anything commercial. Now does that not mean that the partnerships that they do announce through social media mean that we can take that as an almost gold plated guarantee that those partnerships announced will lead to something commercial/material?? That’s the way I see it.

Call me naive but that’s the way I see it.
You only have to read the wording on all the partnerships announced. They all basically say “they will design & integrate akida into products”

I remember reaching out to Prophesee CEO a few months ago, I asked him what are the differences between a demo partner and a technology partner, his response back to me shocked me. He responded with saying he is “looking forward to turning it into a commercial one” (with Brainchip)
