M23-DR Congo peace talks in Doha stalled: What next?
Both sides accuse the other of violating the terms of an earlier deal mediated by Qatar.www.aljazeera.com
How has Qatar reacted?
Majed al-Ansari, a spokesperson of the Qatar foreign ministry, while speaking to journalists on Tuesday, said that although timelines had been missed, there was still hope for the peace deal.
“The good thing is that both sides are engaging very positively,” he said. “We are engaging with them closely, and we are committed to the process, and I think the parties have shown a level of willingness to agree that was not there before.”
The spokesperson did not, however, give a new date for the signing of a peace deal.
Earlier, on Monday, Qatari officials revealed that they had shared a draft of the final deal with both sides to review.
My own opinion is, as much as I would like the money for my shares now, the slower route through arbitration has a number of advantages.
I’ll match Carrotdick’s offer…1cI hold just under a million shares. I have no doubt that if AVZ pursued ICSID to the end, we would win—and win big. In fact, I think AVZ has been far too conservative in the damages it’s seeking. That said, I don’t believe the DRC would ever respect the ruling or pay what’s owed.
If you disagree—if you’re convinced ICSID is the path to riches—I’m open to selling. Make me an offer for my shares. If you’re right, you’ll have the chance to turn that belief into a significant profit.
It is how the Felix mafia operates.
This is a realistic worry. Doesn't matter if there is a legal basis for it. One of our resident dickheads like Shane or Lenny stirs up a few people, organises a class action and our funds are going to be held up and drained by lawyers.1. I've seen talk of a potential class action lawsuit moving forward should a sale of AVZ be below the ATH share price. Is there any legal basis for this? If the company's sole asset is sold and funds distributed to shareholders, then litigation would be aimed at management for some kind of dereliction of responsibilities? If there are any shareholders here who bought in at a high price, is this a path you would pursue (I bought in early so I'm not interested in going this route)? Considering the unfathomable trials and tribulations that AVZ has been through over the past several years, would there really be any chance of winning?
I believe should we see out ICSID we will win and win a big time settlement. I also believe we will never ever see a cent of that settlement. I think it's incredibly naive to think ICSID is our way out of this.2. Amongst the exhaustive talk regarding a buyout price, some believe AVZ should stick to arbitration should an offer be "too low". If that were the case, do you guys/gals believe that we would actually see any return on our investments regardless of time frame? Thus far the DRC have ignored court rulings and it doesn't seem there have been any significant consequences yet. I'm aware of the longer reach of the ICSID, however, could the DRC simply work with China and, financially at least, come out in a similar or better situation?
I think it is fantasy to think the deposit will be stranded should we continue arbitration. The DRC has clearly shown it does not respect contract law, ICC, or ICSID. I predict no matter what happens to us, someone will be well underway to mining it by this time next year.3. Some feel that the deposit will be stranded should we continue arbitration and this is leverage for a higher buyout price. Based on what has happened to the northern tenement, what recourse would we have if the same thing happened in the south and the DRC did nothing about it?
I think certain shareholders are overly emotional given everything we've been through and looking for vengeance. And I certainly understand that. But I really don't care. It's not my fight. I just want my money so I can move on with my life.4. Again regarding the continued arbitration option, I've seen threats that should the AVZ case move forward, that corrupt actors in the DRC will be exposed. However, it sure seems that corruption is blatantly and shamefully obvious to the point of hilarity so this doesn't really seem like a convincing argument. Am I missing something?
The lesson of the pied piper you dumb fuck is to always pay people what they’re owedNot about winning the ARBITRATION matters is getting paid...!
Surely you UNDERSTAND what is really going on...!...imo
ENFORCEMENT is a good word...!
Nigel should have taken some big action, and removed MR G J of the board...imo
True words from a TRUE AVZ SH ...imo

What a load of shit. Why aren't they mining it now if the don't care about ICSID. It has been measured and proven for 4 years. This is a realistic worry. A few points of interest which I'm curious of other's opinions on. Apologies if these have been pointedly discussed, there's a lot to sift through to find information. To be clear, I have no agenda (I only have about 200,000 shares) and I'm just trying to fill in gaps in my understanding of the situation, paths forward, and potential outcomes.

TIA and here's hoping for a swift and rewarding resolution very soon!
They’re not mining it today because you don’t just roll up and start digging — you need infrastructure, financing, and logistics in place. That takes time. But the fact remains: KoBold has already signed an agreement with the DRC that clearly expresses their intent to mine the site. That alone shows how little the DRC cares about ICSID.What a load of shit. Why aren't they mining it now if the don't care about ICSID. It has been measured and proven for 4 years.
Before talking about the Omnibridge class action, I would start with investigating what that class action is all about.A few points of interest which I'm curious of other's opinions on. And just to be clear — even Zijin hasn’t started production in the north yet. They’re not slated to produce until 2026.
I stand by what I wrote: no matter what happens to us, by this time next year someone will be well underway to mining it. We’ve done all the planning for them — they just have to stroll in and start building.
Or hey, maybe you’re right and I’m talking shit. The DRC is a beacon of the rule of law, contracts are sacred, corruption doesn’t exist — and ICSID is the golden ticket that saves us all.
