Bravo

If ARM was an arm, BRN would be its biceps💪!
Give it till end of next year.. If by then they can't get any new IP's or royaltys of note then I'd throw the toys out of the cot..

What I would like to see is the addressable market of the Arm Cortex M85 processor.. Maybe add the value of that market, the penetration likely to be achieved, the timeline and guidance associated with that integration.

"In March 2023 we announced we validated that the Akida™ processor family integrates with the Arm® Cortex®-M85 processor, unlocking new levels of performance and efficiency for next-generation intelligent edge devices."

This Statistica graph shows Arm's royalty unit shipments (not to be confused with total revenue or royalty revenue) at 8 billion for September 2022 quarter. I'm trying to find out what percentage of this could be attributed to Cortex M85 shipments but have been unable to find anything as yet.

Will keep looking...

I’ve always pondered a theory where ARM initially wanted exclusive rights to Akida, and BrainChip declined. BrainChip then got cozy with SiFive, and that tipped the balance for ARM to deal with BrainChip non-exclusively.

I expect both ARM and SiFive to license IP in the 4th Quarter, if not sooner!

Hi Beebo,

The BrainChip/SiFive agreement is couched in terms of a partnership so we may not see a licence agreement with SiFive. If it is a joint development (JD) or partnership, we would expect a share of sales income instead of licence fees and royalties, the expectation being that our share of sales income would be greater than licence fees plus royalties in the long term, but without the sugar-hit at the start.

Both companies are early stage, although SiFive is more advanced commercially.

BrainChip and SiFive Partner to Deploy AI/ML Technology at the Edge

Laguna Hills, Calif. – April 5, 2022 BrainChip Holdings Ltd (ASX: BRN, OTCQX: BRCHF, ADR: BCHPY), the world’s first commercial producer of ultra-low power neuromorphic AI chips and IP, and SiFive, Inc., the founder and leader of RISC-V computing, have combined their respective technologies to offer chip designers optimized AI/ML compute at the edge.
...
“We are pleased to partner with SiFive and have the opportunity to have our Akida technology integrated with their market-leading product offerings, creating an efficient combination for edge compute,” said Jerome Nadel, BrainChip CMO. “As we expand our ecosystem of portfolio partners, we want to be sure that these relationships are built on complementary technologies, enabling capabilities, and breadth of environments so that we can expand opportunities to as many potential customers as possible. Driving our technology into a SiFive-based subsystem is exactly the type of partnership that meets these goals
.”

As far as ARM is concerned, being part of the ARM ecosystem would probably result in licences with ARM customers who chose to add Akida.

However, if ARM does produce chips with Akida, we could expect a licence unless the product is involved in a partnership or joint development.

Regular
After a few beer,

The day seem a bit better. 😊

But here is a thought. Or conversation.

Why this quarterly so low in cash receipts. And where are the engineering fee?

It's obvious that's Brianchip hasn't signed any new customer since MegaChips directly.

But Brainchip had partnered with.......
We all know who they are. For the one who don't.(Refer to Brainchip.com.😊🍺😎)

So in a partnership, for example;

Brainchip works with company A.
Brainchip will provide the technology, the engineering assistance and co development with Company A. Company A provide the development funding, product marketing and sales. Company A sell the product. Brainchip will receive % of the sales of products.

So in essence, Brainchip is providing the technology with engineering expertise and co development the product with Company A.

Hence, Brainchip ARE NOT receiving engineering fee from Company A. Why? Because it's a Partnership. Both company working together to develop a certain product. When completion of the product and are in the hands of customers = REVENUE & ROYALTIES.

So if this theory is on point, Revenue and Royalties will arrive from all directions.

Learning 🏖
(Just my intoxicated opinion. DYOR.)
My view on the Engineering Fees, is that BRN aren't charging the full costs to those selected Co's, just so as to get their foot in the door and keep the door and communications open indefinitely.

Yes there is merit in what you are saying due to synsense and bmw comments via synsense website news in 15 April 2022. Refer link below

Then there is this from TSE forum in 27 Feb 22 with a potential dot join between BRN and BMW

I recall banter between posters on TSE linked to the above but doubt anyone will try to post links (dot joining) to convince you BRN tech is definitely in BMW upcoming EV range.

Maybe BMW have changed camps in the last 12months with exploring AI tech for their vehicles with BRN. From a quick google there doesn’t appear to be any announcement by BRN they are exploring uses of AI tech with BMW as that noted by synsense in the article above on 15 April 2022
Maybe BRN / Bmw have this under a NDA unlike synsense. Who knows but doesn’t it take a few years to develop tech into products before rolling out to customers

BRN can’t be eveywhere but BRN TSE believers like us wish it will be in BMW and many other car manufactures. Fingers crossed BRN is everywhere for us shareholders.

CN113255905A Signal processing method for neurons in spiking neural network and network training method

1682743213077.png

The invention discloses a signal processing method for neurons in a spiking neural network and a network training method. Different from a single-pulse mechanism which is commonly used at present, the multi-pulse mechanism is designed. The neuron signal processing method comprises the following steps: a receiving step: at least one neuron receives at least one path of input pulse sequence; an accumulation step: performing weighted summation based on the at least one path of input pulse sequence to obtain a membrane voltage; and an activation step: when the membrane voltage exceeds a threshold value, determining the amplitude of the pulse excited by the neuron based on the ratio of the membrane voltage to the threshold value. In order to solve the problems of time consumption and low efficiency of a training algorithm caused by an increasing configuration parameter scale, efficient training of the spiking neural network is realized through technical means such as a multi-pulse mechanism, a periodic exponential function proxy gradient and addition of a neuron active inhibition degree as loss, and low power consumption of simulated hardware can still be maintained; and the technical effects of improving the precision and the convergence speed and the like are also brought.

Analog may be somewhat more efficient than digital SNN as they are more directly analogous to wetware, but they are problematic from the accuracy point of view, and probably not as easy to adapt for ML, because they have to add lots of voltage spikes, and the spike amplitude can vary. This also limits the "bit"-count because it needs large voltage ceilings for lots of spikes which has to be able to accommodate the number/amplitude of spikes. And they need an Analog-to-digital converter.

Holding onto what I've got
Just a wild thought, we know Brainchip annouced they've join into Intel Foundry services. Would this trigger intel foundry or better yet the parent 'Intel' needing to sign a NDA so as not so siphon off akida tech into theirs (as they may be privy to some secret sauce), at that point you may as well go the full testing phase and then use it?

Well actually, Synsense have two neuromorphic chips; "Speck" is a vision processor and "Xylo" is an audio processor.

Unless I'm wrong, previous articles have only ever referred to BMW using Speck for vision processing functions.

I believe the "Xylo" chip is NOT mentioned anywhere in relation to BMW.

This might have something to do with the AKIDA technology from BrainChip which made the “Hey, Mercedes” voice control system in the Mercedes EQXX five to ten times more efficient than conventional voice control.

It's highly likely IMO that BMW are not intending on using "Xylo" because it doesn't pack as much grunt as AKIDA has proven it's capable of delivering.

Hi Bravo,

The attraction of SPECK may be that it comes with built-in DVS camera, but it has a small brain, something they could no doubt remedy in Son-of-SPECK. Or maybe that's the right number of neurons for the job. Akida is over-engineered so it can deal with all eventualities.

Senior Scientist, Neuromorphic Computing and Spiking Neural Network, TCS Research

Emergence of small satellites for earth observation missions has opened up new horizons for space research but at the same time posed newer challenges of limited power and compute resource arising out of the size & weight constraints imposed by these satellites. In our paper, titled "Low Power & Low Latency Cloud Cover Detection in Small Satellites Using On-board Neuromorphic Processors", accepted at #IJCNN 2023, a premier AI conference, we have shown how a multistage CNN trained on multispectral Earth observation images for Cloud Cover Detection, can be converted into an SNN using the CNN2SNN conversion toolkit of Brainchip. Further, the converted SNN running on AKIDA neuromorphic platform can achieve 95.46% accuracy while power consumption and latency are found to be upto 230x & 7x more efficient than the CNN running on a Jetson TX2.

Thanks to all the co-authors Chetan Kadway Arijit Mukherjee Dr. Arpan Pal and a special thanks to Gilles Bézard and BrainChip without whose active support this work would not have been successful. Tata Consultancy Services - Research #SNN #NeuromorphicComputing

“ A neuromorphic chip inspired by the human mind? It seems like a concept from a sci-fi novel, yet it's the perfect core for our cutting-edge space robot!

In 2025, we plan to launch our repair robot to orbit. Akin to the skilled droids from Star Wars, it will be repairing a spacecraft. Our robot needs an AI-driven brain that surpasses the limitations of current technology to perform complex repair tasks in the unforgiving vacuum of space.

We needed something exceptional.

We teamed up with BrainChip , the pioneers behind the neuromorphic Akida AI chip. This cutting-edge chip enables our robots to perceive and interact with their surroundings in space, learning in the process.

Our robot's brain, powered by this groundbreaking technology, is set to launch into orbit in January 2024 aboard the Space Machines Company spacecraft. Once there, we will refine our robot's vision system, training with a video feed directly from the satellite's cameras.

Working with the Brainchip team on this mission was a great pleasure! They supported us along the way, providing their chips and engineering advice.

In the coming weeks, we'll tell you more about the chip's capabilities and what we had to do to space-qualify our system.

Stay in touch.

16. 2023 – TATA CONSULTING SERVICES CONTINUE THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH BRAINCHIP AND RECEIVE CONGRATULATIONS ON THEIR SUCCESSFUL WORK BY ANIL MANKAR VIA SOCIAL MEDIA -

Sounak Dey

18. BRAINCHIP’S AKIDA TECHNOLOGY MAKES AUTONOMOUS SATELLITE REPAIR ROBOTS POSSIBLE AND Gilles BEZARD FROM BRAINCHIP’S FRENCH OFFICE SHARED ANT61s SOCIAL MEDIA POST:

I have to confess that im coming at an age where i write myself notes but i have a bit of a diary addiction where i have more then one diary for the same year be it like a daily diary or a weekly diary and then there is my phone diary. But then in my phone disry i write advance notes to remind me on the day why i wrote it such as this one below!

At the time it appears 25 April i read something so interesting that it provoked me to jot in my phone diary with not one but two exclamations and i don't even own Tesla shares. Now why did i do this!? Time will tell if my suspicions are founded and in which note pad im referrimg to !

lol I vaguely remember thinking it was worthy of me diarising this event. 😁 And yes i wrote it as i believe it relates to brainchip down the track. my opinion and im sticking to what ever my thoughts were on 25th april! 🤣
