BRN Discussion Ongoing

Nothing is new here for the 1000 eyes but IMO are worth keeping together, chippers rushing to catch up on posts may have missed them :)

Once again we engage our common sense, logic and reasoned analysis in relation to what is unfolding before us.

Is SONY using our IP through a third party?

We cant forget the last podcast in which the CEO of Prophesee raved about Akida and the opportunity the Prophesee and BRN partnership offers.
Here is what Prophesee CEO Luca Verre had to say

IMO these links cannot be made any more clear.

No announcement from SONY, BRN or their partners.
Just Brainchip execs aiming for 100 staff by EOY offering support to global companies to apply the AKIDA IP in their products because it is going to be the global standard for AI.

Brainchip is on the right track to commercialisation on a scale we will not be able to fathom for years to come.

NDAs and EAPs are causing a viod in information to excite the market but they are hiding the work being actioned behind the scenes.

Mercedes is one example as FF just discovered using his logic.
1667451130385.png

How many of these examples are current waiting for the right time to reveal themselves in full.

Just as Edge Impulse did today as outlined by BaconLover and FF in earlier posts

"some months ago a poster asked Edge Impulse whether they were using AKIDA in FOMO and it was denied."

Today we have this being openly advertised

These NDAs are a pain in the arse for a company’s share price but for customer relations they are invaluable.

Right now I’m happy to accept the silence to allow the likes of SONY to mass produce products with our IP.

Once in the market, having first to market advantage and a product that is far superior to any other available the royalties for BRN will be exponential.

The CEO hasn’t lied yet, so I will sit back and allow these comments directly from him to be executed.

  • We will be in the black by EOD 2022.
  • We are building a large sustainable company
  • Akida will become the global standard for AI and
  • By the 2023 AGM I will be standing before you discussing results not activities.

I will remain patient.

Reading the stats I don’t believe it is the AKIDA version for three reasons:

1. The performance improvement is not great enough at only 50% power saving over Jetson. Needs to be 50 to 150 times more power efficient.

2. The ARM processor is an A55 and the Renesas article claimed it was an A33 they intending combining with AKIDA if I am remembering correctly.

3. AKIDA would not under most circumstances need the assistance of a CPU to do the processing.

When looking for applications of Akida, I always keep in mind Ella's advice:
" 'Tain't what you do -
It's the way that you do it
."

With that in mind, I look for clues like:
digital SNN,
sparsity,
N-of-M coding,
Akida,
and, of course, NDA.

I’m not sure if anyone has responded to this yet but thought I would given you have over 40 likes.

Im an accountant for what that’s worth before you read on.

You can’t use “creative accountancy” in a quarterly.

The quarterly report is a cash flow report. It’s cash movements only.

It does not show revenue at all.

Excluding continuous disclosures obligations for a moment (simply because I’m not sure if this example would require an announcement), We could invoice a customer $5 million on the 30th of September and if the cash wasn’t received it would not show in the quarterly.

“Creative accountancy” isn’t easy when it comes to asx listed companies.

Their obligation from a compliance perspective is to prepare general purpose financial statements which have specific requirements from an accounting standards perspective. These standards determine how all sorts parameters within the financial statements are recognised, including but not limited to revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities and equity.

The entire purpose of having these standards is to ensure that third parties whom rely on the financial statements (banks, investors, shareholders) can in fact rely on those financial statements when making financial decisions.

I appreciate your want for improvement but suggesting the accountant move his pen in another direction is not the answer.

Cheers
Sorry to take so long responding @SERA2g, I've had a busy week.

1. So I saw in your response that the 4C "does not show revenue at all".??

2. Also saw: "It does, however, shows cash receipts for income that was accrued in prior and the current period, but, we don’t know how much of the cash receipted came from which periods".

3. Also noted: "We also don’t know how much revenue was accrued this quarter for which the cash was not receipted".

So I am looking to try and find clear definitions and the implications of what you have said here, for instance what is the difference between revenue and income. Might also add that some of your statements which I have numbered above have left me somewhat confused about the nomenclature you have mentioned, and how would one interpret such.

Investopedia says "revenue" is: money generated from normal business operations.
they also state "income" is: money that a person or entity receives in exchange for their labour or products.

So Investopedia are not much help in terms of an explicit understanding on the above for me, because the definitions to me look to imply the same thing ??

Anyway getting to the point I raised about "creative accounting", I see from your response, that I did not provide enough color to describe the entirety of what I was trying to suggest.

First off, I definitely understand (and don't want BRN breaking any laws) that under ASX rules all accounting should be accurate and published within their rules, and stated this in my recent post #34861. However what I didn't say is; given that BRN have NDA's and EAP's as well as contracts with MegaChips (who may be onselling BRN IP) and Renesas, would it be possible for BRN to structure contracts and other income instruments in such a way so as to enable payment for BRN IP and other services over a staggered period of time rather just in one individual payment.?

This may enable receivables (payments) to be received over a longer period of time and thus circumvent the "lumpiness" we have just witnessed.
Anyway thanks for your response, and go BRN.

That's interesting. The last paragraph states "Mr Schäfer said the introduction of stricter ‘Euro 7’ emissions laws in Europe will also see Mercedes-Benz significantly reduce the number of engines on offer across its line-up this decade."It will be followed by a global engine that we will develop 100 percent ourselves and industrialise together with Geely,” he said."In order to play at the absolute top in future topics such as infotainment, in autonomous driving, in artificial intelligence or in the topic of chips, we have to concentrate. 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class the last model developed for petrol and diesel engines only – report

The 2023 Mercedes E-Class will reportedly be the final vehicle from the German luxury car giant based on a platform solely designed to accommodate petrol and diesel engines – and not offer the option of electric power.
In an interview with industry publication Automobilwoche, Mercedes-Benz development chief Markus Schäfer said the forthcoming E-Class is the last model developed purely for internal-combustion (petrol and diesel) engines – and not electric power.
"As things stand today, the E-Class and its derivatives will be the last Mercedes-Benz model to be created on a pure internal combustion engine platform," Mr Schäfer said in the translated interview.

It's therefore suggested all future models after the new E-Class will sit on platforms designed for electric and petrol, diesel or hybrid propulsion – before Mercedes-Benz discontinues petrol and diesel engines in certain countries from 2030.
While Mercedes-Benz has not announced a date to stop offering petrol and diesel models entirely, as a general rule, passenger vehicle platforms from the company typically work on a life cycle of approximately seven or eight years, taking the new E-Class to the end of the decade.
The current C-Class and S-Class are based on the same underpinnings as the next-generation E-Class, but are expected to be replaced with new models before 2030.

2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class the last model developed for petrol and diesel engines only – report

Mercedes-Benz detailed its transition to an all-electric future in July 2021, “where market conditions allow”.
It’s thought the caveat was added to allow sales of petrol and diesel models to continue in regions where emissions regulations lag – such as Australia.

Mr Schäfer said the introduction of stricter ‘Euro 7’ emissions laws in Europe will also see Mercedes-Benz significantly reduce the number of engines on offer across its line-up this decade.
"It will be followed by a global engine that we will develop 100 percent ourselves and industrialise together with Geely,” he said.
"In order to play at the absolute top in future topics such as infotainment, in autonomous driving, in artificial intelligence or in the topic of chips, we have to concentrate. The future certainly doesn't lie in ten different powertrains."

More Mercedes/Geely links and a trail of other breadcrumbs to be found here.

ARTIKEL TEILEN

LONDON, Nov. 2, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- ECARX, a global mobility tech company, will see its next-generation digital head unit (DHU) reach European motorists with the continued roll-out of the new smart #1, expected to begin customer deliveries from end of 2022.

smart #1 Digital Head Unit by ECARX
smart #1 Digital Head Unit by ECARX

The ECARX-developed digital head unit, running a smart and ECARX co-developed operating system known as smart OS, gives users a more customisable and intuitive experience while exemplifying the smart brand spirit. Based on a design concept set by Mercedes-Benz, the DHU introduces smart's first ever in-car virtual assistant in the form of a digital fox avatar and an 'Inspiring Planet' design concept as a central feature. The co-developed operating system provides a smooth, efficient, and enjoyable Human Machine Interface (HMI) that includes multi-context speech recognition and the ability to download and access a range of global apps.

Delivering a seamless customer experience, the central touchscreen controls vehicle functions and the infotainment system while also controlling a range of driving and user comfort modes. Shortcut icons give quick access to most frequently used vehicle functions and media can be controlled from the home screen at any time via a dynamic widget. Displays are maximised through a split-screen design allowing for a simultaneous view of both the navigation route and media controls, and a pop-up screen with camera view will be activated in certain driving scenarios.
The smart #1 digital cockpit uses next-generation Snapdragon® Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. As key components of the Snapdragon® Digital Chassis™ solutions, the next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms are designed to transform in-vehicle experiences, supporting higher levels of computing intelligence needed for advanced capabilities featured in next generation vehicles. This includes highly intuitive artificial-intelligence (AI) experiences for in-car virtual assistance, cutting-edge technologies for immersive audio and rich visual experiences, natural interactions between the vehicle and driver, and contextual safety use cases for drivers and passengers. With over-the-air (OTA) capabilities, the system can continuously be improved throughout the lifetime of the car.
Unlike some traditional OEM-supplier relationship, where the suppliers are brought in to fulfil a specification, smart and ECARX worked together from the initial product development phase of the smart #1 in 2019, with each party contributing their own experience and expertise to co-develop a fully integrated digital system.
Commenting, ECARX Chairman and CEO, Ziyu Shen said: "Millions of users in different regions are already enjoying ECARX-developed digital cockpit solutions but we are especially excited to roll-out our latest generation Digital Head Unit in the smart #1 for customers in Europe. Co-developed with smart and based on Mercedes-Benz's design direction, we've jointly delivered a smooth, efficient and enjoyable user experience that embodies the smart brand, on a system that can run global apps and content. Built on a next generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, combined with ECARX's self-developed software stack, it is one of the most advanced platforms currently available."
Dirk Adelmann, CEO smart Europe, said: "We are very happy with the solution we've created together with ECARX for the smart #1. This is the first smart vehicle that is benefitting from the expertise in tailor made software and hardware integration that ECARX brings into our partnership. We are looking forward to the possibilities opening up for our future products and ultimately for our customers."

Hi @Diogenese
I did not find the sheet you did. In it it references 2 x A55 ARM processors but chucks in an A33 ARM processor.

Does this up the AKIDA chances???

Hi FF,

This is the link for the spec sheet:

About the MH11-V2L-1

Download the MH11-V2L-1 product brief.

... which is:

I then googled Cortex M33 and plucked this link out of the blue:

Prof Google: -
FPU = floating-point unit
The IDAU is used to indicate to the processor if a particular memory address is Secure, Non-secure Callable (NSC), or Non-secure, and provides the region number within which the memory address resides It can also mark a memory region to be exempted from security checking, for example, a ROM table.
NVIC is an on-chip controller that provides fast and low latency response to interrupt-driven events in ARM Cortex-M MCU
s.

So Misty have just copied the Renesas datasheet.

As to Akida, not yet, it seems.

The future certainly doesn't lie in ten different powertrains."

2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class the last model developed for petrol and diesel engines only – report

Due in 2023, the new-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be the last model to be based on a platform built for traditional engines only – and not electric power – according to a German report.

Mercedes Midsize Electric Sedan Coming In 2024

Autocar reports that Mercedes is planning a counterpart to its C Class sedan as the first electric model in the ‘Entry Luxury’ segment. In terms of technology, however, the new car will differ from the companies current electric sedans, the EQS and EQE. The electric counterpart to the C Class will be launched in 2024 as a CLA-size 4-door sedan with technologies from the Vision EQXX concept car and will be complemented by an AMG offshoot a year later.

Electrive says the electric C Class may be slightly shorter than its combustion engine counterpart. The current C Class is between 4.75 and 4.79 meters long, depending on the variant. The current CLA comes in at 4.69 meters. The new model, potentially called the EQC Sedan, could be a few centimeters shorter than the current C Class vehicles.

The new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) will serve as the basis for the midsize electric sedan. That means it could offer more interior space than the C Class despite having slightly smaller exterior dimensions. Since there are currently no models based on the MMA, no technical data is available yet. Electrive expects it will be at or slightly above the level of competing models such as the Polestar 2, BMW i4, or Tesla Model 3.

Robert Lesnik, head of exterior design at Mercedes, tells Autocar the AMG version of the new sedan will feature active aerodynamics based on the EQXX, such as a movable diffuser and an active spoiler. The EQXX is only 1.35 meters high, which compromises rear seat passenger comfort. Presumably the new sedan will depart from the EQXX concept enough to address that shortcoming.

A white paper from TATA

"AI can analyze medical images quickly and precisely, enabling precision medicine and personalized healthcare. Medical imaging machines can now be connected to the cloud where algorithms analyze data and help doctors screen, assess, and diagnose patients.

So, what will the future of medical imaging look like?
Find out in our whitepaper here - - https://bit.ly/3sPYcgR"

The future of medical imaging

Assessments by the algorithm are more reproducible and less subjective. Studies have shown that AI algorithms are more effective and efficient in identifying diseases than human experts. AI algorithms can read images in less time with higher accuracy (up to 95% in some cases). For example, emerging research suggests that AI could play an important role in improving breast cancer screening outcomes. An AI model reduced false positive results by 25% and reduced radiologist workload by more than 62%. By analyzing vast amounts of historic patient data, AI solutions can also provide real-time support to clinicians to help identify risks. For example, hospital re-admission risks which highlight a patient’s increased chance of returning to the hospital within 30 days of discharge.

Hi @Falling Knife

This is a very significant generously shared post.

Given it should be bookmarked by many can I make the suggestion that you edit it by adding a link to the podcast with Prophesee CEO Luca Verre because having listened to what he states about AKIDA I am prepared to say that Sony could not logically avoid using AKIDA.

My opinion only DYOR

AKIDA BALLISTA
Thanks, you are welcome, and that particular podcast is already included.
I added this heading, "Here is what Prophesee CEO Luca Verre had to say", to make it stand out a little more

I agree with your the statement "Sony could not logically avoid using AKIDA"
Thats why I collated this information, as it screams to me that this is the case.

So looking forward to the next 2 years.....
From cold dead hands they will get mine.

Regular
Reading the stats I don’t believe it is the AKIDA version for three reasons:

1. The performance improvement is not great enough at only 50% power saving over Jetson. Needs to be 50 to 150 times more power efficient.

2. The ARM processor is an A55 and the Renesas article claimed it was an A33 they intending combining with AKIDA if I am remembering correctly.

3. AKIDA would not under most circumstances need the assistance of a CPU to do the processing.

Over to you @Diogenese

I thought this too. However considering that if AKIDA IP was being used in this device, then the power saving (by using AKIDA IP) may be restricted due to the nature of the hardware.

Paper just out recently, not sure if posted already.

Haven't read it as way over my head technically but keyword search hit.

Not using Akida as yet but I suggest definitely aware of "some" of its capabilities (SOC).

They mention Intels accelerator but maybe need to know we pretty good at that too

Seeing in California maybe one of the BRN boys or girls can pop over for a chat with a sample :)
