Intellisense Systems, Inc. proposes in Phase II to advance development of a Neuromorphic Enhanced Cognitive Radio (NECR) device to enable autonomous space operations on platforms constrained by size, weight, and power (SWaP). NECR is a low-size, -weight, and -power (-SWaP) cognitive radio built on the open-source framework, i.e., GNU Radio and RFNoC™, with new enhancements in environment learning and improvements in transmission quality and data processing. Due to the high efficiency of spiking neural networks and their low-latency, energy-efficient implementation on neuromorphic computing hardware, NECR can be integrated into SWaP-constrained platforms in spacecraft and robotics, to provide reliable communication in unknown and uncharacterized space environments such as the Moon and Mars. In Phase II, Intellisense will improve the NECR system for cognitive communication capabilities accelerated by neuromorphic hardware. We will refine the overall NECR system architecture to achieve cognitive communication capabilities accelerated by neuromorphic hardware, on which a special focus will be the mapping, optimization, and implementation of smart sensing algorithms on the neuromorphic hardware. The Phase II smart sensing algorithm library will include Kalman filter, Carrier Frequency Offset estimation, symbol rate estimation, energy detection- and matched filter-based spectrum sensing, signal-to-noise ratio estimation, and automatic modulation identification. These algorithms will be implemented on COTS neuromorphic computing hardware such as Akida processor from BrainChip, and then integrated with radio frequency modules and radiation-hardened packaging into a Phase II prototype. At the end of Phase II, the prototype will be delivered to NASA for testing and evaluation, along with a plan describing a path to meeting fault and tolerance requirements for mission deployment and API documents for integration with CubeSat, SmallSat, and rover for flight demonstration.




Potential NASA Applications (Limit 1500 characters, approximately 150 words):
NECR technology will have many NASA applications due to its low-SWaP and low-cost cognitive sensing capability. It can be used to enhance the robustness and reliability of space communication and networking, especially cognitive radio devices. NECR can be directly transitioned to the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate (HEOMD) Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Program, CubeSat, SmallSat, and rover to address the needs of the Cognitive Communications project.

I am fine with whatever everyone else agrees on. I thought having the other thread worked well and helped keep this thread focused on facts and research. Personally I don't like reading about other people's fears about the share price, unless they can support why they are worried with some decent research.

I think the primary fact is that any research in this Company is really only of a cursory interest to the vast majority of people who visit here and is relevant mainly due to the extent of the likely effect it will have on our share price.

Lets face the fact that the main reason we spend any time here at all is because we are invested, not just in some pretty ideas of technological advancement, but with our hard earned dollars and in the hope of becoming fabulously wealthy.

The fact that our product can have a beneficial impact on the world is gravy and did indeed attract me to Brainchip, but in all honesty the main reason I'm here is for the money.

There is / will be competitors...........Do any other neuromorphic chips at the moment in the market place have the capabilities to do ON CHIP LEARNING ??????

I believe all the other neuromorphic chips need to use the cloud to do the learning, where Akida has the unique ability to learn and extend classes on the device

@Steve10 when Qualcomm revealed their Snapdragon with Prophesee at CES, the blur free photography contribution was not from Brainchip even though many of us thought it was. Therefore it must have been Synsense. Round one to Synsense although there are many rounds to play out over coming years.

They will also have to go through the same R&D process as we have been through once it becomes available (maybe another year+++) ..And Selling/convincing the companies that the product is for them!? And as we have found out it takes years from getting an interested party onboard to them testing and incorporating it into a product and signing up for IP!
IMO we will have taken up a huge chunk of the market by the time any other Neuromorphic chip hits the Ai space! And as Dozz say's who else has on-chip-learning???

Innatera tech is analog-mixed signal whereas Akida is digital.

Innatera has been around for a while now and the last time it came up which was reasonably recent when we dug into it again for the umptieth time tucked away in the latest release was a line to the effect they still had to iron out the problem with production issues. @Diogenese has often written about the main issue with analogue is the inability to produce the chips without errors (my words) and in my words again a tiny error/defect in analogue will multiply when being used for spiking neuromorphic computing. This production issue is why Peter van der Made and Anil Mankar went with digital so it is reliable, cheap and capable of mass production across a range of different processes and foundries.

I suspect that when they work out how to do it and many have tried before them it will be a more expensive process and they will be at a different price point. A lot of water to flow under their bridge before they are actually a competitor in the mass end of the market with AKIDA at low cost.

The top of the range AM69A is up to 32 TOPS & sells for $150 USD for 1,000+ volume.

The mid range AM68A is up to 8 TOPS & sells for $20 USD for 1,000+ volume.

Only thing that doesn't fit is their top of the range AM69A is up to 32 TOPS instead of Akida-P's up to 50 TOPS. You would think they would offer the maximum TOPS for top of the range.

Yes I read this the other day and the difference in Tops pulled me up. It of course is possible that as has been mentioned before like Renesas that bought two nodes of AKIDA IP as it was sufficient for there target market Texas Instruments used less nodes as at 32TOPS it would be more than adequate for their target market and of course is cheaper and also allows for the new improved models ie 40TOPS, 45TOPS, 50TOPS for later upselling of customers.
