Bottom line is if the US/West wants a slice of Manano (so China doesn't control the Lithium market for the next 100years) they have to play by the ICSID rules . I think this is the long and short of it . Felix now backed into a corner needs to give AVZ an out . I'm sure he would rather completely f--k over AVZ, but circumstances have changed . I'm still not ruling out a resolution prior to the commencement of the ICSID .

President Félix Tshisekedi Calls for Measures to Restore Public Finances

President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo called for urgent measures to restore public finances in the context of the war of aggression imposed by Rwanda.

He stated this in his statement at the 42nd meeting of the Council of Ministers, held on Friday, May 2, at the African Union City.

According to the minutes read by the Minister of Media, the President of the Republic noted the need, in the face of the war, to apply rigorous control of the macroeconomic framework.

"This conflict is generating a significant increase in security spending in a context of limited resources.

"This particular situation requires rigorous monitoring of the macroeconomic framework in order to prepare for the acceleration of development through the implementation of urgent measures aimed at the recovery and consolidation of public finances," stated Patrick Muyaya, Minister of Communication and Media and Government Spokesperson.

President Félix Tshisekedi, quoted by Government Spokesperson Patrick Muyaya, explained that, in concrete terms, the exceptional measures will focus on streamlining spending on certain institutions whose relevance is no longer proven, but which continue to mobilize significant resources.

Finally, the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been instructed by the Head of State to identify and analyze the performance of recently created structures, which are at risk of being closed or reconfigured.

Hmmm !.jpg

I know a great place to start

LOL. I wasn't going to contribute further to this "absurd " conversation. I'm sick of it.

But you sir are one out of the box. You've just told everyone you'll follow August's adviceAFTER mentioning "their embedded culture of corruption...." in your post.

Brilliant Einstein.

Fuck me.
Did you see me name any ministers or directly name anyone on X?

No, you didn’t.

But if you're struggling with that distinction, maybe next time I’ll use crayons instead of words to keep things simple for the end of the IQ bell-curve you're representing.

Oh. You didn't name ministers. Cheers.
So, er, you weren't referring to the DRC government then?

'Cause that's a relief. 'Cause if you refer to them (DRC government) as being corrupt, criminal, untrustworthy, dirty rotten stinking thieves, they might be offended.

And we mightn't get a ML, or, er, somethin'.

I'll leave it there I reckon. Case proven.

The case is still very much open I’m afraid.

Let me be clear, stating that there's nothing to gain from spamming government officials, while acknowledging the well-known issue of corruption, which even the DRC admits is entirely different from launching personal attacks or engaging in public harassment.

I didn’t bring up this obvious fact just to restate it. I did so to explain my position.

Everyone posting it’s worth $2 per share…. Fuck that. I want more. Way more for this resource and the illegal bullshit we’ve been through. Court rulings will be in AVZ favour and that’s $10b USD minimum (~$A4.30ish per share). $2 is a pisstake if true.
Yep, this thing is worth a fuck-tonne to whomever takes it through to production.

Think strategically. This isn’t about calling out corrupt actors and their feelings it’s the political optics of the USA investing into a country that has ingrained corruption. Similar but not the same.

Yes everyone knows the DRC is corrupt but there historically hasn’t been a constant barrage of social media warriors working their beautiful magic calling it out at every chance they can get (not saying it’s a bad thing and I’ve done my fair share too!). But at the pointy end all the big dog players (partially the USA!) will want to spin this as a winning move forward, building trusting and long lasting partnerships for joint economic growth blah blah blah. The usual political spin…

However, if every media release or policy commentary is hijacked by corruption call outs it would just provide an easy win for anyone who is against these partnerships (such as China and its growing “behind the scenes” media influence or anti trump activists) to leverage and build a narrative to divide, cause unrest and possibly influence future investment decisions. Future Spitballing but maybe like these over the top ESG (such as net zero) commitments companies have been pressured into by shareholders when making investments… but with maybe investments in corruption Instead? Dunno.

Anyways no idea what I’m trying to say just a various thoughts on the processes and messages by those who might be ITK. Probably safer to relax then ramp up the the anti-corruption campaign at this point in time. Let’s play it out.

$12 for balance on my post.
Makes sense, to be honest what I really object to is when Jens says for the umpteenth time to be respectful because negotiations are happening and I just think fuck off bullshit artist! And it makes me want to do the opposite.
We've heard it all before, it was the 'pointy end' years ago. I've had an absolute gut full, let's hope something actually is happening but if not ICSID 'is' happening and that's the one thing we know for sure. Then they'll either have to make a deal or slowly have their assets stripped to pay us out.
There is always so much hearsay going around but I'm just keeping in mind that all of it to date has proven to be absolute fucking bullshit.

Unlike some I don't think this security /peace deal is the catalyst for getting a deal for a 1 Billion + tone high grade Lithium deposit over the line . The United States are quite capable of protecting their strategic assets where ever they may be .

The fact that USA is capable of protecting assets is the whole point. Minerals for security.

If the DRC just give priority access to the minerals to USA without the minerals for security deal, then what leverage would the DRC have to entice USA to provide security to stop what M23 is doing, stealing minerals from the DRC mines in the East?

Do we want ROI IN 2025 or more risk on the long long full ICSID route, remember it can take years after an ICSID decision to get any negotiated settlement.
Step back & look at where we are now: 1) Jan 2025 CCP allows CATH/Pei to fund AVZ so China maintains a legal route as well as illegal Zijin, 2) because US Trump Admin wants DRC critical minerals, with Kobold as a vehicle; 3) now DRC & Rwanda have submitted proposals for peace to US, with Military (peace) for Minerals deal (esp Manono) due in a few months.

Re DRC, keep criticism constructive but nothing rude or derogatory, until Deal is signed in a few months, please.

IMO DYOR. Br Sparrowhawk 🙏💪

DRC-Rwanda: Draft peace agreement officially submitted to the United States (diplomacy)

The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda have submitted their contributions, which constitute a preliminary draft of a peace agreement, as provided for in the declaration of principles signed in Washington under the auspices of the United States, a senior American official announced Monday.

"I welcome the draft peace proposal received from the DRC and Rwanda. This is an important step toward fulfilling the commitments made in the Declaration of Principles, and I look forward to their continued commitment to peace," said Massad Boulos, senior advisor for Africa at the U.S. State Department.

The two countries had committed, during a meeting held on April 26 in Washington, to present a joint text by May 2, 2025 at the latest. This commitment, endorsed by Foreign Ministers Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner (DRC) and Olivier Nduhungirehe (Rwanda), is part of a broader diplomatic process, combining the initiatives of Nairobi, Luanda and Doha, under the coordination of the East African Community (ECA), SADC and with the support of the African Union.

The document currently being drafted includes commitments on sovereignty, security, regional economic cooperation, the return of displaced persons, as well as renewed support for the UN mission in the DRC (MONUSCO).
In the event of a persistent divergence on the content of the text, the declaration of principles provides for a ministerial meeting in Washington, under the mediation of the American Secretary of State.

This step marks a major development in regional and international efforts to end the conflict in eastern DRC, where tensions remain high between Kinshasa, Kigali and armed groups active in the region, including the AFC/M23.

We all understand your frustrations Samus, we have all had a gutful too with the never ending hearsays that never eventuated into something, but what is REAL is AVZ have gone from fucked to holding all the cards, that much is TRUE and this US / DRC mineral pact for peace is REAL too and of course KOBOLD wanting to TO AVZ Manono is a theme that has been drumming for a sustained period of time now with plenty of links to support the narrative.

Then finally, what else is true is ISCID deliberations coming real soon and as we all know, AVZ holds all the cards there too, so one has to conclude that there should be a end point to this miserey some time this year in our favour on a probability scale.

Now we all know that i have been filthy regards to FT for a looong time, called him every name in the sun, plus the toxic associates, but if putting my tongue in the cue rack for a couple of months or so is going to help deliver a just result for all of us long term suffering holders, then i have the discipline to do just that...........hoping you and all of my other comrades here, HC & X can do the same.

The prize is worthy to do so.

I mean it makes sense, if negotiations are already on going you want them as quiet as possible, both to not antagonise either party and from our side, there is probably more value in letting them just sweep this under the rug (provided we are adequately compensated). Ideally we would want to be in a China-US bidding war for supply control.... which is probably what DRC wants as well both sides throwing money into the DRC that can go missing. I thought US were going to pony up 5 years ago when China started massively investing to lock up supply... mistakes were made but in the next 5 years it looks like the battle will really commense.

With Labor in office, our dollar will probably really get smashed down too, so settling in USD might be a much bigger win.

DRC-US Deal: "I will never sell out the DRC's wealth"

Head of State Félix Tshisekedi took the opportunity on Monday, May 5, 2025, during the ceremony celebrating International Press Freedom Day held at the Hôtel du Rivière in Kinshasa, to denounce the misinterpretation by certain media outlets of the deal involving strategic minerals in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

For him, these interpretations are unfounded and are part of orchestrated campaigns to weaken the country's economic sovereignty and undermine its strategic repositioning efforts.

“I cannot ignore the numerous media manipulations surrounding a strategic partnership currently being finalized between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the United States of America, concerning the development of our critical minerals.

Some statements, sometimes relayed without verification by some sections of the press, wrongly refer to an alleged sell-off of our natural resources.

These self-denials are naturally unfounded, but often stem from orchestrated campaigns to weaken our economic sovereignty and undermine our country's efforts to strategically reposition itself on the world stage,” declared Félix Tshisekedi.
