hang on, so how is settling for just the south an improvement? If that's what happens then how the fk has America's involvement in any way helped?

I am waiting now for CATL to just step in and swallow the whole thing before US can actually take any action; make a big boy offer to AVZ, then tell Zijin to fk off.
DRC is not in a strong position to negotiate the North remains with Zijin after the corruption that has been revealed.
DRC need USA for survival against the M23
IMO USA will get what it wants from the DRC.

A lot of us will walk away with good money, more than our input if south alone is bought out, personally would say yes to this 100% with no second thought to get outta this mess.

Can see Beish becoming a trump fan at this rate 😂

Because money could be handed over shortly if this went ahead... a usa company would be ready to buy it and full steam ahead for USA govt backed benefit...

The old "a bird in the hand"... surely majority here would rather get a good clip soon and move on...

Ziljin might also be asked to compensate... complete speculation (like the article I guess)

I still don't understand how ziljin gets the north due to corruption... you don't buy stolen goods and then go to the cops when the theif won't refund for damage goods....

What company would ever confess to being a part of corruption...

Either way, id be happy for sale now for south only..

Remember that the value of AVZ was based on the feasibility study which was on the south, and it’s worth a sxxt load, and the genius move by Nigel was to do a sxxt load more drilling to increase the indicated and measured category so you can give a larger dollar value to the deposit.

We did drilling in the north at Carriere which is ours and I feel peeved if we give this up because of some corrupt bastards that took millions in bribes from the Chinese(Zijin)-Cominiere(Kibeya), and the corrupt ministers, Adele Kayinda, Lisette Kabanga, Antoinette N’Samba Kalambayi, Guy Loando etc where Cominiere(Kibeya) and Zijin forged an X and a signature and bobs your uncle they steal billions with no following of mining code, feasibility study, sustainability study etc. It’s just not right!

This is what I watched this morning, it really perked up my ears as there's lots going on behind what is said/announced.

Anyone want to have a crack at a sale price for just the south?
extremely promising news. I think the most important point is that we seem to have two potential 'buyers' now so should in theory get a somewhat decent return. I wouldn't discount the Saudis making a play for something either...

Whilst it's great the US seem to have publicly come to the party, I don't think they are doing it for charity. We won't get what the resource is even remotely worth all things considered but we should get something better than what we have right now!

Let's hope this becomes a bidding war! CATL fired the first shots with the new deal they've brought forward (seemingly out of nowhere...) so I wonder if there has been a few too many loose lips. regardless, I suspect every shareholder will walk away with profit...

Also yes this all all premature speculation, but would anyone prefer AVZ to still have a stake in Manono? Say 10% or more? or just sell out completely?

The south is roughly 80% of the tenement I believe. So even at $1US, that's roughly $1.30 AUS. I'll take it.

Cooperation: The United States "open to an agreement with the DRC" on "critical minerals"

According to a statement from the U.S. State Department received by Reuters on Sunday, March 9, 2025, the United States expressed its willingness to enter into a partnership with the DRC regarding so-called "critical" strategic minerals, which are abundant in Félix Antoine Tshisekedi's country.

In this note, U.S. State Department spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated that Congo holds a significant global share of these strategic minerals, hence the idea for this agreement.

"The United States is open to discussing partnerships in this sector that are aligned with the Trump administration's America First agenda, which represents a significant share of the world's critical minerals needed for advanced technologies," Karoline Leavitt emphasized.

The US's expressed desire to reach an agreement with the DRC on these raw materials corroborates a series of rumors that have been circulating for some time, announcing a possible agreement between Washington and Kinshasa on strategic minerals in exchange for peace in the eastern part of the country, but also to boost their investment in Congo.

"The United States has worked to stimulate American private sector investment in the DRC in order to develop mineral resources in a responsible and transparent manner," she stated.

The Democratic Republic of Congo alone holds three-quarters (3/4) of the world's reserves of critical minerals: cobalt, lithium, geranium, and coltan.

According to a recent World Bank report on the Inga 3 project, the value of its reserves is estimated at $24 trillion.
