Translated from French by #RDC :

Successful baptism of fire for the young governor of Tanganyika,
@ChrisKitungwa

Elected head of Tanganyika last April at not even 37 years old, Christian Kitungwa Muteba welcomed this week in his province President Félix Tshisekedi, the entire government and all the governors of the country, transforming for a few days Kalemie, its capital, into the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This week, the capital of Tanganyika, a province located in the southeast of the DRC and resulting from the dismemberment of the former Katanga, replaced Kinshasa. "For a few days, Kalemie will be the capital of the DRC," assured Governor Christian Kitungwa on his X account. He was not mistaken. This Tuesday, November 26, Félix Tshisekedi landed on the tarmac of the former Alberville airport. A very warm handshake with Christian Kitungwa, accompanied for the occasion by his wife.

The Head of State comes to chair the 11th session of the Conference of Governors. And it is Tanganyika that was chosen for the occasion. This will not be, far from it, the only event of the week. Because on the ground, the agenda is busy. Very busy even. Wednesday, Félix Tshisekedi launches the work of the 11th session of the conference of governors. The next day, in his capacity as supreme commander of the armed forces, he chairs an expanded security council. The subject is one of the major concerns locally due to the presence of several armed groups (Twa-Bantu, Maï-Maï, etc.). The following day, Friday, the entire government met in Kalemie for a decentralized council of ministers. Not so common in the DRC. To prove itself worthy, the former Albertville has had a makeover. The streets are spick and span. Not a single piece of paper is lying around.

The very dynamic governor of the province, Christian Kitungwa Muteba, has personally ensured this. Because, as he knows, even if he is not a complete novice in politics, this is a bit of his entry into the deep end. His baptism of fire.

Last April, at not yet 37 years old,
Christian Kitungwa Muteba, is a member of the AB platform, the political grouping of Guy Loando and Sama Lukonde, succeeded Julie Ngungwa of the UDPS as head of the province, winning the governorship election by a wide margin by 17 votes out of a possible 25.

A few months earlier, in December 2023, during the national legislative elections, he had been acclaimed as Deputy by the voters of his constituency of Kalemie. Since officially taking office in July 2024, Christian Kitungwa, one of whose great qualities is knowing how to surround himself well, has not been idle.

Among other things, he has adopted a five-year development plan worth nearly $700 million, formed his provincial government and set his major priorities, including security, infrastructure and employment.

To create activity in his province, Christian Kitungua spares no effort. Strengthening relations with countries in the region: Tanzania, Zambia or Burundi. Promoting his province internationally as in this month of October, during a mission to France during which he increased contacts with potential investors. Etc.

Although Tanganyika is less well-endowed than the neighboring provinces of Lualaba and Haut-Katanga, it has many assets to put forward. Christian Kitungwa never misses an opportunity to point this out.

"We have everything in Tanganyika, mines, because we are the world capital of lithium; but also enormous agricultural and fish farming potential as well as in clean energy, whether hydraulic, solar or wind," he insists. And he adds: "Tanganyika is a gateway to other provinces in the DRC. But it is also access to a vast regional and international market thanks to the opening onto the Indian Ocean." The port of Kigoma in Tanzania is admittedly only 125 km away.

DRC: The largest Swiss bank blocks the funds of the Tshisekedi family, estimated at $8 billion, but experts suspect that part of the fortune is in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates

By JeN-LUC KIENGE

In a financial stunt that is shaking the banking and political circles, the largest Swiss bank, UBS, confirmed that it has frozen funds belonging to the Tshisekedi family, estimated at nearly $8 billion. This decision is part of an international investigation into allegations of money laundering and embezzlement of public funds. However, according to several financial experts, a substantial part of the Tshisekedi family's fortune could be hidden in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, countries known for their financial opacity.

A fortune under surveillance

The Tshisekedi family, whose patriarch, Étienne Tshisekedi, was an emblematic figure of the opposition in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is now in the spotlight. Félix Tshisekedi, his son, is the current president of the DRC, and this revelation could have major political repercussions. The funds blocked in Switzerland are suspected of being linked to opaque transactions and embezzlement of natural resources, especially in the mining sector, which represents a significant part of the Congolese economy.
UBS, in collaboration with the Swiss judicial authorities, justified this measure with "substantial evidence" of suspicious financial movements. "We have a legal obligation to ensure that our banking system is not used for illegal purposes," said a bank spokesman. However, the exact details of the investigation remain confidential.

A fortune scattered internationally

If the $8 billion frozen in Switzerland represent a colossal sum, several international finance experts believe that this fortune would only be the tip of the iceberg. According to sources close to the file, a significant part of the assets of the Tshisekedi family is hidden in offshore accounts in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, two countries renowned for their banking discretion and attractiveness for controversial fortunes.

“Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are hubs for opaque capital. Their financial system is designed to attract foreign investment, often without asking too many questions," explains a London-based financial analyst, on condition of anonymity. “It is very likely that additional billions will be hidden in investment funds or shell companies in these countries.”

Political and economic implications

This case could have major consequences for Félix Tshisekedi, whose presidency is already marked by economic and political challenges. The DRC, one of the richest countries in natural resources in the world, paradoxically remains one of the poorest, with a large part of its population living in extreme poverty. Allegations of embezzlement of public funds by the presidential family risk fueling popular discontent and fueling political tensions.
At the international level, this case also highlights the persistent challenges of the fight against corruption and money laundering. Despite increased efforts to strengthen financial transparency, countries such as Qatar and the United Arab Emirates continue to offer safe havens for illicit fortunes.

An ongoing investigation

The Swiss authorities, in coordination with Interpol and other international organizations, indicated that the investigation was underway and that requests for mutual legal assistance had been sent to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. However, it is unlikely that these countries will cooperate quickly, given their reluctance to share sensitive financial information.

In the meantime, the Tshisekedi family denies any involvement in illegal activities. In a statement released by their lawyers, they described these allegations as a "defamation campaign" aimed at discrediting the president and his family.

Conclusion

This case once again illustrates the complexities of international finance and the difficulties in tracking down hidden fortunes. While Switzerland has taken measures to block some of the assets of the Tshisekedi family, the question remains: where is the rest of this colossal fortune? The answer could well be found in the sands of the Qatari and Emirati desert, where financial opacity remains queen.

So could one ASSUME, you are trying to say how did AVZ and NIGEL do a deal with FELIX..??
Just confused with this post ,Avz is trying to get a M L from the DRC...!!!

Nigel didn’t do a deal with Tshisekedi. What Nigel did was fulfill all obligations required to legally obtain the Mining Decree and Mining License

That was before Celestin Kibeya and Cominiere’s BOD took bribes from Zijin, then illegally violated AVZ’s FROR and sold 15% of Dathcom to Jin Cheng at $120million below value.

That 15% sale resulted in money disappearing, going to Kibeya and Lisette Kabanga and the illegal dissolution of Dathcom

Now KoBold and the US are negotiation a deal which involves granting the ML and access to minerals in return for protection against Rwanda and the M23

In case you are still pretending not to know the legalities of the situation, we have been winning in the ICC and ICSID and Cominiere already owe us over $40million for their illegal violations

As usual you’re wasting everyone’s time, thanks for posting so now I know I can put you on ‘ignore’. I didn’t know you were still here, I thought you’d been flushed

BTW, top ‘Reaction score’ you’ve got there 🤣

I started posting alternate threads to store information and later started using them to link the info to my twitter posts. I don’t care if no one reads them or likes them and I don’t like anyone posting on them but they do

I reported that troll so many times with no effect and over the last three years I was probably threatened by the mods here more than anyone

I’ve moved on from the trolls and just about everything else. The hard work happened when defending the BOD and our legal stance was more important than anything else. Back when the mining decree revoked the north right through until the litigation funding was confirmed

It was sickening to see the shareholders who turned on Nigel and the BOD with constant whinging and negative comments when we were being attacked by boatman, omni bridgeway, deeland, tommy and zijin’s multiple media attacks, fat stooges, liars and other stooges

Just imagine if fat tail had actually been elected to the BOD because weak minded and weak willed shareholders with no idea how to actually protect our investments actually swayed enough shareholders in rolling the BOD. You can say that wouldn’t have happened, but I could tell you some names you wouldn’t believe who spoke privately about getting rid of Nigel

Now I read comments by shareholders who whinged about Nigel and the BOD and have now turned coat again and now backing what the BOD has done

That’s one reason I stick to my threads and not bothering posting anymore, the other reason is since we got the money for litigation I’m trusting Nigel and DLA to get us through, but I’m under no illusion the fat idiot in the DRC can’t be trusted

I remember everything @cruiser51 including private conversations with you, your comments calling me davey boy, and a whole lot of other bs I’m not interested in remembering

Once the money’s in the bank all the threads by me and bags will be removed from tse so you won’t have to worry about that troll’s name being there

I do remember you requesting me to delete a fair few of posts, because of your legal problems, and after you came back and requested to delete more, which I did.

Nice to know, what you are all about, now you finally show your colours. You must have a lot of friends.

In future you are waisting your time to ask me anything again.

Don't waste your time answering, I do not forget easy.

You are fucking special alright.

Actually, please don't remove the threads - they are an incredibly useful resource and record and I for one am extremely thankful for them! If ever the book, movie, Netflix series, podcast is made they will be exceptionally useful record. Plus they record for eternity the shenanigans that those who shalll not be named have undertaken.
