The representative of the United States of America in the mining sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Benjamin SKOLNIK, accompanied by members of his delegation working in the American International Development Agency USAID, spoke with Mining Minister Antoinette N'samba about a possible "secure" cooperation of Congolese minerals.
These were received by the Minister of Mines on Thursday, February 16, 2023 in her working cabinet in Kinshasa, said the communication department of the said ministry.
During these exchanges, ten (10) projects were at the center of their discussions, two of which focused on the exploitation and export of "clean" gold, according to the same source.
"The United States of America is considering the exploitation and exploration of responsible and secure gold, i.e. own gold," explained Benjamin SKOLNIK at the end of these exchanges.
However, the United States expects to support the Congolese mining sector so that everything takes place in traceability on the one hand, and on the other hand, so that American companies undertake to buy gold from the DRC in order to fight against illicit trade in this sector.
The United States stands alongside the DRC to strengthen the capacity of artisanal farmers, promote exploitation and export under conditions that meet international standards in the mining sector in general land the gold field in particular, this American representative in the Congolese mining sector suggested.
