BRN Discussion Ongoing

Just returned to the nation's capital after the AGM and catching up. Lots of good commentary and feel about the meeting. It was great to meet some people at the AGM and I was also fortunate to meet more at about three bars/pubs during the afternoon. Just goes to show that a pub crawl at The Rocks is an excellent idea. Even my wife, who was more interested in historical tours and shopping, got to meet a few people. It struck me that there wouldn't have been one person at the AGM who wasn't a 1000 eyes.

Much of this has been covered but a couple of takeaways for me from presentations and later discussions were:
1. Antonio very impressive and highly commercial focus. One of the company members said to me that there may be nobody in the world who has done as many semi-conductor deals as Antonio. Might not be strictly accurate but the sense of it made me go WOW. He is a very available Chair and very active with the company. Serious value-add here.
2. Intent is to go up to 4 independent directors this year and five thereafter (so not all additional). This is what the increase in director remuneration pool, was about.
3. Sean's environment diagram and explanations reinforced for me the feel we have had for several months - that the words ubiquitous and all-pervading truly reflect where the company is pushing. We may not see many "BRN is in the new i-phone" announcements because our IP has been picked up and integrated three steps earlier.
4. There was a very clear message that we are not going to be producing chips. Sean said there would be reference chips produced but not called/considered Akida 2000 because we are an IP company not a chip company. The next reference chip would be produced before the next AGM.
5. Renesas was on board first and is great - but Megachips really know their stuff and may be moving faster.
6. The prices for the last two LDA calls were at $1.5972 and $1.4665. Noice. Very noice.
7. The Board-approved Operating Plan for the company has an increase of staffing by about 40% this year (I think we knew it was heading to about 100 but confirmed in the context of the Op Plan). These will be mainly Sales, Marketing and Engineers (pity not accountants and money counters...lol).
8. PVDM I think said "aggressively" pursuing patents and will do 50 this year across jurisdictions.
9. My take is that the Directors are confident. Constantly scanning, constantly refocussing, constantly pushing - but confident - and because I'm a "feel" person without great detail in the tech then this made me leave with an assurance of where I've invested.
10. NVISO demo was great. Thanks to legend Jesse for organising that. When asked what we were interested in I said I wanted to see the green flashing thing....and...there it was! Sooo exciting.

Baaa baaa baaa, baaa ba Ballista.

Excellent recap and opinions. Thank you.

These points I'm about to make, may have already been raised, as I don't read as many posts as I used to a number
of years ago, please don't take offence, as there's many great posters on this site and all have merit.

Sean, Antonio and Jerome are all driving our company towards a higher plain, this professional combination
will open up many doors over the next 12 months, build business relationships, renew old connections, and at the same
time keep Peter and Anil on their toes, good job they both have extremely disciplined work ethics !

Sean raised a number of key points that all shareholders need to absorb, they are:

Keeping in close contact with clients so that we are ready to pounce when we are aware that they are about
to enter a new "design cycle", that's when the proposals are ready to be presented.
Lou always mentioned this fact, that is, intersecting a company at the right time in their "design cycle", which could
mean a number of years, not months.

The initial license fee is a large investment for any company, but the cream on the top was really the royalty
stream that follows, once a product is in the market place, well, we sit back and let the good times roll !
The basic example was license fee $1.00 royalty fee could be $3.00, $4.00, maybe even $5.00.

BUT....it can take a company 1, 2 or even 3 years to bring their product/s to market.

So the point of all this information is that, REVENUE won't magically appear in 6/12 months, it's all linked to
the size of the companies concerned, the complexity of the design, and THEIR design cycles, yes revenue is
on the immediate horizon, but try to keep things realistic as each quarter unfolds.

Despite what Antonio said at the AGM with regards a potential listing on the Nasdaq, the Board did hold meetings
prior to his inclusion, on said Board....the day will come and I'm sticking with 2025, purely my own view.

Good evening....Tech 😴

Great post Tech.

I would like to elaborate on the time taken to bring a product to market though. Whilst I completely agree with your timeframe, I would like to point out that the timeframe could have commenced in 2020. The EAP saw a couple of dozen or so ”Tier 1” companies pay $50k or whatever it was to work Brainchip to effectively test Akida in their applications. Now as subjective as it is, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that some of this testing would have occurred in real world products, Mercedes being a good example. If this were the case, I think theres potential for these companies to be further along in their journey to the commercialisation of these products that if they were to commence R&D say tomorrow. Obviously they will wait until the last possible moment to sign with Brainchip, as this will defer payment longer. The EAP has given these companies a fantastic opportunity to implement Akida, test, and prep for market, without having to provide further progress payments along the way. I think it’s possible that Akida could hit the shelves in some form sooner than later.

'Imagine a pedestrian sprinting across the middle of a street at night, unaware of an incoming vehicle approaching from 50m away. A Lidar sensor, mounted on a lamp post, detects the pedestrian and immediately sends an alert to the driver and activates roadside signage with ‘Pedestrian Detected’ warning. Or imagine a bicyclist turning right at an intersection just as an autonomous shuttle approaches the same corner. Nissan previews ‘ground truth perception’ ADAS capabilities

mm
By LAWRENCE BUTCHER April 25, 2022No Comments

Nissan has released details of its latest driver-assistance technology, which it says uses highly accurate, real-time information about a vehicle’s surrounding environment to dramatically enhance collision avoidance.
The ground truth perception technology, currently in development, fuses information from next-generation high-performance lidar, radar and cameras. The technology can detect the shape and distance of objects, as well as the structure of the area surrounding the vehicle, in real time with a high degree of accuracy.
Using this information, Nissan says it is possible for the vehicle to instantly analyze the current situation, judge and automatically perform required collision-avoidance operations. This technology can also detect slowed traffic and road obstacles in the distance and execute lane changes accordingly. Importantly, the technology can also provide increased support to drivers in areas where detailed map information is not available.
Takao Asami, senior vice president, leading global research and development, commented, “Nissan has been the first to market a number of advanced driver assistance technologies. When we look at the future of autonomous driving, we believe that it is of utmost importance for owners to feel highly confident in the safety of their vehicle. We are confident that our in-development ground truth perception technology will make a significant contribution to owner confidence, reduced traffic accidents and autonomous driving in the future.”
Nissan has partnered with a number of companies to research and develop the technology and share know-how; for example, the next-generation lidar is being integrated in collaboration with Luminar. In the area of advanced collision avoidance control it is critical to develop highly accurate verification technology in a digital environment. To this end, Nissan is teaming up with Applied Intuition.
In this video, Nissan experts explain the company’s latest developments in driver-assistance technology:

I do think that this stands to be one of our first direct forms of revenue to come.

Product is ready for the consumer with cash in hand let's hope. But yes I'd really like to see the revenue start to accumulate. Like a child waiting for Santa to arrive.

The messaging from BRN has been that we are expecting explosive growth at the back end of 22 and watch the quarterly statements to confirm.

This would play into your opinion and supported by most I would of thought.

The research that people on this forum have put in has shined a light imo on our potential and known partners just waiting in the background before it explodes. Look no further than FF list and the iceberg to get a sense of that.

We also know the company has transformed recently and has a clear go to market strategy that requires NDA that protect both parties which can be frustrating when we are so eager for our research to be confirmed but that's the business, no leaks by brn but happy for our clients to take the glory.

As has been mentioned we need to be their at the start of new production cycles and that takes time before it can hit the market as we have seen with Mercedes.

I have been invested in this company for a long time now. I believe in the technology and it's potential to truly disrupt our generation and generations to come. I also believe that our offer could truly become the "gold standard" in neuromorphic computing.

It seems not that long ago that our dots and clues consisted of a faint aroma as you enter a room, a partially formed impression in wet sand or a tiny bone fragment buried deep in the soil.

Fast forward to today, and we now have the equivalent of a police identikit, security cam footage of of a person who just happens to be looking away so you just can't make out their face and enough DNA evidence to run a season of NCIS.

Our collective belief in this little company appears to be barreling along to its fruition. It's exciting and a little scary so hang on tight.

A sincere good luck to all holders.

Note to self, stop eating so much cheese before bed.

How Qualcomm Technologies is unlocking the power of machine learning [video]

Meet the researchers bringing AI to the connected intelligent edge.
APR 5, 2022
Qualcomm products mentioned within this post are offered by Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and/or its subsidiaries.

Qualcomm-image

Since its founding in 2018, Qualcomm AI Research has developed into a vital resource for the industry, impacting virtually every technology vertical, from wireless to automotive, XR, IoT (Internet of Things), and mobile. Our ever-growing team is based in San Diego, Amsterdam, Seoul, and Markham. I’ve had the pleasure to lead this initiative from the beginning. Even though the scope of our work has scaled, our culture has remained guided by purposeful innovation, passionate execution, and openness. These values ring true across the company.

Purposeful innovation

Our researchers are working on a wide range of topics, spanning from visionary fundamental research to applied research that solves specific challenges in the market today. Virtually every technology can be optimized with machine learning, which is why we are helping to make AI ubiquitous.

Qualcomm-image

Click to see a larger image.

With the breadth of topics that our team is working on, it’s important to take a system approach to full-stack AI optimization and leverage the expertise in power efficiency Qualcomm Technologies has built over the years. We’ve asked the researchers what they are most excited to be working on and how they see the future of their work. This is how they replied:

Passionate execution

AI research does not happen in silos but is the result of work being done across teams. Finding the right balance of skills and personalities to produce innovation is key. By bringing together hardware and software experts, researchers, and engineers, the work can enable commercialization at scale. Our team has access to the latest in scientific developments and hardware to work on. The open-door policy means that employees can reach out to each other openly across seniority levels and departments, allowing ideas to be exchanged smoothly. Crucially, researchers are given autonomy around the areas of research they are pursuing. Here’s what our team has to say about successful collaborations in AI research:

Openness

We publish papers every year at top scientific conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, and CVPR. Our team has also published the code for some of their innovative published papers, so that other researchers can replicate the results and build on top of it. This past year Qualcomm AI Research has grown in expertise with the acquisition of TwentyBN and Reservoir Labs. We are proud to be able to relaunch the TwentyBN computer vision datasets Jester and Something Something under the Qualcomm Developer Network umbrella. The contribution to the machine learning community does not end there. This past year we have also been hard at work on releasing new and improved versions of the AI Model Efficiency Toolkit (AIMET) and recently released an AIMET whitepaperdescribing the quantization techniques that developers can use to successfully implement on-device AI. The work of developers and researchers is also made easier with the AIMET Model Zoo, a collection of pre-trained models and recipes for quantizing 32-bit floating point models to 8-bit integers with little loss in accuracy. Here is what our team has to say about how they see their contribution to the wider AI community:

The benefits of on-device AI

At Qualcomm AI Research, we are inventing, developing, and enabling the commercialization of power-efficient AI. These technologies are becoming increasingly accessible thanks to Qualcomm Technologies, enabling on-device AI with enhanced privacy, lower latency, and lower cost. Having compact neural network models and efficient silicon means technology can take on more tasks successfully from humans, so that they can focus on the things that matter to them. Our AI research team is central in making this possible. And we are hiring:
