I don't expect the National Assembly will be satisfied if Cominière sends as a deputy the coffee lady.If indeed it is Celestin that has been called in to provide a briefing, and if that is indeed about the AVZ/Zijin file, I hope that the Member who called on CKK (along with any other delegates) are forearmed with all the requisite and truthful information regarding this situation.
As we saw with FT, our opponents lies can take hold if there isn't any counter information put forward. Further, it wouldn't be the first time that a question is put forward in Parliament to a bad actor with their foreknowledge, to advance their agendas. China has used that tactic before, as have a lot of other political actors.
But should this alleged questioning be to highlight the shady elements of this case, that would be a real opportunity for us to socialize the truth amongst the DRC elite and apply pressure on the government to back those operating within the law - namely AVZ. I wonder whether we (maybe through our relentless DRC supporters online) could look to ensure that those purportedly tackling CKK in Parliament have a full handle on the facts by forwarding them the documents such as the IGF report and other supporting information. They probably are aware of most particulars already, but unlike us haven't been living this saga day to day, so may not know all of the underhand tactics used by our opponents to undermine DRC and us. Even if they know the generals, spreading that knowledge around could help avoid sugarcoating by CKK and also help avoid any risk of the above nefariously planted question - known in the trade in oz at least as a 'Dorothy Dixer'.
I would say they want a proper explanation from the top honcho, same as in Australia for a Royal Commission, and telling fibs in front of the National Assembly in the DRC will be seen, the same as in Australia, as perjury, with the appropriate consequences.
The National Assembly has asked for an explanation from Cominière regarding its sale of 15% in Dathcom to the benefit of Zijin.
