yes, it took me by surprise.
Just more manipulation games. Seemed to do the trick. No way we should have finished where it did.

The Chess game begins
There was index rebalancing happening today (at the close) - my guess is that it might be related to that.

Did you guys see the news about PBH and the deal with Jeff Yass?
I think it might be good for BET in terms of lifting the whole sector (eventually).
We are all lumped together at the moment so if it can get their SP moving in the right direction it might help for ours too - anyway thats my guess!
Thoughts?

There will be a lot of change in the sector over the next 5 years and all the big boys are jostling for position and consolidation will occur. I don’t think the pbh deal will have any impact on the sector. No different to Tripp, Davey and TW investing in BET. I think once the Main players move from customer acquisition to profit making we will see the sector improve. The cheapest way to acquire customers is through M&A.
This article maybe of interest-
Noting the lines-
M&A can’t be ruled out, he adds. “It’s a fast consolidating market,” Chhabra says. “The fact there has been so much consolidation actually creates an opportunity for us; as punters want choice, so with fewer large scale operators in the market and we can fill that gap.

“[But] you can’t rule out M&A – that’s just the reality of life in most regulated territories.”

Thanks, good article.
I think there's a good chance that NTD will get the Aus PBH division too at the right price since it sounds like they will need the cash at some point for the US business.

Did someone ask for a share buy-back!!!!!……your wish has been granted.
Huzzah!!!!

I just watched the doco on Binge about Carl Icahn - which I highly recommend and it had been motivating me to become more of an activist and start calling the board and asking for this lol.
It makes so much sense.
I just found the announcement and it isnt dollar based so hard to know how much they will spend - I would have preferred $x million but I'll take it!

This is amazing news and very well timed at the bottom. I feel like they’ve been just waiting to pull the trigger on this and sizzle those shorters.

Up to 80 million can be bought back approx based on a good poster on HC’s estimate which is a nice amount. Add that to still 120 mill outstanding from MQ and that’s close to 30% of the entire market cap?

Good to see that the shorters will now have to at least compete with the BET buy back program to close out their position … hope those grubby little shorters start getting the butt squeeze … rather than the free ride they have been having .

And yes Reg .. strong signal to the market that they are starting to get to a cash flow positive position and they don’t need the $100milll that they have sitting in the bank .

Hope you get the chance to get back in when conditions suit you. cheers
I woouldn't be surprised if this doesn't really take off until the buyback starts. There will probably still be a lot of EOFY selling.

I'm looking forward to seeing Biloselhi start panicking again and creating new threads all over the place as the price rises.

I think this buyback has massively changed the perception of BET - seems that way on HC anyway.

One of the big differences between the posts on BET and PNV is that BET everyone seemed to blame management rather than the shorters and BET was shorted a fair bit more than PNV. There were so many posts about how bad management are etc etc even though if you look at what they've been doing they seem to have been doing as well as possible - there have been delays but thats been due to regulation and dealing with politicians rather than anything in BET's control.

PNV has had the blame pretty much put on Covid and the shorters for their lack of performance in the last year. Even before DW did his buying no one blamed management and were pretty happy with what they were doing.

Hopefully now there will be a lot more positive attitude to what they have been doing.

can someone help me understand this buy back. The part i don't get is where it says. "The smallest number of shares issued" Does this mean if you have a a small holding they can be bought back?
Or will it be the company just buy back on market in which case the price would just sky rocket.
Sorry bit of a Newbie here :)

Yeah it's confusingly worded.
They are talking about the total number of shares in the company at a certain time which is thought to be around 800M. So 10% of this is 80M which should be massive.

Cheers Guys, I was just a bit concerned that people like my Son who is having fun with his pocket money and doesn't hold a hell of a lot might end up having to sell ha ha
Lets the games begin.

No it's not a takeover where that might have happened.
Exciting times ahead watching the company compete with the shorters to buy 195M shares.
