Suspect your'e right CD - EOFY tax loss write-off - immediate depreciation against their winners.
Could well find some sellers amongst the instos/super funds.
Also, going this way around they're not compelled to make a formal offer required to go through the BoD.

On the .AX vs .AU point, they're just different system terminologies of market identifiers. i.e. Iress identifier is AVZ.AX whereas Bloomberg is AVZ_AU. Just depends on what systems they're using.

Why would they want to buy your shares ?

Why was RIO in the DRC ?

Newly formed DRC govt displaying some war drums regards to corruption ?

Interesting the Bloomberg system is the one being used in this scam. That troll john weed who was teaming up with shane (der geist) eastwood before he was moderated was always trying to get shareholders to contact Bloomberg. Think you will find dudbrook also had links to Bloomberg.

Doesn't mean Bloomberg is involved, just that the super funds that are sending the messages out are potentially using Bloomberg within their back office for their instrument identifiers.
They would have received the offer documents and made the offer available for their wholesale clients (they would likely be in trouble if the offer went to any retail clients).
