Been thinking about this SoundHound and Bnp Paribas, with Bnp Paribas holding and increasing a large number of shares in SoundHound. Interesting as a coincidence Bnp Paribas have and do the same thing with Brainchip shares. Pure coincidence...

What about the “Saturday night Tony Broadway show”? Was also nice…
A great example of why I dislike "A.I. analysis"
This by Gemini..

"The phrase "Saturday night Tony Broadway show" most likely refers to the musical "Saturday Night Fever" which is a Broadway show adapted from the 1977 film. The show features music by the Bee Gees and tells the story of Tony Manero, a young Brooklynite who becomes a disco king on Saturday nights. The musical explores themes of identity, social pressures, and the search for meaning through dance and music.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • "Saturday Night Fever": This is the name of the Broadway musical.
  • "Tony": Refers to Tony Manero, the main character in the musical.
  • "Broadway Show": Indicates that the production is playing on Broadway, a major theater district in New York City.
  • "Saturday night": While not the name of a specific show, it refers to the setting and time frame of the musical, where Tony Manero spends his weekends at a disco.
The musical "Saturday Night Fever" is a popular choice for Broadway audiences, especially those who enjoy disco music and stories of youthful rebellion and self-discovery."

Unless that's actually what you were talking about I guess...

Edit.. Ahh.. You mean Dr Tony Lewis..
I'll go back in my box..

2022 and they're still exploring...hmmmm

Wonder if that indicates they are also exploring other neuromorphic options now too?

It's absolutely a very good sign with this updated catalogue, IMHO.

They write: BrainChip’s Akida IP is fully compatible with Arm’s product families!
Nice, I like that very much, should only be a matter of time before someone order something from ARM with Akida build in. However, we will first find out when the money starts flowing into BRN's coffers.

Here is the PDF from ARM

Its a great sign when a business like ARM say:
" BrainChip is the worldwide leader in edge AI on-chip processing and learning. "
My bold above.
When ARM say you are the worldwide leader then you absolutely are.

Hi Fmf,

Well at that time, Synsense were targeting low hanging fruit.

They scored a coup with the Speck DVS image sensor/NN. The 320 k neurons would align with Prophesee's light weight DVS sensor. (Synsense are now with Inivation or vice-versa).

https://www.synsense.ai/products/speck-2/

Speck™ is a fully event-driven neuromorphic vision SoC. Speck™ is able to support large-scale spiking convolutional neural network (sCNN) with a fully asynchronous chip architecture. Speck™ is fully configurable with the spiking neuron capacity of 320K. Furthermore, it integrates the state-of-art dynamic vision sensor (DVS) that enables fully event-driven based, real-time, highly integrated solution for varies dynamic visual scene. For classical applications, Speck™ can provide intelligence upon the scene at only mWs with a response latency in few ms.

They tout this as being useful in, among other things:

Self Driving
  • Lane detection
  • Sign recognition
  • Driver attention tracking
  • Obstacle detection

We know Akida 2 had to step up accuracy to 8-bit, but we don't know the driver for this change, but certainly the demand from automotive would be for increasing accuracy. However, Speck is lightweight even compared to Akida 1. It would not stand comparison with Akida 2 with TENNs.

https://www.bing.com/copilotsearch?q=bmw+neuromorphic+assisted+driving&FORM=CSSCOP

Current & Future Applications

BMW’s initial focus with SynSense is on non-safety-critical smart cockpit applications, such as:
  • Driver attention monitoring
  • Passenger behavior analysis
  • Keyword spotting and interaction detection
Looking ahead, BMW plans to explore:
  • Higher-resolution neuromorphic sensors and vision processors
  • Advanced automotive functions, e.g., autonomous driving perception, emergency braking assistance
  • Integration into broader sensory systems beyond the cockpit

So, as you say, there is a reasonable case that BMW would be looking at Akida 2 which, coincidentally, came out in 2022.

Less than two months ago, our then Regional Sales Manager in Taiwan, Edward Lien (who just announced that he had left our company) posted on LinkedIn that he were looking forward to attending 2025 Andes RISC-V CON Beijing:

I assume he was originally also scheduled to be the speaker representing BrainChip at that conference, which will take place on 27 August:

If you had checked out the conference website over the past few days, you would have been greeted with this (screenshot taken on 6 August):

Earlier today, I noticed that the BrainChip logo has now been replaced with a photo of what appears to be a new Taipei-based hire called Jerry Kuo, who is described as a Solutions Architect at BrainChip.

This new position is, however, not yet reflected in what I believe to be his LinkedIn profile (despite not listing MediaTek as a former employer):

Why Neuromorphic Sensor Fusion is About to Change Everything

Companies like BrainChip, GrAI Matter Labs, and Rain Neuromorphics are developing neuromorphic accelerators specifically designed for edge deployment, with power envelopes measured in milliwatts rather than watts. The barrier to entry is dropping fast.

Bottom Line

Working with automotive and research sensor fusion systems, I've watched theoretical advantages become deployment realities. The hardware exists, algorithms work, and applications demand it.

For anyone building autonomous systems, robotics, or embedded AI: neuromorphic computing isn't a future consideration, it's a current competitive advantage. We're finally building machines that perceive like living systems: efficiently, reactively, and in real time.

It appears to be still there as "Akita"..

I'd say it was us that filled in his bio and I understand that it was probably "typed in" as Akida and auto-corrected to Akita...
But should have been picked up and changed, at least by now??..
