Felix Tshisekedi visits Shanghai, the economic lung of modern China

1685318055819.png

President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi visited on Saturday May 27, for the second stage of his state visit to China, the city of Shanghai, the economic heart of modern China.

He met with the town's Communist Party secretary, Chen Jining, at the local people's palace.

The latter highlighted the role of Shanghai, which wants to become a centerpiece in the strategic partnership between China and the DRC in order to broaden the prospects for cooperation between China and the DRC, reports the Communication Unit of the Presidency of the DRC.

Chen Jining also stressed China's willingness to deepen traditional friendship not only with the DRC, but also with African countries through a new philosophy based on sincerity, candor and substantial relations.

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo insisted on the protection of the achievements of revitalizing relations between his country and China as initiated with his Chinese counterpart.

The Head of State of the DRC recalled that his country and China have maintained excellent relations for more than 50 years now.

Relations that have left their mark in his country, particularly in the field of infrastructure.

The IGF asks for 20 billion in compensation, xi gives 1 million in aid (could be considered a bribe as it is way too low for aid).
xi states that chinese companies should comply with their agreements eg. infrastructure developments.
Felix calls for government-government agreements.
This says to me that xi has separated chinese companies from the chinese government to place the blame of corruption on the individual companies.
This is a good thing as the DRC can redo the contracts without the threat from the chinese government.
I know what you will say, that the chinese companies are puppets of xi, and you would be correct but xi has drawn a line in the sand.
chinese government commitments = $1 million and a few MOUs.
chinese companies = contracts redrawn for the benefit of the DRC
Manono will be decided in the ICC as the independent umpire and AVZ will be the victor.
Hi Tonster

Exept that Zijin Mining is a Chinese state owned enterprise (SOE). This means that the Chinese government is the beneficial owner, and its activities are ultimately directed by Beijing. Its largest shareholder is Shanghang Minxi Xinghang State-Owned Property Investment Company (Interestingly, the Chinese state gets >30% of its revenue from property sales...just like the Andrews govt in Vic (LOL)).

I don't see evidence of a line in the sand, but just the same shit.

I agree that AVZ will be vindicated, but I think it will be through a negotiated settlement.

It's good to have divergent views.

Cheers
F

Given you a TU but the alternative could go something like this:

FT. So bearing in mind the obvious Chinese company corrupton we would like to receive compensation and renegotiate contracts with them.

ZingyPingy. Your most esteemed excellency, the corruption of these companies is most reprehensible and they will be pulled firmly into line as much as we can in a free society. You have my word. Changes have aleady been made.

However, you are asking a little too much and in order to safeguard future Chinese investment by these entities you need to back off just a little.
Future contracts can take into account any proven previous underpayments and not impinge on their cashflow and thus allow them to allocate funds to future investment in DRC.

While your here, is there anything we can do, aid your military? Our technology is now on a par with the US and we will not invoke woke 'principles' when considering orders.
Perhaps payments for this equipment could be deferred and be paid for with a loan from PRC.
Anything else we can do to aid your country's development?
Mr President, please be assured that we value your relationship with your country, our interests are to have a strong stable DRC so that we know we have a stable business environment.
The whole nation was honoured by your visit. (Now fuck off).

"Manono will be decided in the ICC as the independent umpire and AVZ will be the victor"

No doubt AVZ will be the victor as everything via documentation / law leads to it, but fuck me, i am hoping the point of the visit to China apart from the other agenda..........was to get THE PARTY FINALLY STARTED at Manono with AVZ ml in hand, before ICC arbitration in July as that will be another major drag on time for everyone concerned, not sure the mental faculties on this forum could cope with much more....:cautious:😭

Actually, we do...;)

Where the fuck is his mask ?

If he goes back home with Covid, mass people will be effected......where is he going to find the funds for anti viral treatment / respirators ?

China will probably give him a big box full of Chinese made vaccinations which purportedly is as useless as fuck and charge him $1m, therefore FT goes back home with no aid at all for the floods, ......:cautious:

Penny should be on the phone with Xi “now you’ve agreed that you are happy with your DRC partnership, we are going to need you to call off zinjin and offer Aust shareholders a reasonable price for their investment, and we can all get back to pretending your not just a mandarin speaking devil in a suit”

Which is the ICC hearing is occurring in July?
  • The one initiated by AVZ to stop the dissolution of Dathcom?
  • The claim by the corrupt ones for $1.6b(?) against AVZ?
  • The claim for $500m because Nigel parked in Celestine’s allocated spot?
  • Something else?
Oh, do we know why we’ve heard crickets about the MMCS case at the ICC?

I can’t keep up…

it's the one where Zijin (JC) take AVZ to task to validate their (illegal) purchase of the 15%, but the first part is to decide whether they actually have the right to do this, as they were not part of the JVA

MMCS?

Cheers dude.

So this is the one where, assuming we win, we find out that Z have no jurisdiction to take action against us so that action cannot proceed any further. Then everyone looks at each other and says “Now what?”

Is it that one?

I get what you are saying. china wants to play democracy when they want to but ultimately all chinese companies are subordinate to the cjinese government eg. Jack Ma - Alibaba.
Kiki Kienge on the bird writes,
"The Chinese ambassador in #RDC said the contract was between the Congolese government and a group of Chinese companies". Thus the chinese government is distancing itself from chinese companies by using democracy to suit their interests. We know that the chinese control chinese companies, that what communism is about

The reason I stated the decision will be made at the ICC because it is independent so the DRC government can allude to this decision when china asks why they didnt get Manono. For me its the election that is playing a big role in decisions at the moment. The chinese are propaganda machines and can influence the election against Felix. If there was no election I think the IGF and Felix would tell china to bugger off.

My understanding is if Z gets told it doesn't have the right to even seek a ruling by ICC, then this case gets dropped.

This would then leave AVZ's attack on Cominiere, which has two parts - a ruling (ideally in our favour) over the dissolution of the JVA, and the legality of Cominiere selling JC the 15%. (see 17 April announcement)

And finally, there's the vexatious claim for damages from Z and C.

Oh, and still have the DATHOMIR case, launched by AVZ

Thanks again.

I struggle to see how that all comes to a head (i.e. a decision on the ML) any time soon.
