The royal viking getting a tweet from the ministere of mines DRC, surely that puts it to bed. All we need now is some Meeting minutes to confirm the news.

Fyi, Reading between the lines here and knowing AVZ is going to be a massive Cash Cow for the DRC and Felix moving forward if they play their cards right, why on Earth would they jeopardize it all by shooting themselves in the Foot atm, as

Once-forsaken copper country is back in the spotlight

Mining investors are stampeding back into a region many had seemed determined to leave.
blank.gif

Straddling the border of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, a vast forested area roughly the size of Portugal contains one of the world’s richest caches of minerals: copper for wires and cables, and cobalt for rechargeable batteries.

At the intersection of the two African nations, trucks queue for about 53 kilometers (33 miles) along a cratered road snaking past giant mounds of mining residue and villagers selling stacks of watermelons, most of them carrying metals vital to the global energy transition.

But despite the lucrative resources, western mining companies have for years put more effort into trying to get out of, than into, the central African copperbelt, increasingly frustrated by a litany of policy u-turns and cash grabs.

Suddenly that’s no longer the case.

Existing investors are doubling down, and others — like giant BHP Group — are sniffing around the region for the first time in years.

First Quantum Minerals finally approved a billion-dollar expansion in Zambia, while Barrick Gold Corp., which considered selling its Zambian mine and is an outspoken critic of the Congolese government, is hunting for new projects in both countries.

Anglo American announced a new joint venture in Zambia on Thursday.

What’s changed?

In Zambia, new President Hakainde Hichilema is going out of his way to woo investors and repair relations damaged by his predecessor.

He says he wants to triple copper output in the next decade, an ambitious target that would require $30 billion of investments, according to analysts at BMO Capital Markets.

More broadly, there’s a growing awareness that copper and cobalt are central to the world’s shift toward renewable energy, and security of supply will become crucial in the coming decades.

The global copper market is already tight and new mines are difficult to find.

In cobalt, Congo is so dominant that it’s impossible to ignore.

At the same time, other copper-rich countries like Peru and especially Chile — long viewed by the industry as a “safe” place to build — are looking less friendly.

“You can’t ask people to invest in your country without giving them comfort,” Barrick Chief Executive Officer Mark Bristow said in an interview.

“Money is a very panicky commodity and it runs away quickly from stress.”

While most US, European and Australian mining companies backed away from the copperbelt over the last decade — Glencore Plc is the one major exception that has invested heavily in two giant Congolese copper and cobalt mines — China’s resource giants have dug in.

That’s nowhere more apparent than the Congolese city of Kolwezi, which owes its very existence to mining — founded in the 1930s to exploit the giant mineral deposits.

On a drive through its main street today, the cultural influence is everywhere: billboards for Zijin cement sit on nearly every corner, while Chinese karaoke bars and casinos flank the road.

Now, other mining companies are again increasing their presence and activity.

In Congo, a new mine spearheaded by billionaire Robert Friedland is rapidly ramping up production under a plan that would make it the world’s third-largest producer by 2024.

BHP, the world’s biggest mining company, has held talks about buying into another of Friedland’s Congo copper projects that neighbors the new Kamoa-Kakula mine, Bloomberg reported last year.

The African copperbelt and its role in supplying critical minerals is also getting increased attention at a government level.

US Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez traveled this week to speak at the annual gathering of the continent’s mining industry in Cape Town, where critical mineral supply chains formed a central theme of his remarks.

His next stop: two days in the Zambian capital to meet with Hichilema.

“We think the mining sector in Africa has huge potential,” Fernandez said on a call with reporters.

“We also know that in the clean energy future, critical minerals will be an important part of the solution and that African nations have a lot of the critical minerals, be it cobalt, manganese, lithium, and others, a lot of the – a lot of the critical minerals that will be needed to power turbines, to power electric batteries.”

Zambia will need to attract as much as $180 million yearly in searching for and proving new reserves alone if it is to reach the government’s ambitious production targets, Sokwani Chilembo, chief executive at the country’s mines lobby group, said in an interview last week.

The increase in copper prices over the past few years is “the major tailwind,” he said.

“It really has given everyone’s ambitions a boost.”

The country is making a concerted effort across agencies and departments to provide an attractive environment for investors, Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane said in an interview in his Lusaka office on May 5.

The government sees copper as “the new oil” and wants to benefit from the growing demand for electrification in the way that oil-rich countries capitalized on energy booms, he said.

That means growing production levels.

“The oil of Zambia — namely copper — is going to bring the benefits that we’ve seen elsewhere,” Musokotwane said.

“Of course, it’s our responsibility that when this money comes through, it must be used properly.”

Anyone remember last week when at least 20 of you morally bankrupted bastards were considering jumping into bed with zijin for a good rogering at the first sign of trouble

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:🤣

Sorry, had to! lol

Things looking up 😘
Actually those posts, well certainly mine were looking at worst case scenario and clearly stated the preferred option was for Felix and friends to step in a chop heads off.

This was my way of saying (and reconciling what had happened) that all is not lost, and there is still a great opportunity for shareholders should AVZ have to acknowledge Z and in particularly for the avoidance of lengthy court cases. I sincerely hope the Inspector General's report is actioned by Felix and friends quickly resolving the situation and annulling illegal transactions and punishment for the parties concerned, thus saving AVZ having to fight these battles on its own.

At least the issues raised for AVZ should be easier to act on then other reports of illegal actions uncovered by the Inspector General concerning Gécamines, that shit is still going, yet those illegal actions span many years so no quick fix. https://www.rfi.fr/fr/afrique/20211...ations-sur-un-casse-à-530-millions-de-dollars

Hence I hope the Inspector General's report is complete with recommendations, and Felix and friends act on these recommendations immediately. Fingers crossed someone will publish a full copy of the report online soon, or this report is an addendum to one of AVZ's announcements in the near future :)

There's heaps of light at the end of the tunnel now for AVZ, and nothing would please me more to come out the other side of the tunnel with these matters being finalised with the assistance of DRC Gov etc. It would be unfortunate to come out of suspension with any pending legal action or even a sniff of uncertainly for the future (on all issues related to Z and Dathomir) as others have said, I would rather see AVZ in suspension until only blue skies above and not a dark cloud in sight !!

Cheers The Fox

This is the original tweet before it was deleted.

This account is @minminesCD. Created in January of this year. I believe the official one is @MinMinesDRC which was created in September? I am royally confused as to what's going on here. Has someone been trying to duplicate accounts since September in anticipation for when this shit storm begun?

alright this gets more confusing by the minute....you said that's the original account and youre showing that original account is saying 'yes those two accounts belong to the minister', so you are now ok with this all coming from the minister?
I am currently on my phone and there's too many screenshots on my phone from the last 24 hours, my bad.
As Jens explains in his last post, these 2 accounts are duplicates/fakes.
I would be very wary about anything at all that is posted on twitter, and we should all probably do what DEBOSS has been doing this whole time and sitting back with his feet up waiting for the AVZ official announcement on Friday.
Going to be a veryyyy long week.

I’m not sure if it’s the same for twitter but Facebook and Instagram at least have a little blue tick next to names if it is an official/verified account. The whole point of the blue tick is so you know it’s not a fake, neither of those accounts have one. Doesn’t necessarily mean they are fake just means they aren’t verified

So we have Joe and Franck and the official Ministry of mines accounts all saying they are real accounts, what do we have apart from one guy telling Jag theyre fake? just trying to get to the bottom of this, or is every single account fake, Franck, Joe and Ministry of mines, and the two Antoinette accounts...bloody confusing lol
It would be nice if the official ones had blue ticks as @discodanz says. But take a look at the 4 accounts below. To me, the 2 that are created after are not legitimate and actually follow more people than what follows them. The account that said the minister has 2 accounts was the @minminesCD. Also if you look at the official minister of mines website they have tweets on the side and it is showing the @minminesDRC.
IMO someone/a group are playing silly buggers and to have created these duplicates months ago seem to have put some planning and thought into it. Just be VERY careful believing anything on Twitter at the moment. Perhaps AVZ's official silence thus far actually speaks louder than all of these tweets.

Very interesting, indeed. To what end are these accounts used for?

To be fair, He does say, and later #EVs. 🚗

I believe anything is possible as the EV Revolution accelerates this decade tbo

Who knows what might happen in the scramble for Critical Minerals down the Track

Will we see a Tesla / EV's being built somewhere in Africa at some point, most likely imo

Food for thought 🔋
