BRN Discussion Ongoing

Interesting article saying what Peter van der Made has said for over a decade or more.

The World is drowning in useless unwanted data.

AKIDA at the Edge offers the solution yesterday. Intelligence at the Edge only processing events and deciding if the event at any point in time is worthy of being dealt with in some predetermined manner.

A breeze moving the curtains can be ignored. An intruder of some description moving the curtains as it or they gain entry cannot.

The continuous streaming of a production line of three million perfect widgets does not need to be saved or actioned on but one cracked widget needs action.

It is actually consistent with the lack of intellect in our political system that AKIDA solutions are not already mandated across government departments and authorities but once they realise that they cannot provide the power everyone needs it might dawn on them that conserving power by using AKIDA is a sensible thing to do:

hmmm should we pre-emptively ban him?

Hopefully in the future cars will communicate to others that a Tesla is nearby and to be careful.
Cars that are intelligent enough to form the ‘in crowd’ or even cancel culture against teslas, ha.

But isn’t Helium the equivalent of the vector extension technology that is also found in SiFives X280 intelligence chips? The X280 can work with an AI coprocessor such as Akida, so in my mind Helium can do the same - but this could all just be fanciful thinking on my part of course 🤩
You're right - I'm confusing the Ethos U55 NPU which will be an either/or choice - goose quill or laser printer.

That said, I'm not sure how much work there will be for Helium if Akida IP is combined with M85 IP.

https://developer.arm.com/Architectures/Helium

The integer Helium enables efficient compute of 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit fixed point data. 16-bit and 32-bit fixed point formats are widely used in traditional signal processing applications, such as audio processing. 8-bit fixed point format can be important to machine learning processing, such as neural network computation, as well as image processing.

Could we be in for a surprise come April 17

Mercedes prepares to launch first electric Maybach SUV

Maybach, the ultraluxury sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz, is preparing to launch its first zero-emission, electric SUV on April 17, 2023, at Auto Shanghai in China.

The automaker first revealed a luxury SUV concept five years ago at Auto China Beijing. Although the German automaker said the vehicle would feature four compact permanent-magnet synchronous motors and an all-wheel drive system capable of 750 hp output and a top speed limited to 155 mph (150km/h), plans have likely changed over the years.

Three years later, in 2021, Mercedes unveiled a Maybach SUV concept model of its EQS electric sedan, claiming it was “near-production” at the time.

Mercedes hasn’t released the full details yet, but since it’s based on the Mercedes EQS SUV, we are expecting it to be more powerful than the 580 4MATIC SUV, with 536 hp and 633 lb-ft of torque. The 580 4MATIC is powered by a 108.4 kWh battery, giving it up to 285 miles range.

On the inside, the Maybach electric SUV is expected to include the upscale amenities of a Maybach with ultraluxurious upholstery and a customizable experience.

Like the Mercedes EQS SUV, Maybach’s first electric vehicle is expected to include the latest in technology and design with intuitive touch interfaces and other user-friendly features.

As you can see, Mercedes Maybach is not giving away many details about what to expect, with the lone teaser image of the SUV completely covered. Check back next month, as we will have the full details around the launch.

The company will reveal the series-production model on Monday, April 17, 2023, at the Auto Shanghai in China and later digitally on the automaker’s website as well as its YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter channels.

Mercedes-Maybach also revealed its first plug-in hybridearlier this year, the S 580 e sedan, with around 62 miles (100 km WLTP) of all-electric range, twice that of Toyota’s Prius.

If I had known this bothered you I would have saved the article I found yesterday that said Brainchip was an American startup. 🤣😇

That to one side they still had nice things to say just like in the above article:

Neuromorphic Computing Applications and Companies Creating Promising Hyper-Realistic Generative AI

In developing AI models that can create images, videos, and other media that are virtually indistinguishable from real-world content, researchers and developers are exploring new applications that were once the stuff of science fiction. Let's look at some of the most promising neuromorphic computing applications currently in development and explore how they could transform the way we live, work, and play.

BrainChip

One company at the forefront of this innovation is the Australian (already commercialising) startup, BrainChip, which has developed a range of neuromorphic computing hardware and software solutions for edge devices.

At the heart of BrainChip's technology is the Akida Neuromorphic System-on-Chip (NSoC), which is specifically designed to perform pattern recognition and sensory processing tasks with high efficiency and low power consumption. This makes it an ideal solution for edge devices such as surveillance cameras and drones, which require advanced processing capabilities but have limited power and computational resources.

The Akida NSoC is based on a unique architecture that combines digital and analog processing elements, allowing it to perform complex computations while maintaining low power consumption. It also incorporates a spiking neural network (SNN) architecture, modelled on the behaviour of biological neurons and synapses.

BrainChip's technology has a range of potential applications in industries such as security and surveillance, as well as in autonomous vehicles and robotics. As a result of BrainChip's ability to perform advanced processing tasks with high efficiency and low power consumption, next-generation computing solutions are becoming more intelligent, efficient, and responsive."

Abba solutely.
We actually had a little win today. We had been getting to .47c intra day a few times before falling back
Today we managed to hold on. I'm confident we'll have days in the not to distant future where we move up .47c in the day.
Go you good thing.

Valeo announces 2 new major contracts for its third-generation LiDAR

Valeo, the global leader in ADAS, is proud to announce that its SCALA 3 LiDAR has been chosen by a leading Asian manufacturer and a leading American robotaxi company. Valeo has now registered orders worth more than 1 billion euros for SCALA 3.

Valeo SCALA 1 and 2 made conditional autonomous driving in traffic jams a reality. SCALA 3 dramatically increases the domain of operation – and therefore the customer value – of private vehicles thanks to a wider scope of use and higher speed support. Valeo is also positioned as a leader in robotaxis equipment as SCALA 3 enables our clients to make robotaxis a reality at scale, using a proven, best-in-class technology in mass production.
Valeo was the first, and remains the leading company in the production of automotive LiDAR sensors and perception software on an industrial scale. Our clients recognize our ability to deliver on our ambitions.
Marc Vrecko, President of Valeo’s Comfort and Driving Assistance Business Group said: “With over 10 years of experience in development and 5 years of production, Valeo’s LiDAR technology is proven to be reliable and protected by more than 575 patents filed. These new orders show that our technology meets the expectations of different markets, being individual cars or robotaxis. But it also confirms our world leader position in the domain with clients in Europe, Asia and North America. We are excited to be working with new partners to bring safer and more automated mobility around the world.
Valeo SCALA 3 LiDAR is the perception centerpiece of the next generation of highly automated systems. It will expand the domain of operation of conditionally automated vehicles (level 3) to wider areas and higher speed (up to 130 kph), and make robotaxi (level 4) deployment at scale possible.
Thanks to its laser-based system, Valeo SCALA 3 generates a 3D image of the vehicle’s surroundings delivering a point cloud of a yet unparalleled resolution for an automotive system. Boasting more than 12 million pixels per second (x16 compared with the SCALA 2) and a detection range of 200 meters for low reflectivity objects and 300 meters for high reflectivity objects, it sees almost everything, especially objects that are invisible to the human eye.
In addition to its hardware capabilities, SCALA 3 comes with a suite of software modules, including perception and artificial intelligence based algorithms. Its LiDAR functions guarantee unparalleled safety and reliability through blockage detection, rain & spray detection, online calibration or misalignment detection. It can identify objects – such as a tire – left on an unlit black asphalt road more than 150 meters ahead that neither the driver, cameras nor radars can reliably detect. It finally identifies, classifies and tracks objects, giving the car fusion system the full 3D mapping around the car, and finally making autonomous driving possible. These software modules can easily be embedded on major SoC platforms and run on dedicated ECUs or domain controllers.
The ADAS market is expected to grow by 17% per year to reach 60 billion euros in 2030, driven by enhancements in safety and comfort. Valeo develops software and the most complete suite of sensors (ultrasonic sensors, cameras, radars, LiDARS) and computing units (domain controllers) that enable the vehicle to make the right decisions.
