DRC mining week 2025: "The Government would never sign an agreement that rewards the aggression of another nation" (Prime Minister)

The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo "would never sign an agreement that rewards the aggression of another nation," according to the Prime Minister, at the closing, Friday, June 13, 2025 in Lubumbashi (Haut-Katanga), of the 20th edition of "DRC mining week 2025", according to a statement.
"The Government would never sign an agreement that rewards the aggression of another nation against us. Our commitment is to protect the legitimate interests of the Congolese people, today and for future generations, "said Judith Suminwa Prime Minister, quoted in the statement.
It also took the opportunity to hammer on the inflexible position of the Congolese Government in the face of external pressures.
With regard to the energy transition and local transformation, the Head of the National Executive highlighted the inseparable link between mining and the energy transition, announcing major reforms to strengthen hydroelectric capacities and attract private investors.
"Mining development cannot take done on the sidelines of the energy transition. These two dimensions are essential to meet the needs of our economic growth and support the global decarbonization dynamic. Our subsoil is a strategic lever to build a sustainable and inclusive model," she said.
Judith Suminwa presented the Lobito corridor railway project as a logistical and economic priority, aimed at transforming the DRC into an industrial and mining hub.
“The Lobito Corridor must become a real development corridor, with integrated industrial poles and special economic zones. It will allow better regional integration and will enhance our resources such as copper and cobalt, for the benefit of our populations, "added the Head of Government, while recalling the recent economic advances hailed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Rating Agencies.
"The heart of Greater Congo beats with courage and pride. We will lead this fight until the final victory, "she concluded.
The closing ceremony of the "DRC Mining Week" ended on a note of hope, with the promise of win-win partnerships and more transparent mining governance, at the service of the Congolese people.

It was initially sprouted as the Security for Minerals deal . Felix has a security problem . He approached the US for assistance . If an outcome re peace deal is not forthcoming doesn't Felix still have the same security problem ? Security for Minerals.

USA are the most powerful nation on earth, so they call the shots (up to a point). The US have ruled out troops but specifically mentioned training and stationing specialists in DRC. The surveillance and battlefield intelligence the US can provide (not to mention the weapons and equipment) could easily shift the balance of power. If one side is being very cooperative and one side isn't, how much support will the US provide to that side so they can operate from a much higher position of strength?
If peace cannot be achieved through diplomacy, it can be achieved through the sword.

6 days - getting to the pointy end. I would like to be a fly on the wall where Nigel and DLA Piper are discussing there next step. There is a diminishing chance of a peace deal in the next week, so the DRC either front up in Washington or come up with some reason why we should extend the stay of court proceedings. Something like a mining licence for the 13359 would be a good start!
"The United States Government has encouraged the parties to take whatever steps are necessary to allow for a climate conducive to discussions leading to a meaningful settlement between the DRC and AVZ. This has resulted in a temporary suspension of the ICSID proceedings until 23 June 2025."

Agree . However how can Felix afford to be dragged to the ICSID after just having put together his A team to oversee US interests/anti corruption ? Shooting oneself in the foot comes to mind. If the US/DRC want Manono then I don't see how the ICSID goes ahead .Zero chance . IMO

Also, if Kabila has flown to the US to start chatting to those that hold the cheque writing pens and then we also see Chinese flags on tables in boardrooms the same week, it means that the rats have made their way directly to the food factory and are going to try their utmost best to sabotage any progress that has been made so far without their interference.

Anyone expecting a Friday announcement??? If they’re going to extend the ICSID temporary suspension or not it’s pretty much the last day we can be advised
