I think another catalyst of the positive price movement could the annual cycle of investing narratives.

Archer Materials (Quantum company) had a nice jump out of no where too yesterday and AI Web 3 companies are pumping as well. Could it just be that time if year?

This time last year was probably the peak in Chatgpt's popularity after in January 2023 it famously onboarded 1 million users in 5 days and in February that number was growing exponentially and the buzz around it was loud.
Maybe investors have that February AI feeling again?

I am hoping we have a fundamental catalyst that will be revealed in the annual report likely to be released later this month, but it is still good to know we are in the trending narrative as well.

Was just looking through this site I found that has info on Tata Elxsi.

Some pretty awesome recent deals, contracts and partnerships of which a lot contain requirements or use cases for Ai.

Then right down the bottom....the announcement of our partnership with them.

A lot of the stuff would appear within our capabilities I believe and as such I expect we should see cross overs in their projects outside of the original medical aspect.

Softbank’s Arm, chip design firm holds IPO at Nasdaq Market site in New York
By Stephen Nellis and Max A. Cherney
(Reuters) -Arm Holdings on Wednesday forecast fiscal fourth-quarter sales and adjusted profit above Wall Street expectations as customers aim to design new chips for artificial intelligence work (AI), generating higher royalties for the British technology firm.
Arm's forecast ranges for its fourth quarter had midpoints of $875 million for sales and 30 cents per share for adjusted earnings, above estimates of $780.3 million and 21 cents per share, according to LSEG data.
Arm shares rose as much as 13% in after-hours trading after the forecast and results were released.
For the full fiscal year, Arm expects $3.18 billion in revenue and adjusted earnings of $1.22 per share, both above analysts' estimates of $3.05 billion and $1.07 per share.

"We're seeing more interest in newer designs and newer technologies by customers" due to interest in AI, Jason Child, Arm's chief financial officer, told Reuters. "It's real. Folks are actually buying and licensing that technology."

For the fiscal third quarter, Arm reported sales of $824 million and adjusted earnings of 29 cents per share, topping Wall Street estimates of $761.6 million and 25 cents per share.
Arm, which is still majority-owned by Japan's SoftBank Group after a public listing last year, creates intellectual property that underlies most of the world's smartphone chips.
The company has also expanded into laptops, where customers such as Qualcomm and Nvidia plan to use its technology for forthcoming chips, and data centers, where Microsoft and Amazon.com now offer Arm-based central processors to developers via their cloud computing businesses.
Arm makes money via licensing deals for its intellectual property and a royalty charged for each chip sold that uses its technology. The company's $75 billion valuation on just over $3 billion in expected fiscal 2024 revenue - a multiple higher than any other firm in the chip industry - rests on its stated plan to obtain far higher royalties per chip than it has historically.
After a smartphone slump in 2023 that caused Arm sales to contract, analysts expect Arm revenue to expand in 2024 as consumers look to upgrade smartphones and laptops for new generative artificial intelligence services such as chatbots.
Many of the chips in those devices will use the ninth generation of Arm's core chip architecture, for which the company is charging higher royalty rates than previous versions.

AMD announces Embedded+ architecture to accelerate edge AI

By The Robot Report Staff | February 6, 2024

Robots and other smart devices need to process sensor data with a minimum of delay. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. today launched AMD Embedded+, a new computing architecture that combines AMD Ryzen Embedded processors with Versal adaptive systems on chips, or SoCs. The single integrated board is scalable and power-efficient and can accelerate time to market for original design manufacturer, or ODM, partners, said the company.

“In automated systems, sensor data has diminishing value with time and must operate on the freshest information possible to enable the lowest-latency, deterministic response,” stated Chetan Khona, senior director of industrial, vision, healthcare, and sciences markets at AMD, in a release.

“In industrial and medical applications, many decisions need to happen in milliseconds,” he noted. “Embedded+ maximizes the value of partner and customer data with energy efficiency and performant computing that enables them to focus in turn on addressing their customer and market needs.”

For more than 50 years, AMD said it has innovated in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company claimed that Fortune 500 businesses, billions of people, and research institutions around the world rely on its technology daily.

In the two years since it acquired Xilinx, AMD said it has seen increasing demand for AI in industrial/manufacturing, medical/surgical, smart-city infrastructure, and automotive markets. Not only can Embedded+ support video codecs and AI inferencing, but the combination of Ryzen and Versal can enable real-time control of robot arms, Khona said.

“Diverse sensor data is relied upon more than ever before, across applications,” said Khona in a press briefing last week. “The question is how to get sensor data from autonomous systems into a PC if it isn’t on a USB or some consumer interface.”

AMD Embedded+ paves a path to sensor fusion

“The market for bringing processing closer to the sensor is growing rapidly,” said Khona. The use cases for embedded AI are growing, with the machine vision market growing to $600 million and sensor data analysis to $1.4 billion by 2028, he explained.

“AMD makes the path to sensor fusion, AI inferencing, industrial networking, control, and visualization simpler with this architecture and ODM partner products,” Khona said. He described the single mother board as usable with multiple types of sensors, allowing for offloaded processing and situational awareness.

AMD said it has validated the Embedded+ integrated compute platform to help ODM customers reduce qualification and build times without needing to expend additional hardware or research and development resources. The architecture enables the use of a common software platform to develop designs with low power, small form factors, and long lifecycles for medical, industrial, and automotive applications, it said.

The company asserted that Embedded+ is the first architecture to combine AMD x86 compute with integrated graphics and programmable I/O hardware for critical AI-inferencing and sensor-fusion applications. “Adaptive computing excels in deterministic, low-latency processing, whereas AI Engines improve high performance-per-watt inferencing,” said AMD.

Ryzen Embedded processors, which contain high-performance Zen cores and Radeon graphics, also offer rendering and display options for an enhanced 4K multimedia experience. In addition, it includes a built-in video codec for 4K H.264/H.265 encode/decode.

The combination of low-latency processing and high performance-per-watt inferencing enables high performance for tasks such as integrating adaptive computing in real time with flexible I/O, AI Engines for inferencing, and AMD Radeon graphics, said AMD.

It added that the new system combines the best of each technology. Embedded+ enables 10GigE vision and CoaXpress connectivity to camera via SFP+, said AMD, and image pre-processing occurs at pixel clock rates. This is especially important for mobile robot navigation, said Khona.

Sapphire delivers first Embedded+ ODM system

Embedded+ also allows system designers to choose from an ecosystem of ODM board offerings based on the architecture, said AMD. They can use it to scale their product portfolios to deliver performance and power profiles best suited to customers’ target applications, it asserted.

Sapphire Technology has built the first ODM system with the Embedded+ architecture, the Sapphire Edge+ VPR-4616-MB, a low-power Mini-ITX form factor motherboard. It offers the full suite of capabilities in as low as 30W of power by using the Ryzen Embedded R2314 processor and Versal AI Edge VE2302 Adaptive SoC.

The Sapphire Edge+ VPR-4616-MB is also available in a full system, including memory, storage, power supply, and chassis. Versal is a programmable network on a chip that can be tuned for power or performance, said AMD. With Ryzen, it provides programmable logic for sensor fusion and real-time controls, it explained.

“By working with a compute architecture that is validated and reliable, we’re able to focus our resources to bolster other aspects of our products, shortening time to market and reducing R&D costs,” said Adrian Thompson, senior vice president of global marketing at Sapphire Technology. “Embedded+ is an excellent, streamlined platform for building solutions with leading performance and features.”

The Embedded+ qualified VPR-4616-MB from Sapphire Technology is now available for purchase.

There's quite a bit mentioned about AI inferencing for AMD's Versal line up of SOC's... any idea how this compares to Akida? Xilinx went for around $50 billion when AMD aquired them recently... so the Versal edge AI must have something going for it? I'd always hoped that AMD would use Akida IP... seems like they are developing their own tech though.

The reality is that basically everyone will try to develop their own technology. They all have massive R&D Divisions.

The BUT is Intel and IBM have been working to develop their own technology for over a decade and where has that got them. IBM has had to shift course and Intel is up to five years away from a commercial product.

There is no doubt from the volume of research papers that the scientific world accepts that neuromorphic brain like compute is the right direction to take to deal with the Von Neumann bottleneck and to meet the growing data generation and related power consumption nightmare.

In science there is only one straight line between each problem and the solution.

On every report to date Peter van der Made and Anil Mankar found that straight line and as such every one else has to find a work around.

The evidence is mounting that 2024 is the year when demand will drive adoption of neuromorphic Ai solutions at the Edge and Brainchip is well and truly commercially ready and direct competition is sparse on the ground.

If Intel and IBM cannot crack the problem after 10 years of trying one would have to think others will struggle to match the package offered by AKIDA technology and partners who now cover the globe and space.

I love this story. Why because using AKIDA means your data does not need to leave the vehicle. If governments decide to legislate against certain information being sent to the cloud Brainchip has the ready made solution.

#ces2024 #ceslive #techpodcasts BrainChip is changing how we think about AI by developing a neural network accelerator that mimics the human brain's ability to multitask. http://plughitzlive.com/ces A transformative shift in the way devices are perceived and interacted with is being brought about by AI neural network accelerators. BrainChip Inc. (https://brainchip.com/) is a leading developer of such an accelerator, a technology that enables AI to be embedded into various devices, thereby facilitating intelligent functions.

AI neural network accelerators: A technological revolution BrainChip's neural network accelerator is compared to other AI technologies in the market, such as those developed by NVIDIA. The distinguishing factor for BrainChip is its architecture, which is based on neuromorphic principles, akin to the human brain. This implies that the accelerator is capable of multitasking and processing multiple events simultaneously, much like the human brain. Furthermore, the accelerator is noted for its minimal energy consumption, contributing to its high efficiency. The end product for consumers is a device that requires less frequent charging, thanks to its neuromorphic architecture. This technology enables devices to perform multiple functions concurrently, similar to the human brain. Take, for example, a smart cabin in a vehicle, where the accelerator can recognize the driver, gestures, and voice. This level of recognition and interaction is made possible by BrainChip's technology. AI still has room to grow However, it is important to note that the adoption of this technology is still underway. The development and refinement of AI technologies require time, as they need to achieve a level of accuracy that can be utilized by consumers on a daily basis. It is the combination of inputting correct data and understanding it that facilitates the development of AI-based applications. Excitement about the future of AI and the demand for more intelligent devices from consumers is a constant. At CES 2024, AI has been a prevalent theme, with numerous companies and individuals focusing on delivering intelligent solutions. Whether it is through software, hardware, or embedded intelligence, AI is transforming various industries and products.

Rob Telson, the Vice President of Ecosystem and Partnerships at BrainChip Inc., acknowledges that AI has only been around for a relatively short period of time, with significant advancements occurring in the past three years. He specifically mentions GPT, or Generative Pre-trained Transformer, which is a language model that has gained attention for its ability to generate human-like text. Despite these advancements, Linsdell emphasizes that truly intelligent devices that can think at the same level as a human are still three to seven years away. Of course, the big question in AI whether AI will ever surpass the human brain in intelligence. Linsdell firmly states that AI will not be able to achieve the same level of thinking as the human brain. He acknowledges that AI may be able to think ahead of humans in certain areas, but it still lacks the efficiency, rationality, and logic that the human brain possesses. However, Linsdell also believes that AI has the potential to bring about significant benefits if used correctly. He mentions the importance of playing the game right and ensuring that AI is used in a way that aligns with human thinking. While AI may make decisions that are not in line with human thinking currently, Linsdell suggests that with further tinkering and advancements, AI may eventually reach a point where it can match human thinking.

Conclusion: BrainChip is on the bleeding edge of AI processing In conclusion, AI neural network accelerators, such as the one developed by BrainChip Inc. (https://brainchip.com/), are revolutionizing the capabilities of devices. By embedding AI into devices, they can perform multiple functions simultaneously, akin to the human brain. This technology holds the potential to enhance various industries and create more intelligent and interactive devices for consumers.
