This is at the south west corner of Carrier de Leste, just below the embankment of Lake Likushi . Clearly visible are the new works from 2023 to 2024.

I would not be surprised if Zijin changed the water course with the intention to drain the lake, because a large section of access to CdL runs under the lake. If they want to dig a 300-400 m deep mine bang smack next to the lake they might have a bit of a water problem.
They might have discovered that when they drilled those holes.

It would kill 2 flies in one move: get rid of the Manono population, because of starving the water supply to the town and get access to more than 50% of CdL, which atm is below the lake.
Give the Congolese people a couple of bore pumps, a new push bike, a couple of marbles, a new set of chop sticks, a red book and take a hike.

(Thanks Bags)

Don't forget Zijin doesn't give a fuck about the DRC, Tanganjika, or Manono, they want a return on what they have 'invested' in bribes and legal fees, in a as cheap and quick as possible way.
Well before the DRC people wake up and hang Felix and cohorts on the new light masts which they recently installed in Kinshasa and kick all Chinese out of the country.

Hey guys just popping my head in to say keep up the good fight I see everyday on Twitter! Don't get time to post anymore due to house reno's and still having to work for a living thanks to the corrupt Chinese/DRC fuckers.

Feel free to reach out if anyone needs to be called a fuckhead and you don't want to lower yourself to that level, I'm more than happy to!

Love ya's,

DD

The DRC and China have procedures capable of resolving problems

The Democratic Republic of Congo and China have “internal procedures capable of resolving problems,” said the Deputy Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday, during an exchange in Kinshasa, with a Chinese government delegation led by his representative. special for African Affairs.

“On the bilateral level, China has always honored its commitments with the DRC, because we have internal procedures in our cooperation which allow us at any time to resolve a problem if it arises.

"Procedures" = 💵 💰 💵 💰 💵

From this point of view, we are satisfied and we have a lot of hope for your country,” declared Christophe Lutundula, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“Bilaterally, the People's Republic of China has become our country's most important partner, particularly in the economic, social and financial fields as well.

You count on us a lot,” he added.

Christophe Lutundula called for the establishment of permanent consultation mechanisms between the two parties, Chinese and Congolese.

For his part, the special envoy of the Chinese government Liu Yuxi highlighted the mutual support that has always existed between his country and the DRC.

“China and the DRC have always supported each other and demonstrated mutual trust and our traditional friendship has continued to deepen and our pragmatic cooperation has brought abundant fruits, notably through the state visit that President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo performed in China last year,” he said.

“With President XI Jinping, they decided to enhance our global strategic cooperative partnership and this year President Tshisekedi was re-elected,” added Liu Yuxi.

He suggested that he came to the DRC for two following objectives: firstly about the next China-Africa summit which will be held in September and secondly for discussions on bilateral relations as well as the regional situation.

Ooh I’m loving how specific these original French tweets are getting - re naming members of the board of Cominiere etc. Seeing that really feels like traction is building from within the DRC which is exactly what we need. We can do as many English tweets as we like but the real power of change is going to come from them - they have the most to lose and the most to gain… Maybe the cogs are starting to turn!

Guys this is a real quick one I've knocked up in response the Frank's Media Congo share just now.

It's a bit light on substance but may be good to just chuck a grenade in the room while things are heating up. Just remember to add context with your surrounding blurb and hashtags.

I will save them in the Social Assets folder for those who miss them. Flench and Engrish versions available.

Hearing for Jin Cheng/Cominiere brought ICC case (27720/SP) today "after which the ICC tribunal will determine whether it is appropriate to bifurcate the proceedings".

You'd think that given Jin Cheng's other case was determined by ICC to not have recourse to arbitration (based on jurisdiction) that this would already be thrown out, but we still have to have a hearing to determine whether it's appropriate to have a future hearing on jurisdiction 🤯🐌

New government purportedly announced, no Adele, Antoinette or Rose - seems like a clean deck which no doubt will benefit avz (until these new guys get their snouts in the trough maybe).

Didn't you know? The delay was because the brown paper bags hadn't arrived yet.

Pokok,

Lets just see how things play out - there is no point speculating all we can do is wait for the ICSID and ICC to rule.

With the change in Government, I remain confident that the issues will come to a head and an agreement will be reached prior to the completion of ICSID and ICC.

As we know with Pakistan the ICSID have teeth.

I would like this sorted sooner than later but will support the Board in full if we have to follow this through to the end.

Regards,

SilentOne

The thing that really worries me about all this, is that while we are going to win all these cases (cos ya know......we actually did the right thing), are we actually going to end up with any money any time in our lifetimes?

The Pakistan case, while won, has not resulted in anything tangable as far as I am aware.

At least not according to my mate Chatty G:

"As of the latest available information, Tethyan Copper Company (TCC) has not yet received any payment from Pakistan in relation to the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) case. The ICSID tribunal awarded TCC $5.976 billion in damages after finding that Pakistan had unlawfully denied TCC a mining lease for the Reko Diq project, breaching fair and equitable treatment standards and committing unlawful expropriation (IISD) (Wikipedia).

While Pakistan has been engaged in negotiations with TCC to reach a settlement, these discussions are ongoing, and no payment has been made thus far. In 2022, Pakistan reached a preliminary out-of-court settlement with Barrick Gold, part of the TCC consortium, which included developing the Reko Diq project and setting aside the ICSID and London Court of Arbitration penalties, but details on the final execution of this settlement are still pending (MINING.COM).

At their current rate of progress, that doesn't give me hope that the government formation will be completed until July at the earliest. 😅
I stand corrected! 😳 👏🏼
