7. LAGUNA HILLS, CA / ACCESSWIRE / March 6, 2023 / BrainChip Holdings Ltd (ASX:BRN)(OTCQX:BRCHF)(ADR:BCHPY), the world's first commercial producer of ultra-low power, fully digital, neuromorphic AI IP, today announced the second generation of its Akida™ platform that drives extremely efficient and intelligent edge devices for the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) solutions and services market that is expected to be $1T+ by 2030. This hyper-efficient yet powerful neural processing system, architected for embedded Edge AI applications, now adds efficient 8-bit processing to go with advanced capabilities such as time domain convolutions and vision transformer acceleration, for an unprecedented level of performance in sub-watt devices, taking them from perception towards cognition.

The second-generation of Akida now includes Temporal Event Based Neural Nets (TENN) spatial-temporal convolutions that supercharge the processing of raw time-continuous streaming data, such as video analytics, target tracking, audio classification, analysis of MRI and CT scans for vital signs prediction, and time series analytics used in forecasting, and predictive maintenance. These capabilities are critically needed in industrial, automotive, digital health, smart home and smart city applications. The TENNs allow for radically simpler implementations by consuming raw data directly from sensors - drastically reduces model size and operations performed, while maintaining very high accuracy. This can shrink design cycles and dramatically lower the cost of development.

Another addition to the second generation of Akida is Vision Transformers (ViT) acceleration, a leading edge neural network that has been shown to perform extremely well on various computer vision tasks, such as image classification, object detection, and semantic segmentation. This powerful acceleration, combined with Akida's ability to process multiple layers simultaneously and hardware support for skip connections, allows it to self-manage the execution of complex networks like RESNET-50 completely in the neural processor without CPU intervention and minimizes system load.

The Akida IP platform has a unique ability to learn on the device for continuous improvement and data-less customization that improves security and privacy. This, combined with the efficiency and performance available, enable very differentiated solutions that until now have not been possible. These include secure, small form factor devices like hearable and wearable devices, that take raw audio input, medical devices for monitoring heart and respiratory rates and other vitals that consume only microwatts of power. This can scale up to HD-resolution vision solutions delivered through high-value, battery-operated or fanless devices enabling a wide variety of applications from surveillance systems to factory management and augmented reality to scale effectively.

"We see an increasing demand for real-time, on-device, intelligence in AI applications powered by our MCUs and the need to make sensors smarter for industrial and IoT devices," said Roger Wendelken, Senior Vice President in Renesas' IoT and Infrastructure Business Unit. 16. 2023 – TATA CONSULTING SERVICES CONTINUE THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH BRAINCHIP AND RECEIVE CONGRATULATIONS ON THEIR SUCCESSFUL WORK BY ANIL MANKAR VIA SOCIAL MEDIA -

Sounak Dey

Senior Scientist, Neuromorphic Computing and Spiking Neural Network, TCS Research

Emergence of small satellites for earth observation missions has opened up new horizons for space research but at the same time posed newer challenges of limited power and compute resource arising out of the size & weight constraints imposed by these satellites. In our paper, titled "Low Power & Low Latency Cloud Cover Detection in Small Satellites Using On-board Neuromorphic Processors", accepted at #IJCNN 2023, a premier AI conference, we have shown how a multistage CNN trained on multispectral Earth observation images for Cloud Cover Detection, can be converted into an SNN using the CNN2SNN conversion toolkit of Brainchip. Further, the converted SNN running on AKIDA neuromorphic platform can achieve 95.46% accuracy while power consumption and latency are found to be upto 230x & 7x more efficient than the CNN running on a Jetson TX2.

Thanks to all the co-authors Chetan Kadway Arijit Mukherjee Dr. Arpan Pal and a special thanks to Gilles Bézard and BrainChip without whose active support this work would not have been successful. Tata Consultancy Services - Research #SNN #NeuromorphicComputing

“ A neuromorphic chip inspired by the human mind? It seems like a concept from a sci-fi novel, yet it's the perfect core for our cutting-edge space robot!

In 2025, we plan to launch our repair robot to orbit. Akin to the skilled droids from Star Wars, it will be repairing a spacecraft. Our robot needs an AI-driven brain that surpasses the limitations of current technology to perform complex repair tasks in the unforgiving vacuum of space.

We needed something exceptional.

We teamed up with BrainChip , the pioneers behind the neuromorphic Akida AI chip. This cutting-edge chip enables our robots to perceive and interact with their surroundings in space, learning in the process.

Our robot's brain, powered by this groundbreaking technology, is set to launch into orbit in January 2024 aboard the Space Machines Company spacecraft. Once there, we will refine our robot's vision system, training with a video feed directly from the satellite's cameras.

Working with the Brainchip team on this mission was a great pleasure! They supported us along the way, providing their chips and engineering advice.

In the coming weeks, we'll tell you more about the chip's capabilities and what we had to do to space-qualify our system.

Stay in touch.

Many of you here who have journeyed with me from HCrapper days till now would know that I am an ardent supporter of the company and the technology.

That being said, I do have concern regarding the management / management style of the current line up. For some public companies, a financial forecast is issued, usually a forward quarter and sometimes year estimate. If there is to be any deviation (usually negative), then a profit guidance is issued. That's not so hard to do especially for BRN given that the lead times are long and engagement predictable. For example if I were in a 2-year long engagement with a customer, then there would be milestone payments along the way, and this can be forecast with reasonable accuracy. I don't expect accurate figures, but at least let us shareholders know the ballpark range of revenue. For example the company could have said "The next quarter's revenue is expected to be between $40K to $60K mainly comprised of NRE fees and AKD 1000 boards. This is XX% lower than the previous quarter's revenue as milestone payment obligations are structured to be paid on a half-yearly basis (every 2 quarters)." This forecasting helps to keep the management accountable and on their toes also. Saying revenue will be "lumpy" is as unhelpful as the captain of a plane saying there'll be "some turbulence". Does he mean "mind your drink" turbulence or "slam into the ceiling" turbulence?

Secondly, the progress with partnerships / IP licencees / customers has to be made clearer. E.g. The co should let us know what these terms represent, (e.g. do "partnerships" might mean that we get a % of the final product sale price, or "IP licence" means a one-off licence fee + % of the chip price, etc). Just general guidelines (of course all contracts are different) would do. I mean all the announcements are moot if for example the definition of "partner" just means they bought a board and are currently tinkering with it.

Thirdly, while we're ahead, execution of commercialisation strategy is key. Just because we're first to market with the best tech doesn't we'll enjoy success. Those of my vintage and older know what happened in the Betamax vs VHS tape battle. Betamax was introduced 2 years earlier, was of a slightly higher resolution, could store almost twice the length of video (5 hours!), had a smaller form factor, but ultimately lost out to VHS due to a flawed execution by Sony. Their mistakes at that time was a higher selling price, not allowing licencing of their tech to other companies earlier and something or other about NTSC / PAL / SECAM compatibility (I don't recall the details). When I was a teen, a homegrown company Creative Technology was the clear global leader in the digital soundcard space, with their SoundBlaster sound cards being cheaper and having better sound reproduction than their competitors (Roland / AdLib), but due to missteps in their execution also became a bygone name.

All it takes is several missteps and we'll squander our lead and be relegated to the annals (yes 2 "n"s!) of history.

All this time I've been trying to make sense of why we have so many people from ARM in our ranks.

Would not surprise me to see a takeover bid for brn after they list on the NASDAQ later this year......

Could happen....

I don't think we can list 9n the NASDAQ with the SP so low and minimal revenue. There's a set of criteria that have to be met and I think we fall short. Once we do qualify I think we'll be a less attractive takeover target due to increased price.

My opinion only

Now seems an ideal time for any takeover especially with so many positive things going for the company in the near future and with many share holders disgruntled currently with management and the SP which is now sitting around august 2020 prices with many shareholders that brought between $1-$2 would probably luv to get a few $$ for there shares than they paid for them and all the institutes wouldn’t give a dam and would probably vote a yes as long as they make $$$.

Or maybe a company is waiting until more versions of Akida are released before making an offer?

Their mistake at that time was not allowing licencing of their tech to other companies and something or other about NTSC / PAL.

Dear MadMayHam,

With respect to this, your 3rd point (below) and Betamax vs, VHS, you realize the Brainchip chairman of their board cited this exact same example in his AGM presentation last year, but unlike you he cited the lack of signing up the movie studios as the primary reason they failed. But maybe that's what you meant by saying "... not allowing licensing of their tech to other companies". Not being critical of you, simply suggesting you and board chairman kinda think alike,...at least with respect to # 3.

Thirdly, while we're ahead, execution of commercialisation strategy is key. Just because we're first to market with the best tech doesn't we'll enjoy success. Now seems an ideal time for any takeover especially with so many positive things going for the company in the near future and with many share holders disgruntled currently with management and the SP which is now sitting around august 2020 prices with many shareholders that brought between $1-$2 would probably luv to get a few $$ for for there shares than they paid for them and all the institutes wouldn’t give a dam and would probably vote a yes as long as they $$$.
Well if we did have a take over bid it would make the share price rise
Lol 😂
But hopefully that won’t happen( take over)

So
We as investors know very little of what is going on, only the board know how much or many people really want the technology.

If you were running a company like BrainChip would you be telling or sharing that information ??

Say Dell release there new computers in 3 weeks time and ford come out and say that in January 24 they will release a new super car 🚙 with brainchip in it
Would you be happy with management or still annoyed that did not share that information with you.

The business climate is very tricky at the moment and companies have pulled back there spending because they are not sure what’s go in ng on.

It will take the fed to come out and say everything is good , back on track for people and business to right there course again and get some positive momentum, yes it will happen and it might be July or December but it will happen.

Fortunately the AGM is in only 3 weeks so shareholders will be able to discuss and get answers to all of their concerns pretty soon. Knowing that the company reads these threads I would expect comprehensive answers to licencing structure and the way in which BRN receives revenue from partners and IP licences. NDA's do not prevent the company from discussing fundamental business progress and information that shareholders are entitled to.

Even a comment like 'we have 15 customers protected by NDA's of which 6 are highly likely to proceed with Gen2 licencing agreements'. Unless there are no customers at all, in which case this should also be conveyed to shareholders. We are entitled to information in order to make an educated investment decision.

I am impatient for the ARM podcast though, it could reveal the path forward for us - here's hoping it's not just a promotional event but rather a commitment ceremony 👌

so true... and so does NVISO!
There's also another brainchip employees that liked the post, not just Rob. There's definitely something there.

Every brand new car in Europe from 2024 requires a driver drowsiness monitoring system. Nviso is the perfect partnership here. Hopefully it starts a solid revenue stream in 2024

I agree, especially on management style
e.g customers are hidden under NDA and they don't want to come out of hiding even after 2 years of akida 1000.
Targets are always met and shares are issued against those targets. But we, as share holders never know what are the targets. Sales are not improving but targets are met.
There is no doubt technology is the best but execution still looks challenging.
To me Sean is the right person as he is bringing in the necessary decision making e.g signing with arm, Intel improving eco system , increasing no. of employees etc.
If the same can incorporate forward looking statements that will add icing to the cake.
No forwarding looking statements means management is still going through hit or miss mindset.
In last two years a lot of companies start talking on similarly lines like brn but still until we execute our plans in the right way there is no success.
To me management should be more open about targets and expectations so that we holders can get better understanding of mile stones fixed by company.
I still feel it is too much on Sean as the company was not living in reality before Sean joined. We were having NASA but no real eco system partners and you cannot sell a technology without right partners. So my vote is definitely there for Sean and only improvement I want is company should share a bit more with holders on targets.

I don't think we can list 9n the NASDAQ with the SP so low and minimal revenue. There's a set of criteria that have to be met and I think we fall short. Once we do qualify I think we'll be a less attractive takeover target due to increased price.

My opinion only
I think he was talking about the ARM listing on NASDAQ.

"... not allowing licensing of their tech to other companies".
Great point.
MegaChips and Renesas are like the movie studios. They won't be using Akida, but rather their clients will be. But @MadMayHam is right. Who is looking at using Akida? The NDA's are only there to protect the makers of the final product - it enables them to go slow and see what they can come up with in their own time, which is costing us dearly.

Only question I would have at the AGM is: Do you agree that the NDA's are slowing our process to commercialization, and if so can we dispense with some of the NDA's?
