BRN Discussion Ongoing

Hi FF,

This is the latest published application by KANAGASINGAM YOGENSAN:

WO2020160606A1 DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING FOR DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

Applicants COMMW SCIENT IND RES ORG [AU]

Inventors SAHA SAJIB [AU]; XIAO DI [AU]; KANAGASINGAM YOGENSAN [AU]

Computer system [46] Fig. 1 illustrates a computer system 100 for diagnostic imaging. The computer system 100 comprises a processor 102 connected to program memory 104, data memory 106, a communication port 108 and a user port 110. The user port 110 is connected to a display device 112 that shows data, such as report with a numeric pathology score or a predictive change map 114 to patient 116. The program memory 104 is a non-transitory computer readable medium, such as a hard drive, a solid state disk or CD-ROM. Software, that is, an executable program stored on program memory 104 causes the processor 102 to perform the method in Fig. 2, that is, processor 102 retrieves at least two images captured by a retina camera 118, such as Nidek AFC- 210, over time, aligns the images and calculates a pathology score based on pathologic features in the images.

Compares retinal snapshots taken over time.

No reference to AI or NN.

Looks like the star map overlay technique that astronomers use to pick out changes in a section of the night sky.

Of course, Akida could spot the changes with its eyes closed.

There could be further applications in the 18 month pipeline.
It’s been said before but it’s worth repeating, “You’re a Fn LEGEND Diogenes!”

I love your honest straight shooting super intelligent contributions to this forum; not to mention your hilarious dry one liners.

Your outstanding knowledge, and the way you explain the subject matter I think you should be “Professor Diogenes.”

Very much appreciated!

Thank you.

I like the name on title of this article, but not sure this is it, 2017 vintage ?

Hi supersonic001,

I think you're on the right track.

From your article:

Getting smart: the AI software that taught itself

Over in Perth, our researchers have just finished trialling a world-first, artificial intelligence-driven technology that enables GPs to scan people for diabetic retinopathy themselves.

Affectionately dubbed ‘Dr Grader’, the software learned by analysing ophthalmologists’ grading data, improving its ability to detect various signs of the condition.

It was recently trialled at the GP Superclinic @ Midland Railway Workshops. GPs scanned 187 diabetic patients’ retinas, and the high resolution images were then analysed by both our grading software and a real-life ophthalmologist for signs of the condition.

Our research director, Professor Yogi Kanagasingam, said the results speak for themselves: the technology detected signs of DR as effectively as the ophthalmologist.

Professor Yogi Kanagasingam is the inventor of the patent application I just retrieved. They were using AI software then. The patent application dates from 2019 and still does not mention NNs.

So they've had a couple of years to get to know about Akida.

I sent the link to Tony Dawe and he came back about 20 minutes ago to say thanks and will follow up on it.

I have stolen this link from the DELL thread. It was posted by Perhaps from Germany:

Excellent guess Fact Finder.

Looks like the 1000 eyes have stumbled upon my Twitter and LinkedIn profiles so I thought I’d say Hello to everybody.

I have been a holder since Brainchip first entered the ASX via the reverse takeover with AZK and I’m really excited about what Akida can help the world achieve!

Yes I work at Dell but unfortunately, the area I work in isn’t pertaining to Edge / AI devices so my interest is purely as a Brainchip shareholder that was onboard well before any speculated link between Brainchip and Dell.

I truely believe there are exciting times ahead for us shareholders and to borrow your phrase, AKIDA BALLISTA! (My opinion only)

Your obviously retired or I’m sure you’d be working for Brainchip as you comprehension is fantastic.

I can cut and paste information and draw some dot’s together but don’t have the qualifications to do much else. I do that to try and contribute to the 1000 eye concept.

I also add my opinion based on what I’ve learnt but I’m really out of my depth on this subject so my opinion doesn’t really count.

A bit crude but: “Opinions are like arseholes: everybody has one!” 😀

But it’s knowledge which is so much more valuable!

I was just watching 7 News and they had a story about a West Australian team of medical researchers trialling an artificial intelligence powered device for portable and remote testing for early symptoms of developing blindness. The device is also currently in space being used to test the effects of gravity on the eyes of astronauts under the watchful eye of NASA.

Have had a quick google around and could not find anything but it is worth a look by the 1,000 Eyes given how likely is W.A. and NASA to come up together like this.

The formal trials for approval of the medical device are set to commence next year. So this is very early stage in one sense but it sounds like the sort of beneficial use we would hope AKIDA could be put too and I should add they did not name the company in WA in the news item.

Yes.
Has been discussed.

They claim their aim is to compete with Nvidia. They have three boards ranging in power consumption from 75 watts to 300 watts. They do deep training neural networks and are chasing software development at the moment to support their systems.

They do not do SNN or low power or Ai/AGi.

They call their current product Greyscale.

PS: More likely to partner with Brainchip than compete just like Nvidia.

A long time ago when Brainchip shares were free and the world was a simpler place a much younger old man at an AGM asked a wise sage this question:

“You have said AKIDA does not do maths but can it actually do maths?”

To which the wise sage replied:

“Yes AKIDA can do maths but that is not what we are focused on.”

The careful former CEO at this point stepped in and moved the conversation away from maths and the younger old man was distracted by the younger old man beside him who whispered “Did Peter say it can do maths?”

Many years later the older young old man was reading new research from Sandia Labs and discovered that they had just discovered that neuromorphic computing like Loihi and TrueNorth can do maths and may be more significant in the future than Quantum in some areas.

So now the older young old man was left to marvel at just how sentient was the old sage all those years ago at the AGM:

Since that AGM the possibilities for AKIDA technology have flourished and the shares are no longer free but the visionaries who followed and believed in Peter van der Made have been rewarded and will in years to come be called lucky by some but they will know that it had absolutely nothing to do with luck.

Every now and again (quite often actually) we get a Fact Finder classic. Below I have reproduced a classic by Fact Finder from June last year when he 'cross-examined' Marcus Burns after his statement on Livewire Buy, Hold, or Sell, where Marcus said "Who knows what a neuromorphic chip is anyway". As a matter of interest the closing price for BRN on that day was 58.5 cents.

On Livewire 4/6/21 Buy, Hold, or Sell

https://youtu.be/0fE66qKgzCk

Ally Selby
: I’ll start with you, Marcus. First up we have Brainchip Holdings (ASX:BRN). It’s share price is up a whopping 650% over the past 12 months. Do you think it is a buy, hold, or sell?

Marcus Burns (SELL): (From Spheria.) I think it’s a screaming sell. The business has no revenue, has $15 million-plus of costs. Who knows what a neuromorphic chip is anyway?

Ally Selby: Chris over to you. Do you think it’s a buy, hold, or sell?

Chris Stott (SELL): (From 1851 Capital). It’s definitely a sell. Yeah. Less than a million dollars of revenue, they’ve probably got a year’s worth of cash in the bank. So, if I was them, I’d be out there raising money right now.

Dam it Rob I just have to take the cheap shot and I tried to be so sophisticated about these posts but its the cross examiner in me coming out just cannot put him to bed:

FF. "So Marcus is it correct you have no idea what a neuromorphic chip is?
Marcus "Yes."
FF. "Have you any idea who NASA, Renesas, Ford, Valeo, DELL Technologies and Socionext are and what they do?
Marcus "Yes."
FF. "Well can you tell us how you know about them?"
Marcus. "Well as part of my general research as a portfolio manager I make it my business to know about the major players in the technology world."
FF. "Would it surprise you to learn then that NASA, Renesas, Ford, Valeo, DELL Technologies and Socionext have in the last 18 months all engaged with Brainchip and have either entered agreements to use, market or test the AKIDA technology offering from Brainchip?"
Marcus. "Sorry what do you mean? I didn't know that."
FF. "Would it surprise you to hear that Brainchip has entered a partnership with a Japanese company Magik-Eye to jointly develop and market their 360 degree vision system that can not only see but provide depth perception?"
Marcus, "No, I have never heard that."
FF. "As part of your in depth research that you do does it extend to reading ASX price sensitive announcements made by companies?"
Marcus, "Yes."
FF. "Did you read the Brainchip price sensitive ASX announcements before expressing your opinion this morning?"
Marcus, "Not sure. I probably would have."
FF. "Do you recall reading one covering a partnership with Biotome by any chance?"
Marcus, "Biotome not sure. What do they do?
FF. "I am here to ask the questions Marcus your job is to answer them. Have you heard of an Israeli company NaNose Medical and its revolutionary sensor that can identify 17 different cancers using a handheld device?"
Marcus, "No, I am not sure."
FF. "Would it surprise you to learn that Brainchip is a Strategic Partner with NaNose Medical?"
Marcus, "Yes. Look I don't want to answer any more questions.'
FF. "Why is that Marcus."
Marcus, "Isn't it obvious I am making myself look like an idiot."
FF. "Point taken. No further questions."
