Maybe it's because it's just the development kit and the actual chip, is much much better?..

The SynSense Speck is certainly an impressive achievement, but I'm not sure its "Obstacle detection" is the same as the Prophesee/Bosch detection of secondary objects which may intersect the trajectory of the vehicle.

Motion of a DVS camera causes all the pixels to register events because the whole image changes with the camera motion, which would somewhat defeat the purpose of the DVS.

The Prophesee/Bosh invention uses the vehicle's speed data in box 3 to eliminate "events" caused by the vehicle's motion, so only the moving secondary events are processed. The secondary moving object's motion data is then processed in the SNN classifier module box 4.

A system (1) for detecting dynamic secondary objects (55) that have a potential to intersect the trajectory (51) of a moving primary object (50), comprising a vision sensor (2) with a light-sensitive area (20) that comprises event-based pixels (21), so that a relative change in the light intensity impinging onto an event-based pixel (21) of the vision sensor (2) by at least a predetermined percentage causes the vision sensor (2) to emit an event (21a) associated with this event-based pixel (21), wherein the system (1) further comprises a discriminator module (3) that gets both the stream of events (21a) from the vision sensor (2) and information (52) about the heading and/or speed of the motion of the primary object (50) as inputs, and is configured to identify, from said stream of events (21a), based at least in part on said information (52), events (21b) that are likely to be caused by the motion of a secondary object (55), rather than by the motion of the primary object (50).

SynSense (formerly aiCTX) claim to be the only company producing sensors integrated with sCNNs.

The Prophesee/SynSense partnership dates from late last year.

As such, I don't think the SynSense Spec incorporates the Prophesee/Bosch invention (yet). But, in the future ...

Whilst not directly related to BRN, reading the below I feel gives an insight as to our own modified course from chips primarily to IP model complemented with chips.

Don't doubt we will be quietly factored in there somewhere though.

Who else didn't realize that Continental in Germany works in tandem with Valeo with their Lidar systems acting as a spare for eachother?

PS: This article also points to the future direction were companies like Bosch provide the lidars for less complex settings such as fixed infrastructure, as opposed to on the vehicle itself IMO.

On April 29 th the US state of Oklahoma was given the green light by the Senate to operate self-driving cars on the open road, making it the 30 th state to legislate in favor of autonomous vehicles.

It will come into force on July 14th and, once published (no later than September 1st), the deployment of totally autonomous vehicles without a driver will be legal.
Within the same scope, the European Union approved a draft law with a view to certifying level 4 autonomous vehicles, which is scheduled for publication in the second half of 2022. This constitutes another milestone along the road toward self-driving, along the lines adopted by the French and German legislators, who in 2021 were the world's first to set up a legal framework for the use of autonomous vehicles in regular service.
All these regulations form part of a logical progression in the national strategies of a large number of countries that foresee the arrival of more and more self-driving vehicles, which are already considered unanimously as the next major advance in the mobility market.
The worldwide trend towards amending regulations to benefit autonomous mobility will facilitate its deployment on a large scale which will open the door to a multitude of opportunities to trade on the basis of a clear and standardized set of rules.
NAVYA is contributing actively to the current progress in international legislation through its membership of a number of working groups set up by the European Commission, the French Government and the US Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association.

I tend to agree. All he says is that Edge impulse have matched Brainchips akida to a Prophesee Camera. That does not directly link us with Prophesee in my eyes.

Once Edge Impulse combines Akida with a Prophesee camera and then they show the the world the obvious benefits of such a combination, then IMHO it's only a matter of time before Prophesee and Sony are added to Brainchip's customer/partner list.
Personally I believe that Prophesee and Sony are well aware of Brainchip already.

I posted a while ago in "the other place" about how if the ARM / NVIDIA aquisition failed (which it did), that QUALCOMM had expressed interest in taking a piece of ARM and it seems it's still on the cards...............and INTEL is also interested ................ amongst others

Those who want to play the "is this a competitor card" need to have a rethink how to frame this invalid argument or come up with an entirely new line of attack because it is now so 2019. It is the equivalent of appearing in public wearing bell bottom trousers and pretending to be a fashion icon.

The World has moved on into the next decade and AKIDA has raced even further ahead and the only question remaining is how much of the Edge market will Brainchip Inc capture with its world class team of sales and marketing professionals and technology business leaders and its fast emerging ecosystem partners.

My 1 percent argument still stands for someone to show as being incorrect. The challenge is there and is not going away. While I believe that 70 billion US dollars is an underestimate of what the market is for AKIDA technology overall I will adopt it, as it is the number Brainchip Inc itself likes to cite, and in doing so my estimates will place gross earnings at 21 billion US dollars to 42 billion US dollars by 2025.

In saying this I am not putting that the cash receipts in 2025 will be in the range of 21 billion US dollars to 42 billion US dollars but that the value of contractual engagements by that date will be of these levels.

WHY IS THIS THE ONLY ARGUMENT LEFT TO BE HAD?

Well I can't put my finger on it off the top of my head with my nose to the grindstone, an ear to the ground, and a finger in the wind, but I recall Mercedes did state that they were looking to simplify inventory by standardizing on components. So, while SynSense may have a different chip for all occasions, each using unique programming, if sufficient manufacturers realize the benefits of Mercedes' approach, and the ability of Akida to deal with new age systems and legacy systems in a capacity of your own choosing ...
