BRN Discussion Ongoing

Sean Hehir, CEO of BrainChip, highlighted the importance of this work, stating:

"This partnership showcases how neuromorphic computing can achieve significant benefits of low-power, high-performance compute in the most mission-critical use cases."

The contract also involves BrainChip partnering with a yet-unnamed aerospace and defence giant. Milestone payments will begin in January 2025, providing much-needed revenue consistency over the next year.

Where did you see: The contract also involves BrainChip partnering with a yet-unnamed aerospace and defence giant?

Link, please.

Well, I found the link myself and this guy does say: Quote: The contract also involves BrainChip partnering with a yet-unnamed aerospace and defence giant. Milestone payments will begin in January 2025, providing much-needed revenue consistency over the next year.

If that's true, then we are off to the races!

The Silent Revolution in AI Infrastructure is Here 🤫

While the world marvels at AI’s rapid evolution, an equally transformative revolution is unfolding in AI infrastructure—one that could redefine the trajectory of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

For years, GPUs have dominated AI’s rise. But as we march toward AGI, the computing demands are pushing the limits of GPU-centric architectures. Enter edge innovations from trailblazing companies and research labs working on non-GPU alternatives. These aren’t just technological advancements; they represent a paradigm shift in how we compute:

•Neuromorphic Chips by Intel and BrainChip, inspired by the human brain, promise energy-efficient, real-time learning at the edge.

•Optical Computing by Lightmatter and Lightelligence leverages photons for faster and greener AI computation.

•Quantum Computing led by Google and IBM could unlock AGI-scale challenges by tackling problems impossible for classical systems.

•Analog AI from Mythic and EnCharge AI integrate memory and computation for ultra-low latency, bringing intelligence closer to devices.

Why Does This Matter?
Beyond innovation, this is about digital sovereignty. Each country must aim to build a Computing Surplus—an excess capacity of computing power—to ensure independence in shaping its AI future. Computing Surplus is the backbone of Digital Sovereignty and critical to:

•Safeguarding data security.
•Reducing dependency on monopolized hardware ecosystems.
•Creating equitable access to next-gen AI capabilities.

This revolution isn’t loud, but its impact will be profound. The nations and organizations investing in cutting-edge AI infrastructure today are the ones who will lead the AGI-driven future. Let’s keep our eyes on these innovators and ensure the democratization of computational power to build a fairer, more intelligent world.

What’s your take on this emerging shift? Are we prepared for a post-GPU world? Let’s discuss!

To be honest, I guess the Germans will sell off at the beginning and collect a few pennies, thinking they’ve made the deal of their life. Later, when the pros don’t see a further downtrend, they will buy in. Let’s see… maybe I’m wrong. But in Germany, there are a lot more ‘mimimis’ than down under… believe me.

I agree with Dodgy Knees on the announcement.
I believe we'll be paying the sub contractor 800K, leaving us 1Mill USD.
Maybe the mob going out tomorrow night in Perth can get some clarification from Tony D or someone else.
The post on Linkedin from Tony Lewis was pretty exciting. He's definitely pumped.
Good day !!

"Yes to Edge AI!
BrainChip has racked up an impressive number of beyond state of the art models for edge inference. These models are based on our own TENNs family of models. hashtag#TENNS are a kind of State-Space Model recently popularized by hashtag#Mamba. We have been working on our variant for a number of year and have already created hardware to run our models.

I am constantly shocked and amazed to see so many incredible results across a broad array of use-cases.

We are at a defining moment in AI and I am proud to be working with an incredible team making it happen at hashtag#BrainChip

Usually, when companies talk about pushing the boundaries of PPA--- Performance, Power and Area (or cost) they can nudge one of these metrics at the cost of another. We are seemingly riding along a Pareto Frontier and "no company shall pass" that frontier... until now.

With TENN+Akida we are seen remarkable performance and power and model size reduction when compared to conventional CNN model. I think we might be able to schedule a funeral for CNN models for temporal processing.

Why does this matter to anyone? AI everywhere is a solution to climbing energy usage of cloud computing, latency, and expensive back-end inference.

I am guess 80% of LLM tasks can be pushed to the edge right now and with TENNS+Akida, LLM, audio signal processing and more can be pushed into inexpensive chips.

Incredible levels of intelligence at the edge is now possible at very low cost of ownership.

If you are highly skilled in Edge AI, understand building networks from scratch, have a great positive attitude and like working in a highly collaborative atmosphere, consider working for us in R&D here in sunny Southern California. Lets make this happen together!"

Holding onto what I've got
This announcement is, in my view, even more significant than when we mentioned NASA or when Mercedes referenced us a few years ago. As usual, the market seems slow to fully appreciate today's suprise annoucement..

1. This announcement represents a tangible contract backed by funding, signaling a direct entry point with immediate financial impact.

2. The collaboration with AFRL can potential to lead to broader engagements with the DoD. However, realizing this opportunity depends on executing the partnership effectively.

3. Lastly, the first move has been made, we should now *fingers crossed* see more now following.

This is a pivotal step forward, both financially and strategically for Brainchip, bring on 2025 💪🏽

I didn't realize Anil was so hep.

Anil's a cool dude, with a brilliant mind like Peter....he's hoping to come down under at some stage to visit New Zealand and maybe
that other land mass to the West...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Feeling quietly smug with my January 2025 review made over 2 years ago......for any shareholder still doubting the brilliance of the
ever developing Akida Suite of products, stop worrying....I believe Collins Aerospace or Lockheed Martin are due to coming knocking,
because the cat is out of the bag, AKD II in hardware, with TENN's...this party is slowly, but surely, going to ramp up throughout 2025

Just need a few more companies to make that final decision to commit so the momentum keeps driving us forward !

Don't forget our original founder is still quietly working away in his semi-retirement on Cortical AKD

❤️ Brainchip Tech.

"An impressive number of beyond SOTA models for edge inference ... based on our own TENNs family of models."

I read this as "We have a whole lot of customers lined up and working with us to adapt their, probably CNN, models to run on Akida2/TENNs."

"I think we might be able to schedule a funeral for CNN models for temporal processing."

Ubiquitous!

Much of the model building was probably done in conjunction with Edge Impulse, who have developed a method of automatically classifying items added to a model, as I understand it (I may be wrong - (there's always a first time)) basically using one-shot learning from pre-existing models. This may relate to "based on our own TENNs family of models".

@TECH , you referred to Akida 2 silicon - remember when Anil announced the tapeout, and then this was quietly shelved in favour of some mysterious "other" entity doing the job?

Drum roll ... !!!

The curtains part to reveal ... ???

... any day now ...

PS: Sally Atkinson from Edge Impulse gave Tony's post the thumbs up.

Hey Dio,

Are you just suspecting that is the case, or was it confirmed somewhere that Akida 2 tapeout was pulled due to somebody else undertaking it?
