I am guessing that AKIDA is not associated with this drive pilot yet as they have only just been released in the concept car.Markus Schäfer from Mercedes Benz just posted this on LinkedIn regarding DRIVE PILOT

Time is a valuable and precious asset – and with DRIVE PILOT, our Level 3 conditionally automated driving system, we plan to offer our clients this new level of luxury enabled by technology: additional time while driving. In December 2021, I told you about the ground-breaking news that we at Mercedes-Benz AG are the first automotive manufacturer in the world to receive the world's first internationally valid system approval for conditionally automated driving (SAE Level 3).
As a first step, we’re offering this world-leading technology to our customers in Germany in the first half of 2022. Moreover, we’re working intensively to obtain approval from the authorities for the two U.S. states of California and Nevada by the end of this year – assuming the legal and regulatory framework allows for the use of the system.
We’re super happy that our DRIVE PILOT meets the demanding regulatory equirements of the international UN-R157 for a Level 3 system enabling conditionally automated driving. Together with the corresponding legal framework, it initiates a radical paradigm shift that permits the vehicle to take over the driving task under certain conditions. This ultimate luxury experience enables our customers to win back precious time when in the car through relaxation or productivity. For instance, they can communicate via in-car office tools, browse the internet or sit back and relax. We’re very confident and extremely excited to bring this new level of luxury to the customers in the states soon.
Want to know more about our technology?
Our DRIVE PILOT builds on the surround sensors of the Driving Assistance Package and comprises additional sensors that we consider indispensable for safe, conditionally automated driving. These include LiDAR and a camera in the rear window along with microphones, used for detecting signals from emergency vehicles. There is also a wetness sensor at the wheel as well. Our #SClass with the optional DRIVE PILOT also has redundant steering and braking systems as well as a redundant on-board electrical system.
The top priority for us at Mercedes-Benz when introducing such a system is safety, which includes high demands on operational reliability. The exact location of the S-Class is determined using a highly accurate positioning system. This is much more powerful than a conventional GPS. In addition, data obtained from satellite navigation are matched with sensor data and data from an HD map. The type of data collected by LiDAR, camera, radar and ultrasonic sensors can include information on road geometry, route characteristics, landmarks or traffic signs.
For us as a pioneer in #safety #technology, avoiding or safely managing critical situations on the road to protect both vehicle occupants and other road users continues to be our core brand value. So I’m looking forward to ever-decreasing accidents in the future.

The thing I worry about, if I worry at all about my investment in Brainchip, is that I am an older investor and like Warren Buffet suspicious of technology as I did not grow up with it and unlike my children still have trouble with many aspects. For the life of me I cannot reset the clock on our Bosch oven after a blackout but my son-in-law does it while talking about something unrelated in seconds.Aleks Vicko”bitch”![]()
Sick em Tiger.....Zac, the author, didn't list us as an active contributer in this market. He will be aware now, following a very polite email sent to him.
I have just spent a little time on IonQ's web site which is very pretty and easy to use sort of and at rough guess if Brainchip can produce & sell their chip for $25.00 and Intel can produce and maybe sell Loihi 1 for $80 to $120 I am thinking that IonQ will be a tad more expensive just taking into account these following two extracted points:@Fact Finder Thought you might find this particularly interesting too...............IonQ have solid links to DARPA btw

hi dippY, the host says a "predicted TAM of about 60 billion"and Rob corrects him to say "70 billion as of yesterday".The excerpted paragraph below is from the written topic description beneath the podcast start arrow. I think it is incorrect. It implies that 60 billion is what Brainchips market value will be in 2025 when I think it should have said the edge compute total addressable market will be 60 billion. Thoughts?
...from the podcast description,.....
"BrainChip is publicly traded on the Australian Stock Exchange, and the OTC Market, and was named among the ‘EE Times’ Silicon 100’ list. Within a year, BrainChip’s market cap also grew from just below $200m to nearly $1 billion+ at present. BrainChip also predicts it’ll be worth $60 billion by 2025! "
The confusion comes from the notes below the recording.hi dippY, the host says a "predicted TAM of about 60 billion"and Rob corrects him to say "70 billion as of yesterday".
TAM is the total addressable market, not the market cap of BrainChip.
Exactly. It’s hard not to be inspired by the infectious enthusiasm in this podcast. The host was truly astounded by the global impact Akida would make on so many facets of our day to day lives.
To my son, 23 years old, and all other young folk reading this … IMHO, and this is not financial advice, if there was ever a company to buy and hold for 5 years … then this is it. Ignore the daily SP gyrations , and trust me, 5 years will flash by. The technology is proven, being tested and used by multiple vendors, a strong runway of technology improvements, competition fumbling away in the background, sales from 12 years R&D investment starting to flow as the addressable market grows towards 100B, an incredible team in place … etc. etc.
I did say the podcast resulted in infectious enthusiasm!!
Nice way to start a long weekend.
yes agreedThe confusion comes from the notes below the recording.
That's why I think it's so odd that Hyundai, of all companies has engaged them.....very peculiar.I have just spent a little time on IonQ's web site which is very pretty and easy to use sort of and at rough guess if Brainchip can produce & sell their chip for $25.00 and Intel can produce and maybe sell Loihi 1 for $80 to $120 I am thinking that IonQ will be a tad more expensive just taking into account these following two extracted points:
"Approaching Zero
Using Doppler Cooling, we can create qubits that are half of one one-thousandth of a degree above absolute zero, without needing to refrigerate any of the supporting hardware. This is extremely cold, but for optimal performance, we need to go colder, as close to absolute zero as we can. To accomplish this, we use a collection of laser-based techniques called resolved-sideband cooling to produce qubits so cold that they are almost perfectly still at an atomic level.
Putting it all together
Once everything's in the chamber, the whole assembly goes in an even larger enclosure with a variety of electrical, mechanical, and optical control systems.
Then, it all gets hooked to a classical computer running our custom control software, and after a great deal of calibration, it's a fully functioning quantum computer, ready to perform gates and run algorithms with world-leading fidelity."
There are quite a few other steps that you can read all about on their website but just from the above you will get a flavour of what they are doing and that it seems clear they are unlikely to play in Brainchip's space at the sensor this century.
The other thing that does not get a jersey is the amount of power it consumes but to my lay eye it does seem like it might us quite a few watts just in remaining stable before it even starts to compute as it requires constant adjustment to remain in state. Very clever stuff but???
My opinion only DYOR
