At least our enemies have to deal with the same rubbish.
In addition, because of this deal, the requirements in this matter have been strengthened. We have all that behind us.

"The green crisis
Chinese company considers cancelling record investment in Sweden
Chinese company PTL is considering cancelling its factory project. The company is unable to fulfil the conditions set by the Inspectorate for Strategic Products (ISP).
‘We are very disappointed,’ said Dr Yu Han, PTL's chief representative in Europe.

Published: 19 December 2024

In a press release issued on Thursday afternoon, the company said that PTL was unable to fulfil the requirements.

‘The conditions are not reasonable, neither from a business perspective nor given the short time frame,’ PTL representatives write.

‘Big loss’
- We are very disappointed. It would be a great loss for PTL but also for the Timrå and Sundsvall region and for Sweden if this important investment does not materialise, says Yu Han, PTL's chief representative in Europe.

A new company would be formed in Sweden for the establishment in Torsboda, and ISP sets conditions to regulate the Chinese main company's influence over that company - a condition that PTL does not believe it can fulfil.
Another condition concerns the timetable, which is far too tight, according to PTL.

13 billion investment threatened*
PTL has the opportunity to appeal the decision of the Swedish Inspectorate for Strategic Products, but has not yet taken a position on this.

The establishment in Torsboda was presented in early May 2023, when it was announced that the factory would be completed around the turn of the year 2025/2026 and create around 1,900 jobs for the region."

On the other side of the gulf it is already finished.

Now I'm thinking of NV and TLG as at the beginning when NV had chosen that place.

The deal with Nyobolt has another effect, as I see it.
Now it's all over the media and impossible to look past. That certainly has its effect on the antis, to see that it is now real and has a real background and can no longer be negated with polemics and lies and false information. Now it's mushrooms vs real climate protection, no more theory.

vs broken heads

Semmel, hey mate, I'd like one of that Shiraz down there. Stands behind the others there.
And I'd like a few nuts to go with it.

Yeah, help yourself mate.. I have the distinct feeling the mud pit will be needed pretty soon again. I'll water it.. it's all dry and chunky now. Almost like terracotta after baking unused for so long in the sun.

On the off chance to be rambling.. read this:

It wasn't even the prioritization of climate.

The fastest path to global decarbonization would have looked nothing like what we did.

Reducing local emissions in the short term is often counterproductive for reducing global emissions over the long term.
(the thing that actually matters for climate)

Artificially reducing the demand for electricity through mandates or price controls reduces the incentive to invest in and develop new sources of electricity.

You get a small, short-term reduction in emissions, but postpone much larger future reductions.

Building a new methane-fueled DRI plant would increase local emissions, but it would displace coal-based iron production globally.
(which emits more CO2 and more methane)

The only way the entire world switches to a new energy source is if it's more economic than the current one.

The only way you get there is by investing in and scaling technology. Limiting economic uses of energy is directly counterproductive.

Think of it like a Brachistochrone curve.

The fastest path is not a straight line, and it's not the one that gives you the most initial speed.

An actual focus on climate would have prioritized increasing productivity and investment in technology.

Exactly my opinion. The best way to decarbonize is to expand Solar and wind, with battery grid storage.. and overproduction capacity of a factor 2 to 3 on good days so there is still enough for bad days. Tony Seba Style.

That's the only thing I can see so far:
Minutes of the Environment and Building Committee 2025-02-06

Maybe I've missed something.
Might not be the one. The minutes for our detailed plan is listed under "Kommunstyrelsen" (municipal), whereas the minutes you post above are from the building committee.

Unfortunately the municipal minutes seem to only be announced on radio, not sure who's idea that is 🫠

"You can listen to the municipal council meetings on your local radio station 93.7 MHZ. You can also listen to the radio broadcast in Abisko-Björkliden on 98.4 MHZ and in Karesuando on 107.7 MHZ"

It's the only log/protocol I could find. The resort doesn't seem for me out of place compared to others.

Maybe the meeting went for a long time (as I suggested on another forum) and the minutes are yet to be produced. It's somebody's job for tomorrow. Lets be patient.

This is interesting. Grok thinks the meeting that happened yesterday isn't actually the decision making authority, they will make a recommendation, but the decision making might actually happen on a meeting scheduled for June 16.
