As I understand it, the legal form of shorting is borrowing shares at $A per share for a fee of $B per share and hoping that the price falls to a price $C, where $(A-C) is sufficient to cover the cost of borrowing the shares ($B) plus a profit per share $D.

That is A-C > B+D.

This enables the shorter to buy the shares at $C to return the shares to the lender, thus making a profit of $D per share.

Such shorting would be legal, if unsportsmanlike.

This is a straight gamble, betting against the SP rather than investing in the company. The core business of the stock market is to foster investment in businesses. Its remit does not include a casino licence.

On the other hand, if the borrower has specific knowledge of some fact which will cause the SP to fall, and if this knowledge is not public knowledge, which could be classed as insider trading.

Furthermore, if the borrower attempts to manipulate the SP downwards by loading the sell side with borrowed shares, or by cross-trades among fellow miscreants, this would be illegal, although rarely penalized.

So, I would like to see that the borrowed shares were frozen (eg, put in escrow), out of the control of the shorter, the illegalities may be avoided, but there would be problems in determining, when the shorter requests a sale, whether this is a genuine sale. Obviously, small packets dragging the SP down on close would be a clearly criminal act. Indeed, all small packets sold with the effect of lowering the SP should be suspect.

So, in the absence of a total ban on shorting, I consider that there should be strict controls on the sale of borrowed shares.
IMO ... to make any money from shorting you need to be trading in the millions of shares to make it economically viable ..... and nerves of steel if it all goes wrong.

Howdy All,

This Automotive Human Machine Interface Market Overview is very cool, especially where it talks about key trends being "HMI technologies to enable seamless communication between the vehicle and the driver, allowing the vehicle to make real-time decisions based on the driver's inputs and the surrounding environment" as well as "the growing adoption of natural language processing (NLP) and voice recognition technologies".

And it's projected to achieve a market size of USD 48.3 Billion by 2030, which isn't too shabby!😋

I had a bit of time up my sleeve, so I decided to compare the list of Automotive Human Machine Interface Market Key Players shown in this overview and marked them with a red star on Cerence's chart thingy and check out the result!

My point being, IF Akida is incorporated into "Cerence Immersive Companion" (which is what I suspect) which is going to be rolled out in FY23/24, then it would no doubt be adopted sooner or later by a majority of these key payers IMO, which wouldn't be too shabby either. 😝

DYOR as this is my opinion only.

Automotive Human Machine Interface Market Overview
The Automotive Human Machine Interface (HMI) Market is a highly dynamic and rapidly evolving sector that encompasses a plethora of advanced technologies and systems designed to improve the driving experience by facilitating seamless communication between the vehicle and the driver. The market is characterized by plenty of diverse and highly technical products, ranging from advanced instrument clusters, head-up displays, and touchscreens to voice recognition systems, gesture control interfaces, and augmented reality systems.
One of the most prominent trends in the Automotive HMI market is the increasing adoption of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving technologies. These systems rely heavily on sophisticated HMI technologies to enable seamless communication between the vehicle and the driver, allowing the vehicle to make real-time decisions based on the driver's inputs and the surrounding environment. For example, a vehicle equipped with lane departure warning and lane keeping assist systems would use an HMI to alert the driver of potential lane departures and assist in steering the vehicle back into its lane.
Another key trend in the Automotive Human Machine Interface market is the growing adoption of natural language processing (NLP) and voice recognition technologies. These technologies enable drivers to interact with their vehicles using spoken commands, allowing them to perform tasks such as adjusting the climate control, changing the radio station, or making phone calls without taking their hands off the wheel. For instance, a vehicle equipped with an NLP-based HMI system would allow the driver to say "I'm hungry," and the system would then suggest nearby restaurants and allow the driver to make a reservation using voice commands.
The Automotive HMI market is also characterized by a growing focus on the integration of augmented reality technologies. These technologies enable drivers to view real-time information such as traffic conditions, weather forecasts, and navigation instructions superimposed on the real-world view. A vehicle equipped with an augmented reality-based HMI system would allow the driver to see virtual navigation instructions superimposed on the windshield, making it easier to follow the route and stay on track. As these technologies continue to evolve, we can expect to see even more sophisticated and intuitive HMI systems that will further enhance the driving experience.

Thank you for sharing mrgds.

This is just another example of the calibre of our company, its people and professionalism. Its the things like this that should remind us that all of the rest is just noise. Be it, shorting, manipulation, negative commentary or general bullshit. Our company does not keep shareholders in the dark, they are transparent and reveal what they can while at the same time ensuring they do not breach NDA or potentially put current or future contracts at risk.

We all own a piece of a world class company with a world class product that has the potential to, and by all accounts is well on its way to disrupting conventional computing at a time when the market is screaming for AI. The potential that AKIDA will positively impact millions of lives everyday is very real and what that means for us as share holders is perhaps beyond our loftiest of predictions.

Happy Sunday all.

IMO ... to make any money from shorting you need to be trading in the millions of shares to make it economically viable ..... and nerves of steel if it all goes wrong.
It's my understanding ( albeit naively perhaps ) that shorters borrow the shares at something like a 1/10 i.e. 90% of the shares value. I did a course on shorting ( briefly ) many years ago, I'm assuming these rules are the same or similar now. N.B. I stand to be corrected though. At that time, I didn't have the ticker to pursue this form of investing, and had concerns about the morals of this method of accumulating some wealth, just like many others.

It certainly is in my eyes, manipulation, because computing ( bots - algo's etc ) is/are utilized ( and one must have the training/ knowledge, it's advantageous to have these skills for a positive result ) to aid the end result from what I understand, ( albeit naively perhaps ).

Anyway, fingers crossed for the next 2 days chippers IMHO.

TOKYO, Jan. 27, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Global Automotive Human Machine Interface Market Size accounted for USD 17.1 Billion in 2021 and is projected to achieve a market size of USD 48.3 Billion by 2030 rising at a CAGR of 12.4% from 2022 to 2030.

Hi Van @Bravo ,

Akida is built in standard CMOS technology, so it can go as low as CMOS can go.

I think that, at 3 nm, they need to do special tricks with the transistor architecture:

"Samsung's 3 nm process is based on GAAFET (gate-all-around field-effect transistor) technology, a type of multi-gate MOSFET technology, while TSMC's 3 nm process will still use FinFET (fin field-effect transistor) technology,[10] despite TSMC developing GAAFET transistors.[11] Specifically, Samsung plans to use its own variant of GAAFET called MBCFET (multi-bridge channel field-effect transistor).[12] Intel's 3 nm process (dubbed "Intel 3" without the "nm" suffix) will use a refined, enhanced and optimized version of FinFET technology compared to its previous process nodes in terms of performance gained per watt, use of EUV lithography and power and area improvement.[13]"

FinFet is turning the transistors on their side to take advantage of the aspect ratio. I imagine that this would be a slower process as they would need to build up the layers "transversely" to the older configuration. Probably not for NASA/DOD.

This would probably entail a considerable amount of re-design.

chicony-1.jpg

At this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Taiwanese firm Chicony Electronics and Israel-based Emza Visual Sense will launch a battery-powered, AI-based human sensing product for IoT smart home applications.

A reference design is available and this can be experienced at Emza’s suite in the Westgate Resort.

Chicony Electronics makes input devices, power supplies and digital imaging products. Emza Visual Sense provides visual sensors allowing for the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in various applications.

The reference design is claimed to be the world’s first battery-powered human sensor for the IoT.

Chicony and Emza say they are bringing the sense of sight to IoT products and systems. Where cameras and motion detectors do not have the intelligence or accuracy to sense and differentiate people effectively, this jointly developed human sensor does. Its ability to detect human beings and their activities exclusively results in reduced false positives and increased cost effectiveness. The compact unit installs easily, with no infrastructure requirements, and maintains privacy by not storing images.

“Sight-based human sensing is a truly disruptive technology opening up an entire realm of AI opportunities in IoT,” said Roger Lu, president of Chicony. “By integrating Emza’s human sensing capabilities with our advanced camera modules and communications components, we can now enrich products and systems with the intelligence and accuracy they never had before.”

Chicony and Emza invite everyone in Las Vegas for CES to experience the battery-powered, AI-based human sensor first-hand.

“We are excited about addressing the rapidly growing demand for IoT together with one of the largest original design manufacturers in the world,” said Yoram Zylberberg, CEO of Emza. “With its broad product offering and global reach, Chicony is well positioned to extend our visual sensor into a host of markets, including security, smart home, smart building, consumer appliance, notebook, automotive and industry.”

Chicony Electronics is a Taiwan-based multinational electronics manufacturer of input devices, power supplies and digital imaging products including desktop and mobile keyboards, digital and PC cameras, integrated webcams and digital video cameras, as well as motherboards for personal computers and notebooks. Founded in 1983 and based in Taipei, it has operations in more than 15 countries worldwide and a client base of top-tier brands including Dropcam, Google, GoPro, HP and Lenovo.

Emza Visual Sense designs, develops, manufactures and markets always-on, low-power visual sensors allowing for the adoption of AI. It enables computer manufacturers, appliance OEMs and IoT providers to make their products and systems smarter. Its always-on WiseEye platform – which integrates machine-learning trainable algorithms with a CMOS sensor and AI SoC processor – sits at the edge of the cloud to optimise data and bandwidth use, increase privacy and reduce latency and computing and storage costs.

Emza is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Himax Technologies.

While we're on the subject (world domination), someone has found the fact that MegaChips has teamed up with Morse Micro

This means we are one degree of separation from potentially the next communication network of the IoT.

If we can hang on the coat-tails of MorseMicro, we could find ourselves having a couple of Akida IP implementations in almost all the IoT connected devices.
