I imagine it takes people of exceptional character to refuse brown paper bags and place the good of the DRC and the interests of the broader community ahead of their own financial gain
So many don't there......and the same applies here on all sorts of levels both large and small
South Kivu: The fifteen Chinese arrested for illegal exploitation of untraceable minerals!
The 15 Chinese subjects arrested in the territory of Mwenga, in South Kivu, for their involvement in the illegal exploitation of minerals in Walungu, were clandestinely extracted from their place of incarceration.
A situation that outrages the framework for consultation of civil society and the order of agronomists of the province.
They made this known in a statement made public on December 26, 2024.
“Some held migration documents, while others had been illegal residents on the national territory for almost a decade.
Many Chinese exploit mineral resources without exploitation permits, having only exploration permits,” denounces this structure, before asking: “are illegal Chinese nationals present on Congolese soil expelled to China, passing through the borders of Rwanda?”.
Faced with the misdeeds of these Chinese operators and their Congolese accomplices, civil society calls on the authorities to make firm decisions.
“We ask the authorities in Kinshasa to avoid any influence peddling in defiance of the provisions of the mining code and regulations in force in the DRC.
It is crucial to strengthen socio-political and economic cohesion at a time when the nation is facing several challenges.
It is also necessary to remove the military and other unauthorized security forces from the mining areas,” demands this organization.
The Government of the South Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo had, during a ceremony organized on Friday, December 20, in Bukavu, the provincial capital, presented to the press 17 Chinese and their Congolese and Burundian accomplices arrested on Thursday, December 19 by the security service.
