LAGUNA HILLS, CA / ACCESSWIRE / March 6, 2023 / BrainChip Holdings Ltd (ASX:BRN)(OTCQX:BRCHF)(ADR:BCHPY), the world's first commercial producer of ultra-low power, fully digital, neuromorphic AI IP, today announced the second generation of its Akida™ platform that drives extremely efficient and intelligent edge devices for the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) solutions and services market that is expected to be $1T+ by 2030. This hyper-efficient yet powerful neural processing system, architected for embedded Edge AI applications, now adds efficient 8-bit processing to go with advanced capabilities such as time domain convolutions and vision transformer acceleration, for an unprecedented level of performance in sub-watt devices, taking them from perception towards cognition.

The second-generation of Akida now includes Temporal Event Based Neural Nets (TENN) spatial-temporal convolutions that supercharge the processing of raw time-continuous streaming data, such as video analytics, target tracking, audio classification, analysis of MRI and CT scans for vital signs prediction, and time series analytics used in forecasting, and predictive maintenance. These capabilities are critically needed in industrial, automotive, digital health, smart home and smart city applications. The TENNs allow for radically simpler implementations by consuming raw data directly from sensors - drastically reduces model size and operations performed, while maintaining very high accuracy. This can shrink design cycles and dramatically lower the cost of development.

Another addition to the second generation of Akida is Vision Transformers (ViT) acceleration, a leading edge neural network that has been shown to perform extremely well on various computer vision tasks, such as image classification, object detection, and semantic segmentation. This powerful acceleration, combined with Akida's ability to process multiple layers simultaneously and hardware support for skip connections, allows it to self-manage the execution of complex networks like RESNET-50 completely in the neural processor without CPU intervention and minimizes system load.

The Akida IP platform has a unique ability to learn on the device for continuous improvement and data-less customization that improves security and privacy. This, combined with the efficiency and performance available, enable very differentiated solutions that until now have not been possible. These include secure, small form factor devices like hearable and wearable devices, that take raw audio input, medical devices for monitoring heart and respiratory rates and other vitals that consume only microwatts of power. This can scale up to HD-resolution vision solutions delivered through high-value, battery-operated or fanless devices enabling a wide variety of applications from surveillance systems to factory management and augmented reality to scale effectively.

"We see an increasing demand for real-time, on-device, intelligence in AI applications powered by our MCUs and the need to make sensors smarter for industrial and IoT devices," said Roger Wendelken, Senior Vice President in Renesas' IoT and Infrastructure Business Unit. Sounak Dey

Senior Scientist, Neuromorphic Computing and Spiking Neural Network, TCS Research

Emergence of small satellites for earth observation missions has opened up new horizons for space research but at the same time posed newer challenges of limited power and compute resource arising out of the size & weight constraints imposed by these satellites. In our paper, titled "Low Power & Low Latency Cloud Cover Detection in Small Satellites Using On-board Neuromorphic Processors", accepted at #IJCNN 2023, a premier AI conference, we have shown how a multistage CNN trained on multispectral Earth observation images for Cloud Cover Detection, can be converted into an SNN using the CNN2SNN conversion toolkit of Brainchip. Further, the converted SNN running on AKIDA neuromorphic platform can achieve 95.46% accuracy while power consumption and latency are found to be upto 230x & 7x more efficient than the CNN running on a Jetson TX2.

Thanks to all the co-authors Chetan Kadway Arijit Mukherjee Dr. Arpan Pal and a special thanks to Gilles Bézard and BrainChip without whose active support this work would not have been successful. Tata Consultancy Services - Research #SNN #NeuromorphicComputing

“ A neuromorphic chip inspired by the human mind? It seems like a concept from a sci-fi novel, yet it's the perfect core for our cutting-edge space robot!

In 2025, we plan to launch our repair robot to orbit. Akin to the skilled droids from Star Wars, it will be repairing a spacecraft. Our robot needs an AI-driven brain that surpasses the limitations of current technology to perform complex repair tasks in the unforgiving vacuum of space.

We needed something exceptional.

We teamed up with BrainChip , the pioneers behind the neuromorphic Akida AI chip. This cutting-edge chip enables our robots to perceive and interact with their surroundings in space, learning in the process.

Our robot's brain, powered by this groundbreaking technology, is set to launch into orbit in January 2024 aboard the Space Machines Company spacecraft. Once there, we will refine our robot's vision system, training with a video feed directly from the satellite's cameras.

Working with the Brainchip team on this mission was a great pleasure! They supported us along the way, providing their chips and engineering advice.

In the coming weeks, we'll tell you more about the chip's capabilities and what we had to do to space-qualify our system.

Stay in touch.

Here is an interesting statistic for us all to ponder: "Since the end of 2009, the total debt owed by governments, business and households has risen by 90%, according to the Federal Reserve."

This debt was more comforting in the previous years when the world had central banks injecting unheralded amounts of funds into the markets, and less comforting in present times when rates have been pumped up to guard against inflation.

All this and more is contained within this weeks Chris Ciovacco video.

If you choose to watch, and once again I recommend it, put the playback speed up to 1.5 because he speaks somewhat slowly.

This copy and paste mentality is an insult to all BRN holders and needs to be corrected when the next 4C is released.

Time for accountability is now.

Let’s not let our company become a boys club.

Targets need to be set and targets need to met.
Does anyone actually think any employer would pay bonuses to someone even though there targets have not been met…… why should our company be any different to others in the real world…….you can’t go up to your employer and say can I have the same bonus I got last year even though market conditions have changed due to head winds.

Your pay gets effected like everyone else in the real world.

Remember who is BRN employers…….that’s us the shareholders.

I wish I could paint like Vincent
I would urge everyone to read this insightful and well researched article following on from a discussion here yesterday around Seeing Machines.
It also covers in detail the Occula Neural processing unit which is what Seeing Machines are using.
From humble beginnings in Canberra it appears that Seeing Machines are a serious player in the Diver Monitoring System market.
Is DMS going to prove to be more important than full autonomy??
Enjoy you Sunday read.
Screen shot from the video within the article. Article is from 17th Jan 2022.
No doubt @Diogenese could bring out the big club for these figures but Ford and VW appear to be very happy.

I don't think we can list 9n the NASDAQ with the SP so low and minimal revenue. There's a set of criteria that have to be met and I think we fall short. Once we do qualify I think we'll be a less attractive takeover target due to increased price.

My opinion only
You haven’t read lamps post properly. He’s talking about arm listing and then buying brainchip. He didn’t say anything about brainchip listing, but I guess it’s pretty easy to forget which hat you’re wearing when you play two characters on this forum.

March 2023 quarter…….

In the coming quarter, the Company will focus on key sales targets and converting technical evaluations into paid licenses. In addition, the Company is accelerating development of next-generation Akida IP and products to extend our technological lead and market opportunity. We remain positive on future market penetration and broad adoption of BrainChip's technology.

Good afternoon,

The points you have raised I believe are fair.

" This copy and paste mentality is an insult to all BRN holders and needs to be corrected when the next 4C is released."

Yes, it does reflect a touch of laziness or arrogance, but I think in acknowledging your observation, I would like to say that
the companies position remains that very goal, as in, more of the same, the status quo hasn't changed.

I won't be attending this AGM in person, if Anil was attending I would have made a special effort, if Duy Loan Le attends make
sure you talk with her and welcome her to our company from a shareholders perspective.

The question I'd like to pose today is this, the bonuses that have been issued throughout the year or quarter, what milestone/s
were triggered to release these to the staff.

I have a pretty good idea and they aren't attached to any income (revenue) bearing performance to date, but more, what's been
created that holds the key to future revenue streams that we will all enjoy, the engineering staff, the research staff have all been
expanded upon, the work ethic is unrelenting, having a small team in comparison to other companies within this tech space, what
the Brainchip team has achieved to date, advancing our technical position in such a short timeframe is worth the rewards in my
opinion.

Correct me if I'm totally wrong here, but I don't recall the company issuing any facts as to what the confidential milestone/s the
staff concerned had to achieve, but clearly they have, I totally trust Peter and his judgement, if he believes that the bonuses were/are
warranted, well then, I sleep easy in knowing that to be a fair and reasonable decision that he and the Board have made.

My opinions only, yes that's correct, mine, I own the lot.

I’m okay with no revenue at this point.

The only one thing I believe to trigger bonuses in this climate is IP deals and better communication from our company.

Our technology has been commercially available for over 2 years.

We have a world class sales team that need to covert lookers into buyers.

My expectations would have been at lest one IP deal from the last 12 months.

In my view if there’s no revenue then there must have IP deals.

Our Board should hit up the ASX Board and say we stick ridgedly to yours and ASIC’s rules about compliance and disclosure with our Company and we definitely do NOT put out fluff announcements,…So how about all you lot Stopping 🛑 all the institutional Bot attacks/manipulation and outright Manipulation of our Companies share price??
Because surely our shareholders should be protected from such manipulation in a truly free market…shouldn’t they?

Just my take on what I think would be a common sense and decent approach for our Board to take. Vlad

Or the other way around there is no announcement and stock price comes down that much.Does it mean company was pumping the stock?
Before anyone react with negativity I am still a holder but the market is behaving like that.
The only thing I want to say without revenue we will always need support from the management on necessary updates.if there is no update on asx that is only providing fuel to shorters especially when revenue is absent even after 2 years of commercialisation of akida 1000.
On the other hand there is never a set formula for success and failures are the learning curves to be successful. I have 100% faith in technology and will wait till it strikes.

This post @AusEire needs to be conveyed to management, especially our CEO !
With over 100 likes so far its clear the 1000 eyes are thinking the same.

Please everybody forward this post onto Tony Dawe at Investor Relations ( as i have done ) as we really need the board/management/ and our esteemed leader to understand that we shareholders require more info rather than the copy/paste we"ve seen.

Awesome job by the author, .................. even Blind Freedie would agree !!!

AKIDO ( more info ) BALLISTO
My favourite part of this whole this is Akido Ballisto. I think we have a new catch phrase.

I hope somebody told Sean before joining how savage us Aussies could be when showing affection...

But like the electorate voting, the market is always right

I fully agree with you Vladsblood
Yes Gies we need our Board to turn the table around and publicly put the 🥾 into those who are destroying our free/fair “ment to be” Markets. Vlad

Given we're compatible with the M series, inc M85, be nice to piggyback on this with some further penetration into the auto sector.

ARM completes functional safety revamp of microcontrollers with Cortex-M23 update

ARM has updated its seven year old Cortex-M23 microcontroller with functional safety, completing the support across the range of M-class controllers.

To speed up time-to-market for automotive partners, ARM has been adding more functional safety capabilities to M-profile cores and certifying them with an external assessor for ISO 26262. The updated Cortex-M23 means the full portfolio of Cortex-M microcontrollers, including Cortex-M85 and Cortex-M55, now include functional safety features.

Despite being launched in 2016, the Cortex-M23 remains ARM’s most power-efficient Cortex-M CPU and has been updated to include additional diagnostic coverage for safety-critical applications. Examples include ultrasonic parking sensors for parking assistance, tire pressure and rain sensors, lighting and LED controllers for headlights and brake lights. Many of these applications require ASIL B, a medium level of integrity.

ASIL B level normally requires the detection of 90 percent of single point faults, and that transient faults are addressed, if applicable. Transient faults are tricky in that they can go easily undetected. This is because a particle could hit an area of the design and flip one bit of data, but it is not long before the next bit of data is written to that location, overwriting the flipped bit says Laura Armitstead, Product Manager for ARM’s Automotive line of business.

The updated Cortex-M23 adds transient fault protection to address this issue for applications that are constrained by area and cost where a dual-core lockstep approach would be undesirable. It also adds interface protection for the detection of faults at the boundary of the CPU, removing more work at the system level for chip designers.

The use of a Software Test Library for Cortex-M23 would also provide more diagnostic coverage of permanent faults, complementing the internal core safety mechanisms. These additional features have no impact on benchmark performance compared to the previous Cortex-M23, making adoption simpler.

For applications where dual-core lockstep is required, there is a new Dual Core Lockstep application note specific to Cortex-M23. This document gives guidance on how to implement this feature on Cortex-M23 and what to watch out for when implementing it. This might also be appropriate for an ASIL B application if there is additional die area and power available for a dual core design.

Remember who is BRN employers…….that’s us the shareholders.
I don't want to start any friction here, but please correct me if I've got this all wrong, so you go buy a couple of shares in a public listed company from your "super hero" account and you're now the company employers?
