Recently appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transco, Lubanga Taylor returns to the Office of the Head of State as responsible for monitoring cooperation with the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The Democratic Republic of the Congo on Tuesday made another formal referral to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to ensure the court will focus on the alleged systematic pillaging of its natural resources in the country’s east by the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and the M23 rebel group.
“The government of the DRC remains deeply concerned about the suffering of the populations in the part of its territory affected by the acts referred to in this case,” the Congolese Justice Ministry said in a statement.
The referral’s goal would be to investigate and prosecute any person involved in human rights violations between 2022 and 2023, it added.
The Tutsi-led M23 rebel group launched a new offensive in eastern DRC in March 2022, seizing towns and villages in the area that borders Uganda. The fighting forced more than one million people to flee.
Kinshasa has accused neighbouring Rwanda of backing the M23 but Kigali continues to deny any involvement.
In 2022, a United Nations experts’ report found “direct intervention” by Rwandan forces inside DR Congo. The European Union has also urged Rwanda to “stop supporting the M23″ and urged Kinshasa to “take all measures necessary to protect the civilian population in its territory”.
There is already a continuing ICC investigation into eastern DRC – since 2004 – and it is unclear if the new referral would shift the court’s focus.
To date, the ICC has convicted three different Congolese militia leaders – one of war crimes and the others of war crimes and crimes against humanity – for their roles in atrocities committed in the eastern DRC.

The Donation of US$I million for Kalehe, where 450 people died and 5,000 people are missing from a country, the size of China, which on record has substantially benefitted from the DRC, short payed taxes and contracts and is involved in a multitude of shenanigans, at a rate lower than the going brown paper bag rate, must have come like a slap in the face for the DRC population and Felix himself.
I didn't read anywhere that China will back pay what they robbed.
So far Felix got from Xi was Peking Duck, 21 canon shots, a walk past a row of pretty Chinese go-go girls and a memorandum of understanding that in future negotiations will not be DRC with companies, but DRC with China.
In other words you get even fukked over harder.
Looking also at the US$1 million dollar donation, that is a fucking great result for a 5 days jolly.
I hope for Felix that Xi paid 50% of his fuel bill, otherwise Felix will be out of pocket for this exercise.

Even a Dyson without a diamond would be better than a trip to Beijing free Peking Duck and a compulsory visit to the CCP museum.

I'll tell you are few stories some time over a few beers about my time in China during the 1990s.
The compulsory medical examination by a (female) CCP doctor in a small regional city as part of the approval process to marry a local (which didn't end up happening. I think I was the first foreigner she'd examined.
The party officials sitting in the hallway on every floor of the nicer hotels where foreigners stayed monitoring who comes and goes, and checking ID papers of any locals in the hotel (made it tricky to smuggle my Chinese girlfriend into my room at the time, but where there's a will there's a way)

O and let’s have our two national TV stations do a co-operational agreement to pump out propaganda to the benefit of our two countries. Yep, CCP are supremo at that. Really , a trip to China and that was one thing on FT agenda. Who knows to what extend that co-operation goes, but why? It’s a communist country and DRC democratic ( just ) you don’t do that. The footage of FT walking with Xi in the red square and how staged the girl students were madly waving their little flags makes my blood boil. Xi has put China back 10 years with his Communist values and State authority.

Visiting China since Wednesday, May 24, Congolese Head of State Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Friday, May 26 at the Grand Palace of the People.
During this meeting marked by the solemnity including a parade of honor and the impact of 21 gunshots, the DRC and China signed 4 memorandums of understanding that are spread in various fields.
This is the memorandum of understanding on the investment and ecological exploitation of natural resources, the memorandum on exchange and cooperation in information but also on cooperation in the development of the digital economy.
To this is also added the memorandum of understanding on the promotion of the development of green growth and a Cooperation Agreement between the two national television channels, the CGTN of China and the RTNC of the DRC.
Head of State Félix Tshisekedi and his counterpart exchanged to strengthen their partnership, to create more opportunities for two countries.
