ECC Pastors in turn call on Dr. Mukwege to run for President in 2023
The pastors of the Churches of Christ in Congo (ECC) are asking Professor Denis Mukwege to submit his candidacy for the supreme office of the DRC.
This was after a conference-debate organized by the Department of Medical Works (DOM) of the ECC, this Thursday, February 16, 2023 as part of its 2022 annual review.
On this occasion, they presented the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize winner with the flag of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a cane that can help him travel the country to preach peace and justice; but also the statuette of the DRC.
An act that deeply affects Dr. Denis Mukwege.
For him, this gesture motivates him even more to fight for the well-being of the Congolese population, which has suffered for a long time, and which by dint of suffering a lot, has developed the “Stockholm syndrome”.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner received a cane, but he would like to have a determined youth at his side, to push him to cross the mountains, valleys and cities of the DRC.
He calls on young people to a democratic revolution that can help the country move forward.
“I believe it is a heavy responsibility and I believe that I will not give up.
I have been fighting for peace and justice in this country for 20 years and I believe that what they have done strengthens me in my conviction and I would like that apart from the pastors who have spoken out, that you the youth you can also speak.
Since I see they gave me a cane, but I wish I had young starts and others who push me to climb mountains and cross valleys, ”says the famous Dr. Mukwege very confidently.
In this Conference, which had as its theme, “The contribution of the Church in the promotion of health in the DRC.
What about the fight for the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize", Professor Denis Mukwege explained the mission of the ECC with particular emphasis on the health care system that the latter has made available to the population for several decades. years already.
Denis Mukwege demonstrated that despite the efforts of the Church, the population remains suffering as a whole following the suffering it undergoes daily from the leaders and neighboring countries who plunder the wealth of the DRC by subjecting the population to an unacceptable life.
For him, the whole population has the "Stockholm syndrome" and it is time for the Congolese to realize that they are all sick and that they must seek a solution.
“It is for this reason that when we see the reactions of the Congolese population to their suffering, it is as if they are completely resigned and accept this suffering and they go even further, they applaud their oppressors.
I think that the only way to get out of this Stockholm syndrome is to first recognize that we are sick and that we are all sick, because what we accept is unacceptable, and if we recognize that we are sick, we have to enter the treatment process which allows us to have normal reactions” he indicates.
He takes this opportunity to call on the population for more organization and mobilization before he plans to submit his candidacy for the presidency of the country.
He asked the population to enlist massively.
It should be noted that this conference was attended by several pastors of the ECC Churches from several parts of the DRC, but also Christians from the city of Bukavu.
It took place at the basketball court of the Evangelical University in Africa (UEA) in the Panzi district, in the commune of Ibanda in South Kivu
