Burlingame, CA – December 11, 2023– Quadric® today announced that representatives from the company will be at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, January 9-12, 2024. Email meetquadric@quadric.ioto set up a meeting to learn how a general-purpose neural processing unit (GPNPU) solves the challenge of needing to artificially partition code between an NPU and a digital signal processor (DSP) and/or central processing unit (CPU).

“Because it’s fully programmable, our GPNPU runs all types of machine learning networks, including classical backbones, vision transformers, and large language models,” stated Steve Roddy, Quadric’s Chief Marketing Officer. “One architecture for ML inference plus pre-and-post processing greatly simplifies SoC hardware design and software programming. Porting new artificial intelligence (AI) and ML code is quick and efficient. No hardware changes are required, which means no silicon re-spins are required.”

Quadric’s processor architecture uniquely combines the best attributes of C++ programmability – the ability to run any ML model – with the performance efficiency of NPU accelerators found in many first-generation SoCs in the market today. But unlike inflexible accelerators that force silicon respins when complex new models such as Llama2 are invented, Chimera cores are fully programmable. Chimera GPNPUs run any model. All of the model – all of the layers. No removal of problematic layers. No partitioning. No forcing the data scientist to convert convolutions to adhere to the limited subset of conv types supported in hardware. Any model, any network, any operator.

A brief overview/list of upcoming events in which Brainchip is participating. Based on the descriptions of the events (screenshots follow in the text), the second generation (enhanced features) will be presented at the end of April. The Edge Box will appear for the first time at the end of May.

First question:
Does this mean that we will have completed initial production of the second generation by then (end of April)?

Second question:
This is still too short a time for the second generation to be used in the Edge Box, right?

1.) CES 2024 – Jan. 9-12, 2024 (Las Vegas)

2.) IFS Direct Connect 2024 – February 21, 2024 (San Jose)

3.) Embedded World Conference – April 9-11, 2024 (Nuremberg)

4.) tinyML Summit – April 22-24, 2024 (San Francisco)

  • Quote: BrainChip will be presenting 2nd-generation Akida’s enhanced features including an expanded capacity to learn efficiently at extremely small form factors.
    • Comment: Is this the first (physical) presentation of the second generation?

5.) Embedded Vision Summit – May 21-23, 2024 (Santa Clara, CA)
  • Quote: You can count on BrainChip to provide demos of our hyper-efficient, highly accurate Akida v2 Vision Transformers (ViTs) and other advanced 2nd-generation Akida technology.
    • Comment: BrainChip, I count on you!

6.) Hardware Pioneers MAX24 – May 28-29, 2024 (London)
  • Quote: We’ll be presenting our recent advancements with 2nd Generation Akida
  • Quote: We also look forward to demonstrating our new Edge Box…
    • Comment: Presales start in January. The first batch appears to have been produced by May at the latest.

Hi Pom
Don’t you remember that after Teksun was announced TSEx members while searching Teksun’s website came across their partner page where Brainchip appeared and in the narrative Teksun claimed Brainchip was partnered with Cisco, Toshiba and a third company starting with ‘N’ that I cannot recall just now.

This led to a flurry of emails to Tony Dawe and a ‘what the’ reply and shortly after Teksun amended it to Mercedes Benz, ARM, Renesas.

Brainchip never denied they were partnered with Cisco, Toshiba & ‘N’. In fact they acted completely mute on the question.

This led to some claiming Teksun had used CHATGpt to draft the entry.

Anyway I suppose some of us at TSEx actually follow their investments more closely than some at HC.

My opinion only DYOR

Linaro is worth checking out.

The members list is impressive with Samsung, Google, Microsoft, Qualcomm, ARM, etc.

To be honest mate, I’ve been invited too and attended a couple of these meets, and had an invite to the last which I never attended. It isn’t like you describe at all. Nothing below deck is discussed, and the Brainchip guys are very careful about what they say. It’s more about technical questions than anything else.
