Nobody puts Nigel in a Corner!!

Great to see some positive news and engagement in the USA. Still more patience required, but 2025 might just be our year. For now it looks like full steam ahead with the ICSID proceedings where the facts and truth will ultimately prevail imo. Good luck to all holders 🤝

77 days to go.

Praying we don’t see this through the courts, but I wonder if 2 months is enough time to cut a deal with the complexity of so many parties.

In the real world, potentially yes. But in the shameless, zero consequence, I am god, world that the DRC bureaucrats live in, probably not as I'd wager there are still some who think they are above all this and still demand bribes to do anything.

It'll be an interesting one, that's for sure.

Congo president meets US lawmaker amid talk of minerals deal

Democratic Republic of Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi has met U.S. lawmaker Ronny Jackson to discuss fighting in the east of the country and opportunities for U.S. investment, Congo’s presidency said.

The meeting took place one week after Washington said it was open to exploring critical minerals partnerships with Congo.

A Congolese lawmaker in February contacted U.S. officials to pitch a minerals-for-security deal.

A presidential statement described Jackson as a “special envoy” for U.S. President Donald Trump.

Tshisekedi faces an insurgency by Rwanda-backed M23 rebels in east Congo and his government plans to send a delegation to peace talks in Angola on Tuesday.

Congo has vast reserves of cobalt, lithium and uranium among other minerals.

The government has not publicly detailed a proposal for a deal with the U.S., saying only that it was seeking diversified partnerships.

There was no direct mention of minerals in Sunday’s statement.

“We want to work so that American companies can come and invest and work in the DRC.

And to do that, we have to make sure that there is a peaceful environment,” Jackson was quoted as saying in the statement.

The long-running conflict in east Congo is rooted in the spillover into Congo of Rwanda’s 1994 genocide and the struggle for control of Congo’s vast mineral resources.

It escalated significantly this year and M23 now controls east Congo’s two biggest cities.

Rwanda is accused of backing the Tutsi-led M23, which it denies.

Byron Cabrol, senior Africa analyst at Dragonfly, said last week it would be a struggle to entice U.S. mining companies to invest in Congo due to poor infrastructure, insecurity, corruption and the dominance of Chinese firms.

Rumours has it Tshisekedi may even try to stabilise the business conditions further by pegging the exchange rate of the DRC Paper Bag directly to the US Dollar

I didn't realise paying bribes in US$ is legal.

However with a criminal in control the sky is the limit I assume.

On a different note it looks like Canada is considering cancelling their F35 orders and to get their planes from a more reliable supplier.
(Maybe Canada doesn't want to stand in line waiting for new planes behind Putin.)

I wish our PM would do the same and on top of that tell Trump to shove his submarines up his clacker.
It would make our trade imbalance with the US look a lot healthier.

It's honestly one of our biggest roadblocks.

The individuals who are in charge of making decisions feelings have been hurt, they are happy to let the country suffer and pay the price as it will never affect them individually.

i disagree... trump wants minerals, and he wants it now... not to mention a win for him over china if it happens... and would farkwit felix be talking with trump if he wasn't desperate... he's desperate alright... his life may well depend on it... if the rebels get their way. i think nothing will stop it if trump and felix both want it.

i'm not even sure china will disrupt this with felix and trump wanting it... trump wont be there just supporting against the rebels... he'll help felix rule (rightly or wrongly).

M23 has just announced it has backed out of peace talks with the DRC that was meant to occur this coming Thursday. So Felix will be more desperate for USA to save them
