BRN Discussion Ongoing

Simon Thorpe has considered human obsolescence and wrote a paper proposing a flat rate transaction tax back in 2010:

https://www.researchgate.net/public...inancial_Transaction_Tax_to_replace_all_taxes
Yeah, I remember this panel thing, with Simon and a few other people, debating the future effects of A.I. on society.

This woman said something like..
"We'll always have the arts and creativity"..

Simon, just had this look on his face of..
"You just don't get it do you?"

Yuval Noah Harari, speaks of a "Useless Class" of people, who are not only unemployed, but unemployable.

The mind is our last frontier, that gives us advantage over machines.

Humans are now using them to cheat on "intellectual" endeavors?

Not long before it will be a pointless exercise.

"The machine can produce work and has knowledge that you can never surpass.
Sorry, they got the job"..
The author talks about corporations having legal personality, but I think Sir Edward Coke CJ of the King's Bench nailed it in The Case of Sutton's Hospital (1612) 77 Eng Rep 960:

And it is great reason that an Hospital in expectancy or intendment, or nomination, shall be sufficient to support the name of an Incorporation, when the Corporation itself is onely in abstracto, and resteth onely in intendment and consideration of the Law; for a Corporation aggregate of many is invisible, immortal, & resteth only in intendment and consideration of the Law; and therefore[1] cannot have predecessor nor successor.[2] They may not commit treason, nor be outlawed, nor excommunicate, for they have no souls, neither can they appear in person, but by Attorney.[3] A Corporation aggregate of many cannot do fealty, for an invisible body cannot be in person, nor can swear,[4] it is not subject to imbecilities, or death of the natural, body, and divers other cases.

... although I'm not sure about the bit before "death".

... That reminds me of the story of Peter implementing JAST for the first time.

They fed a whole lot of pseudo-random spikes into an Akida-type prototype and, for a while, nothing - then gradually it started to recognize patterns.

I like to think of that as Peter's Dr Frankenstein moment - "It's alive! It's alive!"

Yes, we have tossed this around over the last month or so. @chapman89 published a chat he had with Luca Verre, who said this:

I have no doubt we will be more to Prophesee than our current status of 'technology demonstrator', but for the time being that is what we are.
Does have me wondering... if Prophesee is searching for a commercial relationship with Brainchip, perhaps one hasn't come to fruition due to a few different reasons:

1) Brainchip has larger opportunities on the boil which it's focusing on - get in line
2) Brainchip has nearer term opportunities on the boil that it's focusing on - get in line
3) Commercial terms have not been agreed - cost, time line, scale etc

So which one is more probable?

We know we're involved with 'household' names, however we have a finite amount of resources. So would it be prudent of management go for deals that provide smaller commercial value at this stage of the companies life. On this basis it feels like Brainchip are acting like the gatekeeper for Prophesee.

Now, of what we know about Prophesee, they are in bed with Sony and a range of other quality companies. If this should give you some perspective on the 'other things' Brainchip are working on... my guess is it is a mix of 1 and 2.

Surely they can only be talking about one thing!!!!:cool::cool:
First of all, they are laying off almost four thousand people from their leading plant here in Europe because they have completely missed the trend or train. And then they come up with the great idea of laying off thousands of development staff!
Good things are coming; in their dreams or in other companies.

I don't think we are stalling the Prophesee engagement. I think Prophesee are a very exciting prospect.

Given that Prophesee have a prior contractual commitment with Synsense:
https://www.prophesee.ai/2021/10/15/synsense-prophesee-neuromorphic-processing-and-sensing/

Oct 15, 2021 – SynSense and Prophesee, two leading neuromorphic technology companies, today announced a partnership that will see the two companies leverage their respective expertise in sensing and processing to develop ultra-low-power solutions for implementing intelligence on the edge for event-based vision applications.
The partnership combines in one single chip SynSense’s low-power vision SNN processor DYNAP-CNN® with Prophesee’s event-based Metavision® sensors, and is focused on developing a line of
cost-efficient modules that can be manufactured at high volume.

and we have only known each other for 8 months:

https://www.prophesee.ai/2022/06/20/brainchip-partners-with-prophesee/

Laguna Hills, Calif. – June 14, 2022 – BrainChip Holdings Ltd (ASX: BRN, OTCQX: BRCHF, ADR: BCHPY), the world’s first commercial producer of neuromorphic AI IP, and Prophesee, the inventor of the world’s most advanced neuromorphic vision systems, today announced a technology partnership that delivers next-generation platforms for OEMs looking to integrate event-based vision systems with high levels of AI performance coupled with ultra-low power technologies.

“We’ve successfully ported the data from Prophesee’s neuromorphic-based camera sensor to process inference on Akida with impressive performance,” said Anil Mankar, Co-Founder and CDO of BrainChip. “This combination of intelligent vision sensors with Akida’s ability to process data with unparalleled efficiency, precision and economy of energy at the point of acquisition truly advance(d) state-of-the-art AI enablement and offers manufacturers a ready-to-implement solution.”

“By combining our Metavision solution with Akida-based IP, we are better able to deliver a complete high-performance and ultra-low power solution to OEMs looking to leverage edge-based visual technologies as part of their product offerings, said Luca Verre, CEO and co-founder of Prophesee
.”

Prophesee has a single hardware product, so, if the Propheseee/Synsense contract had an exclusivity clause, we may need to wait for the expiration of the Synsense contract.

I was off on the same track but you beat my post.

The last bit of my post were these thoughts.

Could be part of the reason being a "demonstrator" maybe so as to not blur lines with SynSense but still showcase the Akida / Metavision potential to potential clients.

Could be, hey the combined tech works great, we just need to figure out how to commercialise / market it without stepping on existing toes.

If was the case and not saying is, would be nice work around to say as an example, licence Akida to Sony who then already have a separate Prophesee agreement and Sony as the end product owner essentially combines both tech themselves potentially avoiding any existing partnership hassles....nice dream anyway hahaha

Was looking for a different infographic but saw this one and reckon sums up things in a nice visual.

Think we know where we are at the mo and where we are about to go to.

Highly unlikely we will receive a $0.60c Special Dividend today...but you never know.

Give it six months.

No matter how much we rely on "automated" systems, ultimately driver is responsible for the safety.

It's sad that incidents like these happen, but 'abc news', Associated Press' etc have a political inclination and imo, these are articles written with certain intend imo.

Yes, Tesla needs to improve its automated system, preferably with Akida, but to single out a car manufacturer because the driver didn't pay attention isn't a far article.

We are not yet close but.... Level 5, Full Automation: An ADS System within the vehicle can do all the driving in all circumstances. The human occupants are just passengers and need never be involved in driving.

Maybe with 'akida inside' one day 😀

After Athens adopted slavery , more of the population were freed up to focus on intellectual pursuits, rather than agriculture, resulting in a golden age in philosophy/science and the arts.

I wonder if something similar would be possible once AI frees up portions of modern society from having to earn a living? And if, once freed, we’d be able to somehow outsmart the machines?

( haven’t read Simon’s paper or watched the debate yet, Dingo - so this is just a half-baked thought )
