Makes sense, to be honest what I really object to is when Jens says for the umpteenth time to be respectful because negotiations are happening and I just think fuck off bullshit artist! And it makes me want to do the opposite.
We've heard it all before, it was the 'pointy end' years ago. I've had an absolute gut full, let's hope something actually is happening but if not ICSID 'is' happening and that's the one thing we know for sure. Then they'll either have to make a deal or slowly have their assets stripped to pay us out.
There is always so much hearsay going around but I'm just keeping in mind that all of it to date has proven to be absolute fucking bullshit.

Do we want ROI IN 2025 or more risk on the long long full ICSID route, remember it can take years after an ICSID decision to get any negotiated settlement.
Step back & look at where we are now: 1) Jan 2025 CCP allows CATH/Pei to fund AVZ so China maintains a legal route as well as illegal Zijin, 2) because US Trump Admin wants DRC critical minerals, with Kobold as a vehicle; 3) now DRC & Rwanda have submitted proposals for peace to US, with Military (peace) for Minerals deal (esp Manono) due in a few months.
Re DRC, keep criticism constructive but nothing rude or derogatory, until Deal is signed in a few months, please.

The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda have submitted their contributions, which constitute a preliminary draft of a peace agreement, as provided for in the declaration of principles signed in Washington under the auspices of the United States, a senior American official announced Monday.
"I welcome the draft peace proposal received from the DRC and Rwanda. This is an important step toward fulfilling the commitments made in the Declaration of Principles, and I look forward to their continued commitment to peace," said Massad Boulos, senior advisor for Africa at the U.S. State Department.
The two countries had committed, during a meeting held on April 26 in Washington, to present a joint text by May 2, 2025 at the latest. This commitment, endorsed by Foreign Ministers Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner (DRC) and Olivier Nduhungirehe (Rwanda), is part of a broader diplomatic process, combining the initiatives of Nairobi, Luanda and Doha, under the coordination of the East African Community (ECA), SADC and with the support of the African Union.
The document currently being drafted includes commitments on sovereignty, security, regional economic cooperation, the return of displaced persons, as well as renewed support for the UN mission in the DRC (MONUSCO).
In the event of a persistent divergence on the content of the text, the declaration of principles provides for a ministerial meeting in Washington, under the mediation of the American Secretary of State.
This step marks a major development in regional and international efforts to end the conflict in eastern DRC, where tensions remain high between Kinshasa, Kigali and armed groups active in the region, including the AFC/M23.
We all understand your frustrations Samus, we have all had a gutful too with the never ending hearsays that never eventuated into something, but what is REAL is AVZ have gone from fucked to holding all the cards, that much is TRUE and this US / DRC mineral pact for peace is REAL too and of course KOBOLD wanting to TO AVZ Manono is a theme that has been drumming for a sustained period of time now with plenty of links to support the narrative.
Then finally, what else is true is ISCID deliberations coming real soon and as we all know, AVZ holds all the cards there too, so one has to conclude that there should be a end point to this miserey some time this year in our favour on a probability scale.
Now we all know that i have been filthy regards to FT for a looong time, called him every name in the sun, plus the toxic associates, but if putting my tongue in the cue rack for a couple of months or so is going to help deliver a just result for all of us long term suffering holders, then i have the discipline to do just that...........hoping you and all of my other comrades here, HC & X can do the same.
The prize is worthy to do so.

I mean it makes sense, if negotiations are already on going you want them as quiet as possible, both to not antagonise either party and from our side, there is probably more value in letting them just sweep this under the rug (provided we are adequately compensated). Ideally we would want to be in a China-US bidding war for supply control.... which is probably what DRC wants as well both sides throwing money into the DRC that can go missing. I thought US were going to pony up 5 years ago when China started massively investing to lock up supply... mistakes were made but in the next 5 years it looks like the battle will really commense.
With Labor in office, our dollar will probably really get smashed down too, so settling in USD might be a much bigger win.

Securing mining revenues: American Erik Prince recruited by Kinshasa
According to Reuters, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been reaching an agreement for several months with former Navy Special Forces officer (Navy SEAL), Erik Prince, to secure mining revenues.The aim is to ensure that “the extractive and other industries operate in a transparent manner, and that their production and revenues are properly distributed in accordance with the Congolese Mining Code,” said one of the sources cited by the international news agency.
Concluded ahead of the offensive launched in January by the Rwandan-backed M23 rebels, the agreement aims to generate more revenue by combating smuggling and corruption in the mining sector.
However, no details were given on the implementing rules.
It is only known that the teams had to start in the south of the country, particularly in Katanga, where the Democratic Republic of the Congo would lose up to USD 40 million in monthly revenue, alone on the border between Kolwezi and zambia, according to a source quoted by Reuters.
For 2025, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is projecting mining revenues of more than 5 billion dollars, an increase of 11 per cent over the 2024 forecast.
But, according to the authorities, these revenues could be much higher if the country could reduce smuggling and corruption in this key sector.
In this context, the Government is stepping up initiatives to secure mineral resources.
Since October 2024, President Félix Tshisekedi has ordered tighter controls at the mining areas.
Erik Prince (born June 6, 1969 in Holland, Michigan) is a former Navy SEAL officer.
In 1997, he founded the private military company Blackwater Worldwide (now Academi), which he sold in 2010, after several of his employees were charged with homicides of civilians in Iraq.
They were convicted and pardoned by Donald Trump in his first term.
Close to the current US president, Erik Prince could benefit from the mining agreement being discussed between Washington and Kinshasa.
Through one of its Frontier Services Group (FSG) companies, it has signed contracts for the protection of mining assets in the DRC owned by Chinese companies.
In December 2020, the Africa Intelligence newspaper revealed that FSG had reached an agreement with Sicomines.
A few months earlier, the same media had reported a contract with China Nonferrous Metal Mining Corp (CNMC).

These self-denials are naturally unfounded..."Let me state categorically that anything worthwhile has already been expropriated and flogged off to the Chinese at bargain basement prices, and only when the appropriate bribes have been paid. This is what the citizens of our once-great country expect, and this is what we will deliver for them".

This is the key here imo, we need the ruling against DRC to ensure the Americans have to play fair.
My feeling is that DRC are waiting to see if they can get out of the ICSID case, the Americans are waiting to see if it goes in our favour and to what extent. Otherwise they'll probably shaft us just as easily as the Chinese.
If there is a deal in the meantime good, but I'm not holding my breath.

So what do make of the "appropriately compensated" statement ? Or the $1.5Bill + Royalties leak? Does the US/West already have enough info to know how the ICSID will pan out ? Would DLA Piper brief them on case details ? Is the ICSID time frame and subsequent Valuation worth the the journey ? Would AVZ's Court victories so far, along with the DRC's attempts to avoid the ICSID (unpaid fees /objection to Jurisdiction) be noted ? Add to all that the DRC Ministers/Officials /Presidents being exposed ? I have my doubts the US/DRC need to wait for an ICSID verdict . IMO
After all my years in business , construction , hotels , motels , ANY and ALL disputes are sorted on the courthouse steps at the last second , because it's still business till then , lets see what what happens over the following weeks .
