My goodness. I had heard how the debate in this place had evaporated. Then there's the eerie/smug digs at another platform.

Dropped into see if others had been called. I think this is a terrible waste of time and money. It is outsourced but needed to be discussed and outcomes discussed.

After 9 years I am voting for a spill.

CAVEAT for those with Schwab accounts who own BRCHF

As you may know Schwab has bought out TDAmeritrade. The last of the accounts were switched over this past weekend.
I discovered today (before pulling the trigger) that the Schwab fee to trade BRCHF was $50 US. The Ameritrade charge had been $6.95. I am having a discussion with them now.

Bad news.....no flexibility so Adios Señor Schwab

Any suggestions from fellow BRCHF holders to guide my move?

Addendum: One is able to trade for $6.95 BCHPY (equals 40 shares BRCHF) but the spreads need to be intelligently dealt with for best financial outcome.
You're not alone. I have always purchased my shares through Fidelity, and every time I buy shares in a single transaction, I have to pay a $50 foreign transaction fee. This led me to wait to save a few paychecks to spread the cost per share out over that fee, as it was akin to having a $5 ATM fee to withdraw $5 cash. This was frustrating because I couldn't catch the dips in the stock price to improve my dollar cost average.

For a brief period, this fee was waived, but that was back when BrainChip supposedly had DTC eligibility. Apparently, they were no longer eligible after a few months, and the $50 fee was reinstated. Fortunately, I managed to get a reasonable amount of shares during this period.
I had inquired about them trying to get DTC eligibility again, but it seems that it was not a priority for them to resolve.

An alternative is to buy the ADRs on the OTC Markets (if available through your broker), which don't have a fee to purchase. One ADR represents forty (40) shares of BRCHF. The only caveat is that you do not own the underlying shares, and have no voting rights for the shares as they are owned by the bank that issued them.

I wish you luck, and if you find a decent broker that can beat that $50 fee, please let me know!

Edit: I forgot to mention that if you want to look for the ADR on a different platform, it is under the OTC market symbol BCHPY.

@Diogenese
What are your thoughts on this.
I read the term MAC's, which I think you often say is not us, but the rest sounds so much like us.
Is it only the term SNN to be believed?
I get so confused with this stuff, apologies if a dumb question or asked before.
cheers

Why not just cut straight to the point and tell us that you want the share price to tank, so you can buy more shares?🥴

I have also been in for 9 years and I could not think of anything worse than "voting for a spill".

I mean IMO I would be kissing goodbye my 9 years of investing in a company that I totally believe in ..As frustrating as it has been, I think we really are so close to GREATNESS!!...... Why would anyone serious about their investment want to create financial ruin by this action!

None of us know what is happening behind closed doors? A deal or two could be in the last stages of getting finalised???

Could you imagine if there was a spill and CEO's of companies we could be dealing with then turn around and say hey the deal is off until we see some stabilisation back within BRN.........back we go !!!!!!

I know we all have our own reasons and thoughts for our own investment strategies but personally I will not let my total frustration with the company at the moment get in the way of the 'Big picture ahead' ....I am very bullish on what is ahead for our Akida... 'Second to none technology'

Couldn't agree more Buena Suerte, a spill is not in the interests of shareholders at this point in time and I would urge other shareholders to vote against it. There are many other ways to make your feelings known to the company than to take this potentially damaging route. If you have concerns the AGM is a chance to ask questions of the company and that would be by far a better way to approach the issue without any of the risks that a spill involves.

I've been doing a bit of research on what SoftBank is up to in regards to it's AI ambitions and have discovered that on 4 August 2023 SoftBank announced it had launched a new company to research and develop homegrown Large Language Models (LLM) specialized for the Japanese language. The company is called SB Intuitions and it will also develop, market and provide generative AI services.

Hironobu Tamba will lead the new business, SB Intuitions. He was a long time Softbank employee who has most recently been running the company’s AI and IoT division. Whilst he was at SoftBank, Hironobu was involved in the collaboration in 2017 between SoftBank and a company called Inuitive. Below is an excerpt from the collaboration announcement.

Screenshot 2024-05-16 at 10.42.17 am.png

Inuitive is an Israeli fabless semiconductor company that develops advanced vision processors for edge devices, notably the NU4100 vision-on-chip processor is the third generation of Inuitive's vision processors series and is ideal for robotics, drones, VR, and edge-AI applications that demand multiple sensor aggregation, processing, packing, and streaming. It is specifically designed for XR headsets, robots and other applications that sense and analyze the environment using six, eight or more cameras, as they make real-time actionable decisions based on that input.

Interestingly enough, around 7 months ago, our SBD in Israel, Mauro Daimant "reached out" to Dor Zepenuik and Yaron Rashi in relation to Brainchip's 2nd Gen Blog. Dor Zepenuik is Founder and CTO of Inuitive and Yaaron Rashi is System on Chip Architect/Engineer at Inuitve.

BTW, I don't have any idea how long SoftBank continued with its collaboration with Inuitive, maybe it's still ongoing today, but obviously Hironobu Tamba is aware of Inuitive, having worked with the company previously.

Hironobu Tamba, whilst he was at SoftBank wrote this Case Study on Vantiq, which is all about making the Port City of Takeshiba, Tokyo the smartest city in the world. As you can see, he is very interested in edge computing.

Make of all of this what you will, but for me, I think it's very clear that, as recent reports have suggested, SoftBank is intent on capitalising on the AI wave and there does seem to be a focus on edge computing, smart cities, automation,, etc basically all areas in which our technology would be a perfect fit.

Renault abandons driverless cars, turning to minibuses instead

Level 3 autonomy ruled out for Renault cars as French brand switches to driverless minibuses based on Master van
Renault has announced it will no longer invest in developing fully autonomous cars, preferring to apply its next-generation tech to create driverless minibuses based on its Master van.
The French manufacturer says it has made the switch because current regulations would forbid its cars from operating in fully autonomous mode, making the tech redundant.
The company also says the cost of rolling out Level 3 autonomy would be prohibitive.
Renault will continue to offer its lower-grade Level 2 and Level 2+ autonomous driving aids with its adaptive cruise control system, which makes its vehicles “safe and pleasant to drive with confidence”.

However, the huge technical complexity between Level 2 and Level 3 means “at this stage, the induced cost to be borne by customers in relation to the driving benefits would make demand insufficient or even anecdotal”.
“Innovation only makes sense if it is shared, economically accessible and genuinely useful to as many people as possible,” the company said.
Mercedes-Benz is currently one of the few car-makers to have already deployed its Level 3 tech, which only works in special geofenced areas and is restricted to speeds up to 60km/h.
Crucially, while its autonomous Drive Pilot is operating, Mercedes-Benz remains legally liable for any mistakes or collisions caused.
The Level 3 tech includes Lidar sensors, cameras, HD 3D mapping and even microphones. It can even perform an emergency procedure if the driver doesn’t take back control after numerous prompts.

With all those hurdles to be overcome, Renault says it will apply its tech to a robotised electric minibus based on the Renault Master van – a radical departure from the 2017 Symbioz concept that suggested Renault passenger cars would be driverless by 2030.
The new robobus will be designed to reduce fleet running costs and improve safety. It will be developed in partnership with Sino-American tech company WeRide, which already has a trial involving Level 4 autonomous shuttles on public roads.
With 700 vehicles already testing globally, the tech start-up says it has already racked up a combined 27 million kilometres of real-world testing.
Renault and WeRide will run an experimental shuttle service at next month’s French open tennis tournament in Paris.
