Stellantis has chosen Valeo's third-generation LiDAR to equip multiple models of its different automotive brands from 2024. The Valeo SCALA 3 LiDAR will enable these vehicles to be certified for level 3 automation, allowing drivers to safely take their hands off the steering wheel and their eyes off the road.

Level 3 vehicle automation can only be achieved with LiDAR technology. Without it, some objects cannot be detected. Yet at this level of autonomy, the system’s perception capabilities must be extremely precise. Our third-generation Valeo SCALA LiDAR offers a resolution nearly 50 times that of the second-generation device. The technology comes with unique data collection features, allowing Stellantis to pave the way for new vehicle experiences.”

50 times resolution means 50 times processing, unless ...

So I think it's a given that Stellantis will be using a SNN LiDaR processor in 2024.

Surely, despite the fact that Scala 2 is said to provide Level 3 ADAS, Mercedes will not be selling cars with inferior LiDaRs in the second half of 2023?

Over one year into commercialisation so hopefully an explosion of sales, explosion of revenue situation is coming.

Well I think that the SP price has taken a a bit of steam out of many. Caused short fuses and some stress.

That said the walk to fame is not an easy route and it weeds the weak.

Based on a temporary project manager for only 3-4 months to assist with 2.0 launch I’m thinking Akida 2.0 may be announced by BRN CEO just prior to the up coming AGM in May 23.
More speculation but timeframe lines up and in part lines up with Sean’s speech at the last AGM. My recall only. Lol

I have been really excited by the Valeo partnership since the JV news was released back in 2020. As I have waited to see it unfold I have formed the opinion that Valeo are extremely good at keeping their cards close to their chest. I am unsure if any specifics of product containing AKIDA will ever be publicly disclosed however I believe it will become very obvious in the not to distant future as to where Valeo is using our technology.

Here is a short promotional video from Valeo posted a few days ago. While there is nothing groundbreaking in it it does lift the veil a little on one of their R&D centers. The E-thermal products mentioned are interesting and not something I had really thought about previously. Just another potential application in my view be it for monitoring battery, in cabin or both. There is so much to like with this partnership, could become a revenue monster IMO.
