Yep, if this were BHP or FMG this would be front page worldwide news. Considering the size of the resource the ingoing tax revenue from CGT etc would be massive for the Australian government. Just another perplexing facet of this nightmare. Maybe a full scale group shareholder email to our trade minister is in order.

This is massive interference if so. Tshisekedi must have received a sweetener, there’s no way $100mil USD is passed around and he doesn’t get a look.

I agree. Au Gov will just put out the hand if you make a profit. Take from everyone and just waste the cash on anything at all. It's a horrible feeling to be raped by the Government.

Yeah those are the rumoured extra payments I referred to yesterday. I'm yet to see any details or proof of these occurring but Kiki must be fairly confident to print it even if they are just allegations.
I don't think the claims by Zijin and Cominiere are based on a potential sale by AVZ. Management said in the announcement that they have no idea how they came to that amount as nothing about workings was included in the request. But it is possible.
Maybe the gringos have finally realised they need Manono to beat China and have made Felix an offer he can't refuse. Maybe Zijin and Cominiere are just trying to delay things as much as possible to make AVZ look bad in the eyes of the 'competent DRC authorities'.
