It clearly says for Chengtun Mining not AVZ . They mine copper in the DRC .

Possibly the translation of the wording is confusing. It may be possible these contractors have been agreed to by AVZ and the DRC and is an indication that things are moving ahead

Chengtun completed the acquisition of an ASX listed mining company operating in the DRC back in 2020. No problem for them getting FIRB approval for that purchase. Their current market cap is around 5b AUD so it would seem they don't have the means to buy out AVZ but stranger things have happened.

Maybe Nigel does have a surprise take over offer up his sleeve for the roadshow. Or perhaps the journalist that wrote that article is an idiot that doesn't understand basic concepts of ownership like those that work at the AFR. Either way we will find out soon.

Chengtun are associated with this new Chinese battery startup company:

It seems like they are all coming out of the woodwork, but from memory the company has to issue contracts (EPC etc) as a precursor to attaining FID.

And as much as the Chinese are sus, they are already established in the DRC and have the ability to build large projects quickly.

AVZ would have to maintain confidentiality until contracts are signed but hopefully these are all good signs.

Trying not to be sus on all the new info coming out
