AVZ Discussion 2022

The DRC is fully in bed with the chinks , this is why AVZ need to sell if possible and move on , who the hell would want to develop a mine after all this underhanded BS .
Pokok,

Lets just see how things play out - there is no point speculating all we can do is wait for the ICSID and ICC to rule.

With the change in Government, I remain confident that the issues will come to a head and an agreement will be reached prior to the completion of ICSID and ICC.

As we know with Pakistan the ICSID have teeth.

I would like this sorted sooner than later but will support the Board in full if we have to follow this through to the end.

Regards,

The thing that really worries me about all this, is that while we are going to win all these cases (cos ya know......we actually did the right thing), are we actually going to end up with any money any time in our lifetimes?

The Pakistan case, while won, has not resulted in anything tangable as far as I am aware.

At least not according to my mate Chatty G:

"As of the latest available information, Tethyan Copper Company (TCC) has not yet received any payment from Pakistan in relation to the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) case. The ICSID tribunal awarded TCC $5.976 billion in damages after finding that Pakistan had unlawfully denied TCC a mining lease for the Reko Diq project, breaching fair and equitable treatment standards and committing unlawful expropriation (IISD) (Wikipedia).

While Pakistan has been engaged in negotiations with TCC to reach a settlement, these discussions are ongoing, and no payment has been made thus far. In 2022, Pakistan reached a preliminary out-of-court settlement with Barrick Gold, part of the TCC consortium, which included developing the Reko Diq project and setting aside the ICSID and London Court of Arbitration penalties, but details on the final execution of this settlement are still pending (MINING.COM).

Finally...finally, the DRC names its new government.

Kizito Pakabomba was appointed to oversee the mines ministry and Congo's globally significant reserves of coltan, copper and other minerals.

Cheers

At their current rate of progress, that doesn't give me hope that the government formation will be completed until July at the earliest. 😅
I stand corrected! 😳 👏🏼

Agree but for fuck sake give him a minute to absorb his selection and at least have a seat. Bloody Jens is spamming him within 5 minutes of his announcement.

There is such a thing as tact and decorum you know.

His last post was in 2020. It's more about awareness for the DRC citizens that will see the post to keep the pressure on their officials.

I am sure he is more than aware of the Manono situation already.

Is it shitting anyone else that this whole uproar over the congolese missing out on the $70 Million which was misapropriated, is from a sale of rights that was STOLEN from us! Dathcom mining and AVZ.

DRC dont seem to give a shit about the theft, but they want a cut from the proceeds of the sale of stolen goods.

Of course the uproar is helping us by shining a light on the foul stench of Cominiere and Zijin, but still... farrrrrrrrrrk!

Yes evidently they couldn't give a fuck as long as they get their share of snacks. It's been a running theme for those in the DRC. Corrupted from the ground up and vice versa. Their whole society is corruption based from the lowliest officials up and it's an aspiration for the common man.
This is why ICSID seems like the only solution imo.

If Felix gave a sh1t about ICSID we wouldn't be in this mess . It's not the Ministers that need to be changed . It's the President ,and he calls all the shots for the next 5 years .Sorry I meant to say China and Felix call all the shots for next 5 years .In that order.
Imo it's likely that none of them give a fuck because they won't be the ones paying for it. They all get to embezzle whatever they like while they are in power and it'll simply be a cost that the country endures which doesn't effect the stolen wealth of those in power.
