(Updates with comment from Zijin.):
Zijin’s “priority has been to develop the concession and commence production at the site,” a spokesperson for the company said by email.

Criminal scum, fuck off already.

So good to have some exciting news items coming through. The mind boggles what conversations are taking place.

I did feel a bit deflated though when Jen’s mentioned he’d be happy with a $1ps takeover.
I really didn’t stick it through the last few years for that… if that’s the amount would rather see how the courts play it out.

While I got in early, I only had a small parcel. And I topped up alllll the way along as I was able to save money to buy more (I believed in this so saved hard for it).
I’m not a big holder compared to most here. But I’m kind of hoping for $3 which would give me a more comfortable financial life (the mortgage rates are a fun-killer at the moment!)

Just saying it. If Billy and Jeff buy us out. Nigel should get a sweet 2mill a year gig developing this. And we’ll need some stain glass windows with his saintly likeness.

While it may seem unpalatable to allow Zijin to retain CDL, even with appropriate compensation to AZV, the alternative is probably equally unpalatable...more long, complex and costly arbitration and negotiations. In the meantime Zijin continues to develop CDL unrestrained. Even if AVZ wins all its ICC and ICSID arbitrations, it could take years to get even a dollar in compensation. I'm not sure that benefits anyone.

Zijin is well and truly entrenched in CDL, and has publicly stated that it intends shipping lithium concentrate in 2026. The DRC govt is unlikely to reverse the conga-line of grubby transactions and kick out Zijin because Zijin has paid (albeit corruptly) for the rights to develop CDL and has a truckload of dirt on everyone from the floor-sweeper all the way to King Felix-the-Corrupt himself.

Zijin is the world's fourth largest miner. It has deep pockets, and can pay adequate compensation to AVZ.

Regardless of how this transpires, Kibeya should be prosecuted.

Cheers
F

This was so satisfying.
It was very deliberate, it didn't need to be in the article, but they put it in.
I'd say whoever wrote it is as disgusted by cominiere as we are.
Yes noticed it also.
One way for Felix to save face and keep his Rolexs.
The North appears to be gone and they also save face .
The unknown is Trump and what conditions he wants .

It's worth re-highlighting this segment from the most recent announcement:

I would say at that stage negotiations (verbal) are still ongoing, but a number has been put foward.

💯
I think that $6.2B USD figure is far more appropriate. $1 sounds good if you own 10+ million shares but for fair value to shareholders and for what the project is worth a sale needs to be a lot more than that.

Yep, 6.2B USD is the floor price for fair compensation of the project. Whether or not we get some trauma compensation is yet to be seen....

Kobold is not here to fuk around.
They know CATH has their fingers in the pie already, and had $$ to back it.
Kobold isn't going to make a half-arsed attempt to take this over just to see how it goes. A few here have already suggested ICC claim amount as a minimum threshold and I think that's probably right. I would expect a bit more just to hammer home the certainty of it and preempt any attempts from CATH to step in.

But fk me, what a way to finish the week.
Fingers crossed we're entering the final chapter of this shit-show saga.
Stay strong folks and have a good weekend.

As I eluded to prior.
CATL will want to be a part of the future of the product spat out from the mine.
I suspect a bidding war is about to explode.
Felix is now rubbing his grubby fat hands together - not only will someone else cover his ICC/ICSID penalties, but he will also receive a nice percentages fat pay check if AVZ hand over the reigns to the new owner. He’ll probably say “hey guys, I knew all along my corrupt dealings would pay off”.

If Australia doesn’t come to the party it will be the dumbest financial decision the country has ever made. Manono will control pricing and supply to the rest of the world whilst the darlings of Oz mining will suffer and diminish.

IF the US does have an offer accepted it will be well north of $9B. Future value of Manono with Lithium & Tin is $70-100B once value is extracted.

$12 or GTFO.

The bidding war will be with US companies only. CATH/CATL won't have a say as the DRC want minerals for peace (firepower).

If the AFR ignores this story like they did with the recent ICSID win, it’s clear they’ve completely lost credibility.

At this point, their editorial team seems more concerned with nursing bruised egos after being called out by shareholders for biased and subpar reporting.

I mean just look at this coverage: https://www.afr.com/company/asx/avz - they are very selective on only presenting bad news stories, even post Tommy the turds exit.
