BRN Discussion Ongoing

Bravo

If ARM was an arm, BRN would be its biceps💪!
Personal opinion only. This is a BRN project and will form part of the applications library that is constantly being built out by Brainchip.

I can just see @uiux and @butcheroo at a Westfield offering free breast screening with their home made AKIDA powered microscopes. Taking blood from finger pricks and running the slides past AKIDA.

This is all very well talking about who has how many shares. More important to me are the collecter edition shares that have been so popular recently. Here we are talking about the special quality shares. I have a few myself including a very rare matched pair (in the wine fridge with the Grange.) The value of these I'm sure will be huge in the future.

Top 5 MCU suppliers accounted for 82% of 2021 sales

New ranking from IC Insights shows some revenue gaps expanding between the largest microcontroller manufacturers.

Single-chip microcontrollers for embedded control and computing functions are ubiquitous and continue to be designed into more systems. Much of the new growth in MCUs is driven by embedded automation and the spread of sensors. The pervasiveness of MCUs was a key factor in suppliers being unable to keep up with the strong 2021 rebound from the 2020 global recession caused by the start of the Covid-19 virus pandemic.
After falling 7% in 2019 because of a weak global economy and then dropping 2% in 2020 due to the Covid-virus crisis, MCU sales rebounded with a 27% increase in 2021 to a record-high USD 20.2 billion. The 2021 surge was the highest percentage growth in MCUs since 2000. The average selling price (ASP) for MCUs climbed 12% in 2021—the highest annual increase since the mid-1990s. Production-constrained MCU shipments grew just 13% in 2021 to 31.2 billion units.
In the strong MCU recovery last year, the sales rankings of the five largest microcontroller suppliers remained unchanged from 2020, according to IC Insights’ new second-quarter update. The 2Q Update shows three of the 2021 top five MCU suppliers headquartered in Europe (NXP, STMicroelectronics, and Infineon), one in the U.S. (Microchip), and one in Japan (Renesas).
2021 RankCompanyHeadquarters2020202121/20 change (%)2021 marketshare
1NXPEurope2,9803,79527%18.8%
2MicrochipUSA2,8723,58425%17.8%
3RenesasJapan2,7483,42024%17.0%
4STEurope2,5063,37435%16.7%
5InfineonEurope1,9532,37822%11.8%
Leading MCU suppliers (USD million)
The five largest microcontroller suppliers develop and sell ARM-based MCUs. These companies accounted for 82.1% of worldwide MCU sales in 2021 compared to 72.2% in 2016—meaning the big keep getting bigger in microcontrollers. The increase of the biggest MCU suppliers has resulted from major acquisitions and mergers since 2016. The five biggest MCU suppliers are significantly larger than the rest of the top 10 in microcontrollers, according to the update report. For instance, the second half of the top 10 (Texas Instruments, Nuvoton, Rohm, Samsung, and Toshiba) accounted for USD 2.3 billion in MCU sales last year, or 11.4% of the market total. Outside the top 10, MCU suppliers had just 6.5% marketshare in 2021.
In 2021, top-ranked NXP in the Netherlands slightly widened its MCU revenue lead over second-place Microchip by USD 103 million. Microchip increased its sales lead over third-ranked Renesas by about USD 40 million last year, according to new estimates in IC Insights’ 2Q Update report.
Fourth-place STMicroelectronics saw the strongest sales increase in the MCU ranking with revenues rising 35% in 2021, which nearly lifted the company past Renesas—putting it just USD 46 million behind its Japanese rival. Renesas had been the largest MCU supplier through the first half of the last decade but was passed in 2016 after NXP acquired U.S.-based Freescale at the end of 2015. Renesas’ marketshare in MCU sales stood at 17.0% in 2021 compared to 33.1% in 2011.
Germany’s Infineon remained in fifth place in the 2021 microcontroller ranking with sales that increased 22% to USD 2.4 billion—about USD 996 million less than ST in MCUs last year. Infineon moved into the top five MCU ranking after acquiring U.S.-based Cypress Semiconductor in April 2020 for USD 9.3 billion to expand further in automotive microcontrollers, power management, and other embedded systems applications.
And yet some still do not understand the significance.

AKIDA is an insane advance over all existing Ai solutions at or near the Endpoint.

Making MCU’s SMART the way only AKIDA technology can do is a technological Revolution.

Renesas has beaten the rest of the world to the punch and when it is ready it will let slip the dogs of war upon the world and cause chaos amongst its competitors.

To become ubiquitous at the Edge it is not possible to do so without being the default standard in the MCU market. The MCU market is integral to the semiconductor technology industry.

Renesas were number one in this space and are looking to take it back.

I suspect they know much better than an anonymous poster on social media such as myself how to introduce revolutionary new SMART MCU technology to their existing global customer base and then to the general global market.

I have mentioned since early 2021 that Renesas then sat as the number 3 supplier of semiconductors to the global automotive industry in a list where Bosch ranked at number 6.

Just as Brainchip worked with Valeo and other customers during the development of AKD1000 I am confident in saying that Renesas would also work with its extensive global customer base to ensure the SMART MCU (unlike anything they have seen before) is designed to meet their customer needs and to have orders in place at the time of release.

My opinion only so ignore if you disagree and DYOR

Wow! Sorry if posted previously but some of the work that Prophesee is doing is really impressive including using its sensor in a medical trial for the partial recovery of visual function in a blind patient. This is a "must see" (no pun intended) video IMO! 😁👀

Awesome Bravo. You really do come up with excellent material.

We now know who the ”Undisclosed” partner in the slides is! 😉

Cheers

I'm quietly looking forward to the close out of this financial year...4 trading days left.

Friday 1 July next week is the beginning of the next most exciting 2 quarters in Brainchips history, I am expecting revenue to finally
start to reveal itself, if nothing of real substance arrives by 31 January 2023, well, I for one will be extremely disappointed.

I think we all feel the same way, maybe to varying degrees, BUT revenue and a product/s must be getting awfully close to revealing
themselves....am I dreaming ??...I don't think so.

Thanks to all the great researchers/posters on this site, I personally appreciate all the time that you all put in, so thanks.

Excuse me for being impatient, but.. when lambo?
Probably in 5 years minimum with the shares I got, unless anyone would like to donate some to me. But if my risk on buying buttcoin works out it might be 4 years and 364 days if I’m lucky

It was a rhetorical question but thank you for humoring me haha.

I'd never buy a lambo but do have my eye on an Omega Speedmaster and a Tesla if all things go to plan!

Hear, hear @TECH . The work today by the crew has IMHO been outstanding. Of course, it always is. I'm going to mention a few... well done @Esq.111 @Stable Genius @Bravo (and her humour), @HopalongPetrovski . I s'pose the virus inflicted silk needs a mention and another of Dodgy's lemon drinks to perk him up too.
Cheers.
