Interesting to see that Eric Allard of Tantalex is not listed as a speaker (or sponsor / exhibitor) at the 2024 Battery Metals Forum this year, after featuring last year 😊.

Actually, to date there are no Lithium sponsors or exhibitors listed for the event starting in a few weeks.

The Premier Forum for Battery Minerals, Exploration, and the Supply Chain

Welcome to the Australian BATTERY MINERALS & SUPPLY CHAIN 2024 Exhibition and Conference, where leading battery mineral miners and upstream explorers will meet with battery manufacturers and investors in Perth, Australia, to explore the latest trends in battery mineral exploration, processing, and the supply chain.
In the race to find alternatives to fossil fuels, as major global car manufacturers rush to build new electric vehicles, demand for the commodities which make up lithium-ion batteries powering EVs is beginning to skyrocket. The recent geopolitical tensions in key mineral-producing regions and underinvestment in battery mineral exploration during the last few years have disrupted the global battery supply chain for lithium, nickel, graphite, cobalt, and manganese. The industry is seeking insights into the demand-supply dynamics that contribute to the price volatility of key battery minerals and new approaches to mineral and metallurgical processing and battery chemistry. Western Australia's battery mineral resources can augment supply and energise the global battery supply chain.
The conference would provide an opportunity to hear from explorers on the subsequent big discoveries and novel extraction and processing technology to boost production, address supply chain concerns, and meet automotive manufacturers' needs. The conference will provide a platform for mining companies to showcase their battery minerals projects to prospective investors.
Key topics on this year's agenda include:
  • Market intelligence on battery minerals demand and supply dynamics
  • Exploring next-generation battery chemistry and a path towards cost-optimisation
  • Supply chain strategies from global battery manufacturersand major mineral producers
  • Effect of battery mineral availability and recovery through battery recycling initiatives
  • Status of new development projects in global upstream battery mineral exploration
  • Upcoming regulations and ESG guidelines toward responsible mineral extractions
  • Case studies of innovative mining processes in battery mineral production
This year's Australian BATTERY MINERALS & SUPPLY CHAIN 2024 is set to become the world's leading exhibition and conference exclusively for upstream battery mineral miners and explorers and downstream processing to meet and collaborate with end-users, including battery manufacturers, to address mineral quality and critical supply chains. In addition, investors and financiers would have a broad overview of the market outlook of battery minerals as an industry and a snapshot of the major upcoming projects to address supply chain challenges.
This exhibition and conference will provide a forum for all stakeholders across the battery manufacturing supply chain to network, build cross-market relationships, and discuss the real challenges and opportunities in battery mineral exploration, processing, and the supply chain.

You would think if Manono is being specifically discussed with regards to the Lobito Corridor , the US will want all issues resolved one way or the other . Either DRC /AVZ resolution or ICSID final verdict with an AVZ victory which could take a few years . How does Kibeya bull sh1t his way around that ?

Must be the first time I’ve heard anyone in a position of power mention Manono, AVZ, Australians, Cominiere and lithium in the one sentence apart from that fuckwit kibeya.

If the Yanks are showing interest then our government must be taking notice. Yanks would want a friendly in charge of Manono supplying the U.S instead of those corrupt chinese controling the market.

Mate, I think I need to disagree with you on two points.

1. If the Yanks are showing interest then our government must be taking notice.
Never underestimate our federal government's ability to ignore the plight Australian companies...except where there is a potential electoral benefit and no risk of upsetting China. While the Cwth govt occasionally makes noises about Chinese bad behavior, it's really just window dressing.

2. Yanks would want a friendly in charge of Manono supplying the U.S instead of those corrupt Chinese controling (sic) the market.
The west, particularly the yanks have had two years to take a position and make their views known to the DRC govt. It hasn't happened and is therefore unlikely to happen. While we think that the USA is Australia-friendly, when it comes to business the US takes a self-serving position every time.

Sorry to say that it seems unlikely we will see Roy Rogers riding to the rescue.

Cheers

How about Trumpy on a white steed? I'd like to see that. Four years ago he was hot for the need to protect critical minerals supply:

I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that a strong America cannot be dependent on imports from foreign adversaries for the critical minerals that are increasingly necessary to maintain our economic and military strength in the 21st century. Because of the national importance of reliable access to critical minerals, I signed Executive Order 13817 of December 20, 2017 (A Federal Strategy To Ensure Secure and Reliable Supplies of Critical Minerals), which required the Secretary of the Interior to identify critical minerals and made it the policy of the Federal Government “to reduce the Nation’s vulnerability to disruptions in the supply of critical minerals.” Pursuant to my order...

Those were the days.

The Acting Special Coordinator of the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI) will spend seven (7) days in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the neighboring Republic of Tanzania. Announcement made on August 21 by the Office of the Spokesperson of the Department of State of the United States of America in a press release, a copy of which was sent to Géopolis Hebdo.

Indeed, Ms. Helaina Matza, Acting Special Coordinator of the Global Infrastructure Investment Partnership, is visiting the DRC and Tanzania from August 21 to 28, 2024 to advance ongoing U.S.-led investments in the development of the Lobito and Trans-African Corridors, as well as to explore opportunities to extend the Economic Corridor to the Indian Ocean.

According to our source, "during her stay in the DRC and Tanzania, Acting Special Coordinator Matza will also meet with government officials (including the Directors General of State portfolio companies) and private sector partners to identify new investment opportunities in sustainable infrastructure and deepen our (this) collaboration."

They say that where credit is due, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Communication Channels and Disenclavement of the DRC, Mr. Jean-Pierre Bemba, chaired a meeting of capital importance at the Government House in the morning on August 22, 2024.

Surrounded by his colleagues, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro Muvunyi, and Minister of Portfolio, Jean Lucien Bussa Tongba, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Finance, Planning and Justice, he discussed the development and revival of the Lobito Corridor with a high-level delegation from the American government.

Led by the Acting Special Coordinator of the United States PGI, and accompanied by the American Ambassador to Kinshasa, Ms. Lucy Tamlyn, the delegation highlighted the strategic importance of this rail corridor which crosses Zambia, Angola, and the DRC.

Discussions focused on joint projects aimed not only at revitalizing this infrastructure, but also at exploring opportunities in the mining and energy sectors. Ms. Helaina Matza, PGI representative, expressed the commitment of the United States to work with the DRC to advance this critical project.

"We are not only here to discuss the railway, but also to look at how mining and energy projects can be integrated into this development," she said.

The Coordinator of the Support and Monitoring Unit for Transport Corridor Programs and Activities, Mr. Roger Te-Biasu, added that the Congolese Government is called upon to submit flagship projects on which the United States could mobilize funding and establish strategic partnerships.

The Lobito Corridor, a vestige of the colonial era, is a key route for the export of Congolese minerals. While significant progress has been made in Zambia and Angola, the revival of this infrastructure in the DRC is now a priority to strengthen the country's economy.

Then, a series of other meetings will take place. Also during her brief stay in Kinshasa, capital of the DRC, Ms. Helaina Matza was able to meet the General Manager of Congolaise d'exploitation minière (COMINIERE SA), Mr. Célestin Kibeya Kabemba, in his office located on Uvira Avenue. With the distinguished guest of the Republic, the DG Célestin Kibeya Kabemba discussed with the Representative of Washington the mega Lithium project of Manono, located in the province of Tanganyika, in the South-East of the DRC.

At the end of this fruitful exchange, the Special Presidential Coordinator of the Partnership for Infrastructure and Global Investment received appropriate answers on what is currently happening in Manono, on the guarantee of security and the opening of shares to other foreign direct investors.

Mrs. Helaina Matza, Representative of the PGI, expressed the interest of the United States of America in the Manono Lithium deposit and the CEO of COMINIERE SA gave assurances to the Head of the American delegation on the availability of the necessary concession within the framework of the Lobito Corridor.

Ms. Helaina Matza, PGI representative, expressed the commitment of the United States of America to work with the DRC to advance this and other critical projects in the 3Ts [Tin (cassiterite), tungsten (wolframite) and tantalum (coltan) are minerals collectively referred to under this term].

After the DRC, the former member of the White House National Security Council, at the US State Department, Ms. Helaina Matza went to Tanzania to continue her journey.

Go AVZ!
How does that corrupt thief Célestin, who sells his own Congolese people down a Chinese river for personal gain live with himself???

I truly believe he is next level evil

It beggars belief that he remains in any position of power and that Cominiere continues to operate with impunity
