BRN Discussion Ongoing

Bravo

If ARM was an arm, BRN would be its biceps💪!
How cool is this? Here's an interview with Professor Steve Furber who is involved in the Human Brain Project and has worked within the focus area of neuromorphic computing on SpiNNaker.

This podcast was published 2 days ago.

At 8.30 mins Prof. Furber says something like this:

"There's been this huge transformation of the world of artificial intelligence with neural networks coming to the fore. And now there's a strong sense that neuromophics is positioned to merge with mainstream AI and provide potential solutions to the huge energy requirements of the standard AI solutions. So that in the future we're probably going to see far more neuromorphics in engineering applications, particularly where energy efficiency is a major criteria in the choice of architecture and design".

From NVISO's Website, I wonder if the capacitive technology could be used for breath sensing as well?

INTELLIGENT COCKPIT

Next generation mobility requires AI, from self-driving cars to new ways to engage customers. Build and deploy robust AI-powered interior monitoring systems. The NVISO Human Behaviour SDK includes building blocks and tools that accelerate in-cabin monitoring developments that require the increased perception and interaction features enabled by AI including gaze and eye state tracking, body tracking, and activity and gesture recognition.

DRIVER MONITORING SYSTEMS

A key feature expected to become a standard feature in new cars as a result of regulatory and rating agency requirements Euro NCAP 2025 Roadmap. Advanced driver monitoring systems (DMS) can detect distracted and drowsy drivers by accurately measuring eye and head position, attention, and fatigue. The DMS alerts the driver and integrated safety systems upon detection of a risk such as drowsiness or distraction. This feedback enables the driver and vehicle to take action before safety is compromised.

OCCUPANT MONITORING SYSTEMS

It is not only the driver who is the focus of attention. The camera is positioned in such a way that all seats are in its field of vision. The system can detect the presence of any other occupant, front passengers, and can thus deactivate the airbag if, for instance, a child safety seat is present. IMS uses machine learning to enable in-vehicle systems to sense their occupants’ emotional states and gestures to provide personalized experiences in the transition to automated driving.

Hi @Damo4,

My first thoughts re the breathing monitor was Socionext 60ghz radar which does exactly that.

Of course that won’t preclude our use for driver monitoring as I don’t doubt we’re in that as well!

Cheers

Prof. Furber must be aware of our technology because he and Anil were both speakers at the tinyML Neuromorphic Engineering Forum in September 2022.

Ahhh yes I might have my in-cabin monitors mixed up!
This is the reason you're the Genius hahah
I'm thrilled either way, we definitely have strong connections to both of these bad boys

Just for the record: when I was creating my moniker for HC back then a certain US president called himself that which I thought was hilarious; hence the name.

It’s a tad embarrassing now people have either forgotten or never heard his quote as it can sound Narcissistic if you don’t know me!

You forgot to mention that Steve Furber independently discovered the winner-takes-all principle which is the basis of Simon Thorpe's Spikenet (now owned by Brainchip) N-of-M coding which Simon had sought to keep secret.

This is a great article about Akida and TATA:

Akida’s fully customizable, scalable, event-based AI neural processor architecture and its small footprint boosts the efficiency of various applications by orders of magnitude. Greater AI performance at the edge, independent from the cloud, unlocks the growth of the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) market that is expected to be more than a trillion dollars by 2030.

Big news today: Our showcar – which has its world premiere in just two days time – is named 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐂𝐋𝐀 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 and impresses already 🚀 It is the first car to be designed on the all-new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform. The #ConceptCLAClass demonstrates our vision to elevate the segment through design, long-range efficiency, sustainable materials and an entirely new operating system, MB.OS. Stay tuned for the world premiere on September 3!

As a world leader in the ADAS domain, Valeo offers the widest portfolio of perception technologies in the industry and all the technologies to meet the challenges of the software defined vehicle. For example, Valeo develops a full stack of AI-based software for signal processing, computer vision, data fusion, and vehicle control. This software stack will be hosted in a central domain controller, complemented by zone controllers, all also offered by Valeo. In collaboration with BMW and Deutsche Telekom, Valeo will present atele-operation demonstration on its booth, with the opportunity to tele-operate a car remotely for parking manoeuvers. This shows the potential for new kinds of services like tele-operated Valet parking services.

Bring on Akida Smart Speaker 🙂 just saying...
"hey Akida" are you hearin me? 😂
Funny great idea! It's morning here and already my imagination is running away with me. I think of an easter egg and code word.
And then once people around the world will talk to their devices, psst - Akida - are you in there can you hear me?

yes, explosive sales was expected from the mouth of our founder PVDM
yes, share price has come down substantially from ath $2.34 to this miniature of $0.315 as today
yes, watch the financial was spelled out by our CEO not long ago, sorry, a bit over a year ago
yes, our chairman did day the share market does what the share market does, words to this effect
yes, GEN2 was expected by end of Aug 23
....... the list could go on if you want to dig back years ago and i am sure the typo and table cloth incidents must be included as well.

I, speaking for myself, am not trying to present any different opinions doubting the above.

HOWEVER, THE CORE QUESTIONS THAT I ASK MYSELF A LOT, WHICH KEEPS ME FROM SELLING MY SHARES,
1: WHO IS THE BIGGEST LOSER IF THIS CO GOES TO THE WASTE TIP?
2: WHO IS THE MOST INFORMED SHAREHOLDER OF THIS CO?
3: AM I SEEING THE ABOVE MENTIONED PERSON OR PERSONS DUMPING HIS/HER (OR THEIR) SHARES?

My questions obviously need no wisdom to be answered unless you sincerely believe this guy are all in for the $400K annual compensation and he is gaining enormously from donating his worthless shares for good reasons.

Mondy rant from a shareholder just like anyone else, no financial advice, not qualified.

Today, the main topic seems to be Mercedes.
And MB takes the issue very seriously. Of course, a job advertisement says nothing about whether we will be in the next or upcoming roll out. And a single job description says nothing about the actual size and the real engagement of their development team and how far they are in our sense. But there are many signs what MB is concerned about, e.g. this one:

"Development engineer in the field of artificial intelligence with focus on neuromorphic computing and ADAS
...
As a member of the AI Research team, you will be researching current trends in artificial intelligence such as GenAI, quantum AI or neuromorphic computing. We are intensively engaged in investigating new methods of artificial intelligence and developing them further in order to make them usable for our company, together with our colleagues from the specialist departments. We strive to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence and create customised innovative solutions for our customers. With us on the team, you can actively shape the future of technology.

These are the challenges you will face:

Applied research in the field of neuromorphic computing and spiking neural networks Development of innovative algorithms for automotive applications Implementation of neuromorphic algorithms for automotive applications Research and transfer of current neuromorphic computing trends for automotive applications with a special focus on ADAS Conceptual implementation of ideas and construction of demonstrators Close cooperation with colleagues from the project and the specialist departments Participation in the development of new ideas and in the development of the strategic direction of the project Close cooperation with universities, research institutions, technology companies and start-ups Supervision of internships, theses and dissertations
