Chinese Ambassador Calls for Denunciation of Illegal Mining and Reaffirms Beijing's Support for Kinshasa
The Chinese Ambassador to the DRC, Zhao Bin, reaffirmed his commitment to preserving his country's image and strengthening Sino-Congolese cooperation, already well established thanks to the joint efforts of Presidents Xi Jinping and Félix Tshisekedi.
At the inauguration of the Confucius Center at the University of Kinshasa on Monday, March 17, 2025, the Chinese diplomat called on Congolese citizens to report any illegal activities carried out by Chinese nationals in the mining sector.
"The Sino-Congolese cooperation model has set a good example in the world in terms of mutual assistance and co-development," he emphasized.
Zhao Bin emphasized that China firmly opposes any illegal mining in eastern DRC and assured that no legally registered Chinese companies operate there.
"I take this opportunity to reiterate that China firmly opposes illicit mining in any form in eastern Congo," he said.
He urged the Congolese population to report any suspicious activity.
"I urge you to monitor and, if you observe any illicit activities there, do not hesitate to report them to us.
I promise to address these cases promptly," he insisted.
