What's happening in Ukraine is devastating and should be above all else our number one concern for many reasons, most notably is the potential escalation into a regional war or even worse, a nuclear event.
There were many natural or man made events that drove markets up or down during my 10 yrs as a commodities broker in the mid 80's to mid 90's. If I was to impart one trading rule I lived by during those days, it would be the old adage 'buy the rumour, sell the fact'.
With the bombing of Ukraine's nuclear power plant, many institutions and retail clients would've rapidly converted a healthy percentage of their portfolio into cash then sit on the side lines until further facts are known. This is normal and not a reflection on BRN's fundamentals.

In a way this can be healthy for the BRN share price, stay with me here!
The sudden and sharp share price drop occurred across the board not just BRN. When the buyers come back, they are less likely to rebuy non-performing shares and would be inclined to buy more defensive and growth stocks, I argue BRN qualifies as both. I also believe the current price provides no room for shorters to enter or remain short. From a buyers point of view, these levels are very attractive and should underpin the next rally.

I conclude by predicting BRN to be $1.25+ by close of trade tomorrow (if not before).

BUY BUY BUY!!!!

Obviously the above is my opinion and not to be considered as advice.

Akida Ballista to infinity and beyond.

As of now, there is no real increase in levels of radioactivity near the site. But this does not change the reality - Russia is reckless and needs to withdraw and allow response.

ok, everyone needs to take a step back and not jump to conclusions. Stay with me. Yes, a fire at any nuclear plant is a bad thing but there are a few things to know. The reactor here is a VVER type, not the same RBMK that was at the Chernobyl plant. 1/ twitter.com/cliffordlevy/s…
Show this thread

On the ABC radio a little while ago they were interviewing a Harvard Professor who studies the security of nuclear power plants and he had a different view of the risk fire poses at this plant and indeed any nuclear plant. He made the fundamental point that no nuclear power plant is built to endure military attack.

The part of this peace keeping mission that does not make sense to me is that Puto suggests that Russia had to go in to defend Ukrainians of Russian dissent from the Ukrainian Nazi aggressors. This sounds reasonable Nazi's are not my favourite people but I was not aware that Nazi's were more susceptible to nuclear radiation than other people in particular Russian Ukrainians.

Add to this the following:

"Malcolm Davis, a senior analyst with the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, agreed that was the most likely reason.

"I think there has to be concern that any heavy fighting in that immediate vicinity could potentially cause a new nuclear disaster," he said.

"But I don't think the Russians sought to control Chernobyl for the sake of controlling Chernobyl — it's more a point of controlling Chernobyl as a key location to support the advance on Kyiv."

Dr Davis added that it didn't make sense for Russia to use Chernobyl as a threat when Moscow already had nuclear weapons.

He said tactical nuclear weapons were a more controlled approach than blowing up a reactor.

"Blowing up a reactor could spew radiation all over Europe, including into Russia," he said."

So even the people of Russia in Russia are being put at risk. It is a bit hard to work out whose side Puto is actually on. He does not care for the Ukrainian Nazi's, the Ukrainian's who are not Nazi's, the Ukrainian Jews, the Russian Ukrainians or it seems the Russian Russians.

Added to all of this it is being reported that there was a failed attempt on the life of the Russian speaking Ukrainian Jewish President over night.

And in the last hour India has advised that there is to be a Quad meeting of the India, Japan, US & Australia to discuss the Ukraine threat.

With all of this going on the share market is reacting as expected but the fundamentals of just about every company on the ASX have not changed suddenly overnight. The big four banks are down along with just about every other company including Brainchip.

Yes, it's one of those times when we all feel helpless, individuals with an agenda, it's all about Power, Greed and Control.

I always reference this image below:

What's the point of war, none of us are going anywhere fast, we live and die on this "Blue Marble" we end up the same way we all come into this world, with nothing, what's the point Putin ?..to me it's just sheer evil, it's all about SELF 👎

Now back to Brainchip...you may have noticed that with Manny retiring from the Board, Antonio moved sideways as he was already a Board Member, so the company hasn't sourced another director, they have moved Sean onto the Board as the 5th Member, I noticed this last night and was sort of surprised, as I may have missed any reference to this actually taking place.

I think it's ok...but as Sean is answerable to the Board, maybe there is a slight bit of conflict, if they wish to discuss certain matters with regards the CEO privately ?...nothing to be concerned about, but I thought that I'd bring it to your attention.

Cheers for now....Tech ;)

Fireside chat with Sujal Shah, VP & GM, Professional Services CERENCE. He talks about the future in-car experience and the important role voice will have.

Sujal mentions the neural net-based text-to-speech (TTS) technology, MBUX and the hybrid on-board / in cloud system. He says that the embedded software or integrated architecture enhancements are very important for compute power (low latency) and for those occasions when the car lacks internet connectivity.

Really can’t stand it when people deflect attention from the current catastrophe by using the “what about what that country did 10, 20, 30 years ago.” The situation in Ukraine is unique, horrendous, is happening now and needs all of the Worlds attention. The Ukraine people have decided to stand up and fight for their freedom. From what I have seen they are incredibly strong people. We live in a different World to that of the past. Around the World private companies, civilian groups and the general public can and are making a difference. More is urgently needed. This is an attack on humanity. Sitting on the fence is not an option for anyone with a conscience. Couldn’t care less about the fall in the Share Price.

Great post. Using what happened in the past to justify not doing something better than it was done before is like saying those people who have lost everything in the floods at Lismore don’t need assistance because the aboriginals lived here for 40 thousand years without clothes, houses, Eftpos and shops.

No one can change the past but everyone can improve the future.

That should not be a problem as it is very common for a managing director to be on the board as well as being the chief executive. Unless we have a dysfunctional board with a lot of internal politics, which I hope we don't have, things should be fine.

Hi Froggy
I'm not very familiar at all with politics in that region is all about. I heard that Russia had a deal with Ukraine not to join nato and they were about to renig on that agreement. I'm guessing he's going after who voted in favour of that.. something to that affect.
On the plant well I hope it's at least built strong enough that some stray bullets and light mortar has little impact, they would have factored in possible terrorist attacks yes ?
Which makes me think if Akida ran the plant it would know what to shut down and when and possibly have demonized drones to deploy to shoot both imbeciles to protect the plant..
For me it's the boots on the ground that should realise they playing stupid games shooting around in there and give their respective leaders the 🖕. They must have IQs of a potatoe.
Reminds me of the F#@later cops bashing spraying shooting their own citizens here and abroad so I don't have much faith in the pm round table
talks. We should stay the f out of it imo. I better breath..
Cheers FF
Froggy
Hi Froggy
When I joined the Police there were minimum height and other physical requirements. Officers had a 12 inch rubber baton and a six shot Smith & Wesson revolver.
Because these height and physical requirements excluded women they were relaxed then abandoned.
Overtime it was realised little police needed extra weapons to effect arrests and control groups until now where they carry eight shot automatic Glock pistols, capsicum spray, Tasers and three foot long metal batons and up graded handcuffs.
Post traumatic stress disorder is endemic in the ranks of modern police.
Little police have a very hard time enforcing the law and are challenged constantly and because they lack the size and strength to control others they are forced to resort to using these weapons.
What you complain about in this country at least is a product of politically correct narratives that ignore facts to pander to interest groups resulting in increasingly violent outcomes.

    About the job

At BrainChip, we believe in challenging the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence. BrainChip is dedicated to building advanced, low power silicon products that learn in real time, are very energy efficient, that are easy to use and high performance. BrainChip’s AKIDA chips are aimed at AI applications that are beneficial to humanity. Brainchip was founded on these principles in 2004 and our mission remains to empower people through technologies that are entrenched in neuroscience. We consider that building neural networks on standard ‘brute force’ computing is about as sophisticated as using a steam engine, and that no intelligence can emerge from programmed automated machines.

The BrainChip technology has greatly benefitted from studying and then copying the fundamental functions of the brain. The AKD1000 processing method is based on the efficient method of information processing as it is seen in brain cells. Brain cells have a defined dedicated function; they are not programmed. Brain cells learn from the sensory data that they receive in the form of precision-timed spikes. Rather than computing the neural function, the AKD1000 chip contains dedicated neural circuits that simulate brain cells. Neural cells only consume energy when they produce an output (event-based), in contrast to a computer that needs to run instructions all the time. Event-based processing is, in the same manner as brain cells, based on active input data. No instructions are processed in the neural cores, and the circuits only consume energy when input data results in an output event.

Next generations of the Akida technology will implement more of the organization and modular structure of the biological brain, with the intent to build more advanced neural systems that go beyond the capabilities of Deep Learning networks, enabling the evolution of rapid learning, intelligent machines.

The BrainChip research institute (BRI) is dedicated to advancing the state of the art in machine intelligence with significant investments in research and neuromorphic hardware development. Technologies that are developed by the BrainChip Research Institute are handed off to Engineering for product development once a research project reaches maturity and a prototype of the technology has been demonstrated. To support our recent investments in neuromorphic research, Brainchip is in search of a talented Perth-based leader with a background in research and who has demonstrated thought leadership at the intersection of biology and machine learning, including Neurology, AI frameworks, cortical function, the Python programming language, TensorFlow, Matlab and Deep Learning. Medical and other projects that apply machine learning, including the creation and analysis of data sets, demonstration projects and interaction with clients are all part of ongoing team efforts. The mission of the team is to advance the technology through innovative thinking, for implementation in future versions of the Akida product, and the preparation of associated patent filings.

We are looking for a Research Manager who has a passion for leading a cutting-edge organization to expand our long-range vision and to lead the research leading up to practical neuromorphic technologies for future products.
Ideal candidates have a background in neuromorphic research or an associated field and have a passion for leading a research institute that is creating a long-range vision for future AI.

    Qualifications:
    1. Communicate well at different levels, with the management and board as well as researchers
    2. Experience in recruiting and managing a highly specialized research team
    3. The ability to refine and expand the company’s vision for future AI.
    4. Hands-on experience in Neuromorphic research or an associated field
    5. PhD in Computer Science, or associated field

    The successful applicant will be rewarded with;
    • Opportunities for international travel
    • A competitive remuneration package with long & short-term incentives
    • A high level of operational autonomy, trust and responsibility
    • Opportunities to conduct Post-Doctoral research & collaboration
    • Opportunities to provide leadership, inspiration and direction to a dedicated team of researchers

Both Sean Hehir and Rob Telson have spoken about wearables in the medical device area. In the linked paper these researchers who on the face of this article do not know about AKIDA technology yet have trialled a wearable solution to when a patient has lost neural sensation ie lack of feeling in a limb in this case the arm.

This is very significant research. Those who suffer spinal cord injuries have this issue and can manifest itself in horrific burn injuries as they have no feeling or sensation so that in the example of one of my clients her leg was in direct contact with the radiator until her mother came back from outside and realised what was occurring by which time the damage was done:

Wearable uBrain: Fabric Based-Spiking Neural Network

Frances Cleary, Witawas Srisa-an, Beatriz Gil, Jaideep Kesavan, Tobias Engel, David C. Henshall, Sasitharan Balasubramaniam
On garment intelligence influenced by artificial neural networks and neuromorphic computing is emerging as a research direction in the e-textile sector. In particular, bio inspired Spiking Neural Networks mimicking the workings of the brain show promise in recent ICT research applications. Taking such technological advancements and new research directions driving forward the next generation of e-textiles and smart materials, we present a wearable micro Brain capable of event driven artificial spiking neural network computation in a fabric based environment. We demonstrate a wearable Brain SNN prototype with multi-layer computation, enabling scalability and flexibility in terms of modifications for hidden layers to be augmented to the network. The wearable micro Brain provides a low size, weight and power artificial on-garment intelligent wearable solution with embedded functionality enabling offline adaptive learning through the provision of interchangeable resistor synaptic weightings. The prototype has been evaluated for fault tolerance, where we have determine the robustness of the circuit when certain parts are damaged. Validations were also conducted for movements to determine if the circuit can still perform accurate computation.

Thought a little of what Brainchip and AKIDA technology will beneficially bring to the world was in order.
