AVZ Discussion 2022

Not sure the US will be wanting to invest billions into the DRC to help a stolen Chinese mine export more efficiently.

Major Chinese copper and gold producer Zijin Mining Group Co. said a slowing global economy, geopolitical tensions, and resource nationalism could restrict its overseas deal-making ambitions.

Net income rose 46% to 15 billion yuan ($2.1 billion) in the first half, bolstered by higher prices for its commodities and cost controls, Zinjin said Friday in a stock exchange filing.

Still, the company flagged negative factors in the future potentially impacting “the company’s revenue, profits, merger and acquisitions of new overseas projects.”

China’s dominant role in mining supply chains – especially in critical minerals vital in industries from electric vehicles to military hardware — has lead the US, the EU and their allies to try to bolster their own output.

That poses a risk to the growth of Chinese companies led by Zijin, which has bought copper and gold mines from Canada to Africa, and expanded into lithium in a bid to become a key player in the battery material.

The company — one of China’s most acquisitive metals groups and its biggest listed miner — has made similar comments before.

Chairman Chen Jinghe said in March that it “will be targeted for sure” by US-led efforts to tackle Beijing’s dominance of some minerals given its leading role in the industry.

Zijin has already slowed acquisitions due to higher project valuations and geopolitical tensions.

Beautiful announcement. Management ponying up some cash putting money where mouth is. 1.4mill keeps the lights on and dispute alive. Well done Nigel. Hold on Hodl on and what not. “Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth”

Thank god for funding, I was afraid this purgatory might end.

Who would I talk to then? My wife?

Day 841 since going into suspension.

Doesn't seem like all that much in the scheme of things. Keeps the lights on for 6-12 months.

If Locke doesn't come through then what? I can't see another round of convertible notes raising any more.

What on earth could be holding the Locke deal up?
You're hard to please... very happy with this news... don't have to raise a fortune upfront...

Ato is charging neat part of 12%, can't argue with the rate, happy enough with the discount...

Well done

Interesting to hear whether further details are released as to the US intentions for their investments. Seems to me their Lobito corridor plans include a serious interest in Manono.

It's an opportunity for the US plus makes strategic sense to blunt China's ability to control global lithium market.

Who knows but something is brewing on the diplomatic front. And with a development like this our US ambassador KRudd should be pressed into action. It's in Australia's interest also to thwart Chinese control of Manono. Or should be.

As I mentioned earlier, there is no Locke funding deal required. I believe it was just a "kick the can down the road" exercise to appease shareholders or a last resort in the event that the DRC handed over the mining license and made things right.
It's quite clear in this announcement that the first port of call is to follow through with ICC/ICSID and force the DRC to settle as they are not wanting AVZ to mine. AVZ is not going mining in the next 500 years in the DRC. It's also quite clear that Zijin will take over mining duties.
Going by the language of the announcement the attempt is to get a percentage of the last traded share price.
The small funding provision is also indication that AVZ requires the cash to just get some ink to paper and cover costs.
The lack of intervention by Felix also indicates that Cominiere is calling the shots.

IMHO - AVZ will get a payout, distribute to shareholders, Nigel & Co with a golden handshake and GTFO of the DRC once and for all.

Disclaimer* - it's just my opinion and I could be totally wrong, don't hate me.

Sorry, don’t have access to the full article.

I guess it just says that they intend to steal less lithium until the market picks up.

"Going by the language of the announcement the attempt is to get a percentage of the last traded share price."

Just curious as to what language in the announcement you think displays this as a desired outcome?

"whilst ensuring any such settlement or value realisation opportunity is in the best interest of all shareholders."

I think this would mean highest traded price at a minimum.

Sounds like a possible plan, but I can't get behind this part. Everyone knows that if this whole debacle never happened we'd be mining and the share price would be well above the ATH. Settling now for a fraction of the last traded value won't fly. Shareholders would be out for blood.
It'll be interesting to see where this lands.

“Shareholders would be out for blood” I’m sorry but this seems Naive, AVZ will be doing incredibly well to get anything back if the last 3 years are anything to go by, I’d be happy with anything near or above my purchase price and at a guess (as I can’t speak for anyone) I think most would to be rid of this! Consumed to much of my life! Although I don’t post here I do read everything both here and X and I try to not let it bother me but it honestly has! Sorry for rant, all the best ❤️

DRC aren't expected to buy their own asset. If Zijin want it and the ICSID say AVZ own it then Zijin will have to pay for it. All fines against DRC will be absorbed into a settlement. IMHO
