Last year, China set a record for the number of new coal power projects since 2015. A total of 106 gigawatts of new coal-fired power plants are now in the pipeline, equivalent to two large coal-fired power plants a week. Most of these planned developments are located in provinces that have been hit hard in recent years by electricity shortages due to heat waves.

I always thought it was one coal-fired power station a week. So twice as many.

Lets have some speculation on what is going on with Talnode Si? From the latest tweets and from the webinar, it appears that something is cooking. They seem to have at least one customer and it appears to be Audi or Porsche. Porsche would make more sense in my opinion, but who knows? In any case, they seem to be holding off on an Announcement until they have the financing secure. I actually like that because all too often in the past did we have non-binding agreements that just fizzled out without results. This time it seems to be more serious. We might get hit with a sledge hammer of an announcement when the financing is finished. Which means, financing might be part of the deal. So they might have come to an agreement that the customer wants the product and are now in negotiation how this can be arranged. Of course, the deal can still fall through due to financial issues but... speculating on that, maybe there is some up-front financing by the customer in exchange for part of the project and/or grand applications running. I have no experience but if its the customer only, it would probably be a few weeks. If its a grand application this is probably a few months. Does anyone know how long something like that typically takes? To summarize my random babbling:

Assumption:
* Talga has come to an agreement with a customer on Talnode-Si, which includes volume and location, maybe timelines
* Financing is not yet finished

Questions:
* Approximately how long do grant applications take? Minimum 2 months?
* Approximately how long do negotiations on project financing with a customer take? I guess at least a few weeks to establish the legal wording and probably a few weeks more to come to an agreement in the first place. So 4 weeks at a minimum?
* Approximately how long does to take to negotiate the loan component of such a project with a number of banks? Weeks? Months? No idea.

Lets say this doesnt end up buried because parties cant agree on something, are we looking at some announcement towards the end of March? April?

I’m sure I remember something being said that we weren’t going to commercialise Talnode-Si while we were still trying to get the first phase of Talnode-C up and running and funded. UNLESS customers were willing to fund it along maybe with some grants. But i don’t think there was going to be equity involved, all that is for the mine and factory.

So i agree there’s a strong chance of customer funding if they really want it, grants might be the thing holding it up.

Would be cool if it was the new Porsche Taycan, that thing is getting serious coverage about its range and charge speed. Although it’s the 2024 Taycan so seems too soon to be that

I think before you could have financing discussions, you'd need to do a feasibility study that explored the economics of manufacture. Mark mentioned that they were going to do one in a previous webinar, but didn't mention it in this webinar. In the same way that Mark mentioned that they made an announcement about the lithium deposit because they were required to, it seems like if they had completed the feasibility study, they'd be required to announce it.

Commercial reality of these things is that any study that has many inputs is almost entirely at the company's discretion of when to put it out to market, unlike say assay results that require minimal interpretation and need to be put out asap as there's no plausible excuse not to.

The market has probably had enough announcements of MOUs and LOIs to shrug off a half baked Tal-Si announcement. Next one needs to be the real deal to get some traction.

I'm a couple of days late, but have to say I am so grateful to see Mark finally addressed the topic of The ORB.

I submitted this question on the day of the Webinar. I thought Talga needs to know that we haven't forgotten about The ORB, and quite frankly I'm sure 99.9% of shareholders would touch The ORB given the opportunity. I never actually expected the question to be addressed, but the interview coordinator understood the mission (whoever you are, legend), and here we are!

Now Mark refers to it as "The Great Graphite Ball" which I admit has a charming ring to it. But I'm sorry Mark, in folklore it's known as The ORB.
But with that out of the way, we have some answers!

• The ORB is healthy.
• It is owned by a shareholder.
• It has been relocated (currently in storage).
• It will be installed in the foyer of a building (a new building?).

Speculation is running wild to try and find out who the owner is.
Earlier in the webinar Mark mentioned Yandall (Creasy) has some graphite objects in his possession, and Mr Creasy has the financial means to buy and display The ORB, so this theory has merit.

But then again, @Gero addressed this theory with a "I couldn't possibly comment" comment. I would have let it slide but the winky face is very suspicious. So Gero is officially a suspect as well.

I hoped Marks comment "everyone can see it and touch it on their way into the building" meant it would be some kind of business foyer, but I don't think we can rule out a private residence. Because a few minutes later Mark says "In future years hopefully you could be invited to our shareholders place and see the big ball to which you mention" - Sounds like a private residence. So who is this mystery shareholder, and can we be friends?
