BRN Discussion Ongoing

So what’s the consensus on if Mercedes Benz are going to have vehicles containing akida in 2024? I’ve read a few reports now that it “may” contain the tech that was used in the EQXX (akida)

“Mercedes-Benz have also been eager to reveal that this new electric saloon will be the pioneer of the company’s proprietary MB Operating System, which will be used instead of the Google connectivity options integrated into the vehicles of competitors such as Volvo. This homemade infotainment system may even feature the experimental processor being developed by Mercedes that executes tasks in “neuromorphic spikes”, which essentially translates to the processor steadily accumulating tasks until a certain quantity has been reached, when they are all carried out simultaneously”
Look into the EQA with the new MBOS

I have to find out and understand that first. I post it as a lover of TSE and as someone who takes the rules seriously. I have a hunch, but I have to look first. So I'm posting this for transparency and because we all need to learn:

I still haven't figured out which of my posts was worth deleting for Dreddbot. But I have cleaned up some more myself. I fear that Dreddb0t has exaggerated especially when I look at a lot of the posts here. A lot of joy, fun and laughter would be sacrificed to the clean factual thread. By logic, this post would also have to be deleted and my avatar banned. I don't know if I'd like that. Imagine every post that is off topic would be deleted.
I am the law. I will also think about that for the time being.

Round 1 between Hailo & BRN has been won by BRN. Renesas who is partnered with both chose BRN IP for their new RA series MCU based on ARM Cortex-M85.

Round 1 between SynSense & BRN appears to be going in favour of BRN. Prophesee is partnered with both & appears will choose the BRN IP. BRN is a superior product more suited to Prophesee's metavision sensor & SynSense released Speck using IniVation's (Prophesee competitor) sensor instead of Prophesee's sensor.
@Steve10 when Qualcomm revealed their Snapdragon with Prophesee at CES, the blur free photography contribution was not from Brainchip even though many of us thought it was. Therefore it must have been Synsense. Round one to Synsense although there are many rounds to play out over coming years.

And this from Bill Gates…..

The next frontiers

There will be an explosion of companies working on new uses of AI as well as ways to improve the technology itself. For example, companies are developing new chips that will provide the massive amounts of processing power needed for artificial intelligence. Some use optical switches—lasers, essentially—to reduce their energy consumption and lower the manufacturing cost. Ideally, innovative chips will allow you to run an AI on your own device, rather than in the cloud, as you have to do today.

This is potentially huge. I have rabbited on about the cognitive communications market and how important it is to Brainchip’s commercial success.

And before anyone flogs the dead horse about this is only NASA etc; read this:

The global radio frequency front end market size was valued at $18.8 billion in 2021, and is projected to reach $69.9 billion by 2031, growing at a CAGR of 13.8% from 2022 to 2031.

And they mentioned for “commercial and government markets”

That doesn’t sound like just for NASA

“Intellisense Systems Inc. has selected its neuromorphic technology to improve the cognitive communication capabilities on size, weight and power (SWaP) constrained platforms (such as spacecraft and robotics) for commercial and government markets.”

No it does not have to be SynSense. Prophesee can run their sensor using Von Neumann computing but it is less efficient. So just because Prophesee is not using AKIDA does not immediately default to SynSense far from it.

What Prophesee has found in Brainchip AKIDA is the optimum processing solution for their technology.

No. Qualcomm was using their own Hexagon CNN processor.

Intellisense does preface their Akida/NASA integration anouncement with "one such project"

"One such project is the development of a new Neuromorphic Enhanced Cognitive Radio (NECR) device to enable autonomous space operations on platforms constrained by size, weight and power (SWaP). Intellisense’s NECR technology provides NASA numerous applications and can be used to enhance the robustness and reliability of space communication and networking, especially cognitive radio devices".

A reasonable deduction from that wording is this is one of many possible projects involving akida.

Seems like another great fit for Brainchip.

Thank you both. This is the first time the correct explanation came to me. Or perhaps I just missed this the last time.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has mentioned that "the iPhone moment of AI has started".

Nvidia turns to AI cloud rental to spread new technology

Economy 20 minutes ago (Mar 22, 2023 08:33)

By Stephen Nellis

(Reuters) -Nvidia Corp Chief Executive Jensen Huang on Tuesday laid out the company's plans to make the powerful and expensive supercomputers used to develop AI technologies like ChatGPT available for rent to nearly any business.

While that access will not come cheap - at $37,000 a month for eight of Nvidia's flagship A100 or H100 chips strung together - offering it to a wider swath of business customers could accelerate an AI boom that has driven Nvidia shares up 77% this year, making it about five times more valuable than longtime rival Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC).

The Santa Clara, California-based company already dominates the field for artificial intelligence chips and has helped partners like Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) build huge systems for ChatGPT creator OpenAI's services to answer questions with human-like text and generate images from prompts.

At Nvidia's annual software developer conference on Tuesday, Huang said the company was working with partners such as Oracle Corp (NYSE:ORCL) to offer access to Nvidia's DGX supercomputers with as many as 32,000 of Nvidia's chips to anyone who can log on with a web browser.

"The iPhone moment of AI has started," Huang said in the virtual keynote address, referring to how Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) opened up the market for smartphones.

Huang said Nvidia was also working with Microsoft and Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Inc to offer its supercomputers, used to create new AI products, as a service. Nvidia on Tuesday announced new chips and software designed to make products like chatbots much cheaper to operate on a day-to-day basis after they have been created with supercomputers.

Those products "are years ahead of the competition," said Hans Mosesmann, a semiconductors analyst at Rosenblatt Securities. "Nvidia's leadership on the software side of AI is not only monumental - it is accelerating."

Nvidia is also partnering with AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) to make dispatching trucks more efficient, collaborating with quantum computing researchers to speed software development, and working with industry giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co to speed up chip development, Huang added.

Nvidia's new rental service, called DGX Cloud, could give many more developers the chance to access tens of thousands of its chips at once. Biotech firm Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) and software firm ServiceNow Inc have started using the service, Nvidia said.

Nvidia also launched a service called AI Foundations to help companies train their customized artificial intelligence models. Several major owners of stock image databases plan to use the service, which would avert legal questions about copyright of images used to generate AI content.

Huang also announced technology to speed up the design and manufacturing of semiconductors. The software uses Nvidia's chips to speed up a step that sits between the software-based design of a chip and the physical fabrication of the lithography masks used to print that design on a piece of silicon.

Those calculations could take a traditional computing chip two weeks to complete, but Nvidia said Tuesday its chips and software can handle the task overnight and reduce the electricity used in the task from 35 megawatts to 5 megawatts.

Nvidia said it was working with ASML Holding (AS:ASML), Synopsys (NASDAQ:SNPS) Inc and TSMC to bring it to market. TSMC will start readying the technology for production in June, Huang said.
